Wanted pizza after seeing the Montreal Canadiens and asked some locals for a recommendation - we ended up here! The service was amazing! Every person working who we spoke to were beyond friendly and accommodating to our request (putting the toppings under the cheese!) The restaurant was nice and clean. Lots of tables! The pizza was delicious... the sauce, the crust, the toppings.. all good! I'd make it a mission to eat here again when I'm back in Montreal!

Food tastes great, very consistent and fresh. Staff is friendly. Highly Recommend. I've had most things on the menu, the meatlovers pizza is a great choice, so is the pita gyro, and everything else on the menu.

Chicken parmigiana sub

Alto is a well-known and popular spot for students around McGill. Since the fire a few years ago, it re-opened as a newer, bigger place, with a nice terrasse and cool mural. The menu is diverse, comprising of Italian, diner and fast-food classics such as pasta, burgers, poutine, etc. We dropped by for dinner and opted for the club sandwich and the chicken parmigiana sub. Food came fairly fast but was underwhelming. The chicken was cut into strips, which made each bite uneven (some bites had little to no chicken). There was a generous layer of melted mozzarella cheese, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the rather bland tomato sauce. The club sandwich had a generous layer of ham, and absolutly delicious fries. I'm a great fan of McDonald-style fries, and Alto's were very similar. I finished the fries in no time and that was my favorite part of the meal. The worst part was the coleslaw, which was cut so thin that the cabbage had the texture of wet yarn. Service was very nice but the food was just ok. I doubt they can optimize everything on their menu when there's more than 100 items!

Alto Poutine with bacon, pepperoni, mushrooms, and red peppers

This past Saturday, I got the small Alto Poutine that came with bacon, pepperoni, mushrooms, and red peppers. Wow, what I got was considered a small? I wonder what large would have been like. It was still steaming after I walked to Place-des-Arts to sit and eat. The fries stayed crispy throughout eating it. It did just fine for filling my tummy and was yummy, though it's not the best or the worst poutine I've had. Additionally, I would recommend the pizza. The Meatballs & Red Peppers pizza was superb and one of my favorite pizzas I've tried downtown. Lastly, I'm glad the cashier listened when I asked for napkins and no plastic utensils. Definitely check this place out if you live or are around the McGill Ghetto!

Chicken souvlaki plate

Finally tried Alto's again since it's re-opening and was really satisfied with my visit. New location is directly across the previous restaurant, conveniently situated near student residences and McGill's campus. It's really spacious, with plenty of tables and an open kitchen concept. From burgers to souvlaki to pasta to dessert, they've got a huge variety of homey, diner-like foods. Despite the longer than average waiting time, the food really hit the spot. I'm a fan of the chicken souvlaki plate and my friends swear by the el Diablo burger. The fries that come with the dishes taste like Costco fries (the deep fried heavenly kind) and the serving sizes are generous. It's open till the wee hours in the morning (4-5am) so it's a great alternative to your average fast food joints.

Penne with Alfredo sauce and grilled chicken, loved it!

Great Service, great food!! Had a great experience eating here. Ordered Penne Alfredo with grilled chicken, which I was advised comes crispy also! The grilled chicken was very flavorful and had a slight charred taste which complimented the Alfredo sauce. Alto special (half pictured, half eaten already ‍) so good. Wasn't overly thick on the dough. Tasted great!

Veggi and grilled chicken burgers for take out
Crystal Y.

We ordered 2 burgers (veggi & grilled chicken) for take-out but waited for more than 20 minutes. The flavor was ok.

This place was amazing. Lots of food choices, great options, shakes are delish, seating is spacious and hip music in the background. Just enjoyable and not too loud. Had a great experience!

In Montreal on business for the third time, I had so much to do that I needed an evening meal where…read moreI could (a) sit alone; (b) have leftovers that would make a good breakfast at 6AM so I could skip stopping on the way to the office; (c) eat something tasty. No. 900 on the edge of old Montreal (I think it is on McGill St) was such a treat! I got to know, in a very little way mostly, and more extensively in one case, all of the staff that run the front of house. Delightful, all of them! Kind of a graduate student crowd, very efficient, friendly, smart, and pleasant to talk to. I don't drink so I didn't try beverages. I was in town for the week so got to try several pizzas. The one that says it is spicy, is SPICY. I was at my limit but the delicious outweighed the spice and I did end up eating it all (in two sittings, not one!). I especially liked the milder italian sausage pizza and so wanted to try more of them.

Wish they would have told us it was going to be last call before we tried to order one more drink. The server told us that the bar closed ten minutes ago, and was very apologetic. So we ordered another pizza to go. We also had our last meal there. It was a little busy and they were short-staffed so they did not come around much and it took a long time to get our food that time. But it was worth it. Pizza is very good. So we're the meatballs.

Montreal now has world class pizza! After many years of coming here and being forced to eat…read morepoutine, smoked meat, great steaks, and Canadian interpretations on various cuisines ... I now have a pizza option that rivals the best of NY, New Haven, and all the rest! Pizza Bouquet is labeled as a hybrid of other styles (NY and New Haven) and they are spot on ... more leaning to the NY version. This is exceptional pizza created by an energetic and passionate staff. I have only been there once, but in that short visit it was obvious that the pizza reflects the people that work there ... creative, fun, unique, and welcoming. They sell several great pies and actually offer both slices and whole pies. I ordered a pepperoni and hot pepper pie but as I sat there I had to get a slice of their upside down pie. While they were both outstanding, I have to say, what I cannot stop thinking about was that upside down slice. That was freaking magical. I would eat it there through because of the complexity and nuances of the actual pizza. Do not let this one sit ... trust me. Overall, this is a destination pizza in my book ,,, welcome to the world of pizza relevance Pizza Bouquet ... you guys do it right. Special shout out to the lovely ladies that danced through the entire preparation of my pie. Loved everything about this place!

New Montreal style pizza…read more Considering I've not heard of or tried "old Montreal style pizza"; just sayin'. The crust, similar to the NYC pie. Thin, gently crisp, some chew and char. Easily foldable. Follow it up with just the right amount of quality ingredients are brought together in just the right proportions with quirky flair. Upside down pizza (cheese first, sauce on top) or stranger still, a double carb potato pizza. Speaking of, the potato pie is so good. All the ingredients from a potato mille feuille with a hit of fresh rosemary and grana padano atop the well made crust. Rich, creamy, nuff said. Equally good the mushroom with its "mushroom cream" (think a thin duxelles) base, rosemary to season and meaty creminis and motz to round it all out. Finally the sopressatta. I mean, come on, who doesn't love a cheese pie made even more complex with goat cheese, honey and grana padano? Sold by the slice or whole 18 inch pie. Inexpensive. Is it better than the NYC pie? No. But it's definitely not as boring either.
