Louis of Alterations USA, in Bloomingdale, acts like a personal Bespoke tailor and part magician. He is gracious, exacting, and clearly cares about getting all the measurements right to make you look your best. In another time and place we would have trusted advisors in a sartorial education. Louis doesn't just take measurements. He is a teacher in how different fabrics drape, what is seasonally appropriate, and why a garment doesn't quite look right. No clothes, no matter how high end, look good when they didn't fit well. Louis has an old world approach. He is skilled and committed to his craft. read more

I waited until the last minute to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed and the shop was very helpful and got it back to me in time!

I walked into this shop after reading the reviews and they didn't disappoint! The store is bright and clean, and Luis was very friendly. I had some jeans that had embroidery at the bottom and I needed them hemmed. I was terrified of the end result not turning out and I'm glad to say I was wrong. They didn't just look good, they were PERFECT! The price was around the same that others had quoted me but I'm certain the attention to details was above and beyond. I'll be back! read more

Alterations USA - Perfect alteration of a thick wool peacoat - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Bloomingdale, Illinois

I had my suit tailored and Luis did a pretty good job. I even got a discount and a coupon from him.

This place is conveniently located in the Stratford Mall and does pretty good work. However, all work is either done offsite or after hours. I have been here at least 7 times and I have never seen the tailor. Given their pries and location, one would think a tailor would be present or accessible some of the time. On occasion they offer a 15% - 20% discount on the services but given the week or so turnaround, I think they should. The price list is in a picture I have uploaded. Would I return? Yes, but I will keep an eye out for another tailor. This place is not commitment worthy. read more

Luis was nothing but amazing, for what he managed to do the day before moving shop in Bloomingdale! I came in with a dress that was a little tight near the chest and it had 2 different layers of lining, he managed to make it look like part of the dress and loosened it up! I came in on a Thursday and he finished the night of and was ready for me that Friday, absolutely magical! read more

Great place for alterations, so glad I found it! Luis was friendly and helpful and my pieces look just as I wanted

Love, love, love Luis! He did a spectacular job for my daughter and her date on their alterations for prom last year. I just had to say it because I am going to him for alterations for my son's prom this year. While I will admit that the pricing is a bit on the upper end of the spectrum, you get what you pay for, and trust me when I say Luis will not dissapoint you, so the pricing is worth every single dollar! I recommend this place because my daughter's dress had 10 layers of tulle at the bottom that no one wanted to touch. I took it here, one look and Luis said no problem. All the guys are wearing their suits fitted these days. He can even tailor that to the young kids as well. All in all I am extremely satisfied with the work and I cannot wait to take me son here for his alterations. read more

Excellent quality work. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for alterations with excellent customer service

I would never recommend Alterations USA to anyone. They ruined my daughters homecoming dress, which is a two piece dress. We had to let it out a little in the waist of the skirt and rather than doing what we discussed in detail (1/2 inch let out above each pocket on the sides so it didn't show he decided to insert a 3 inch V of material in the back on either side of the zipper. The material is iridescent so the new pieces look like a different color and stand out. Not to mention she now has a huge upside down V on her butt. When I asked him why he didn't do the alterations we discussed he said his seamstress said it would take too long and they decided to change what they were doing. I asked him why he didn't call me to ask me about the change and he had no answer. It cost me $120 to have the skirt let out (because there was some beading to re-do) so this isn't a cheap mistake. I'm very disappointed and im my opinion the dress is ruined. Please do not go to Alterations USA in Stratford Square Mall. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. read more

Brought 2 items in that needed 2 button holes each on a Monday. The male clerk that waited on me seemed not to know the process for installing button holes as he was asking all sorts of unnecessary questions. I explained to him they put the button in the fixture and the automated program sews the correct size button hole. The clerk was not aware if they had a machine that sewed via a automated program. He promised the job would be ready for pickup on Saturday morning. Friday afternoon I called to confirm pickup. They said the job was not done yet, but would be ready Saturday morning. When I stopped in on Saturday around noon, they told me that they could not do the job, They had obviously tried doing something because there was damaged material where the button holes were to be installed. When I showed this damage to the female clerk she was unresponsive. and just repeated sorry, no can do the job. I do not plan on going back to this business. I can see now why the lady that had her dress altered in the waist several time and had problems over and over again. BEWARE!!!! read more
