With a top-class Pilot, wonderful story-teller and a great host, it is hard not to already look forward to the next time I will be in a balloon. Jason Meyers and team catered to us before the flight, during, and once we were on the ground again.
You can expect to meet Jason at the defined location and help him set up the balloon if you're interested. After the balloon is ready, you hop into the basket and very graciously lift off the ground. You would almost not even notice takeoff if it wasn't for the sound of the propane burners. Once you're in the air you start to soak up the setting as you have a view like you have never seen before. You can see 360 degrees around you with nothing blocking your line of sight. The balloon remains very stable with its calm movements for about a 1.5-hour ride. In our case, dipping in on the hidden rock quarry before starting to look for a landing location. Once a suitable location is found a quick radio reveals the crew is already nearby. The gradual descent to the ground ends with a slight teeter-totter in the basket once landing. After a brief pack up period, a table of champagne and cookies were brought out just in time to enjoy over sunset and a closing lesson.
I took a coat but upon setting up the balloon I realized it would be plenty warm given the balloon works on heat. The temperature was about 55 degrees and short sleeves were more than enough. read more
