We have taken many items to the original owner. She was great. The new owner is extremely expensive and is not aware of the way men's outer ware should look based on today's trends. My husband trusted this tailor, Mansuit is his name, to tailor a trench coat for him Not only was the coat too big it is was also too long. Mansuit took the coat in and shortened the sleeves. He did not shorten the coat and his reason is that my husband was in a hurry! My husband is relatively short and the coat looks ridiculously long on him. To shorten the coat this tailor wanted to charge the same amount as he did to take the entire coat in! Customer service is non existent. read more

We have been going heat for years and the used to do good work. Over the last year or so, the quality of work has gone downhill. We had about 12 Scout patches sewn onto a a blanket for my son. When we picked it up, we were in a hurry and did not lol at it. When we got home we noticed several patches were not sewn on right and one was just glued on. No threads to hold it on. Several others were sewn on in short stretches and not all the way around. When I took it back a few weeks later, the lady I spoke with said they did not sew those patches on, I told her we have only brought our clothes to them for several years and they did so the work. After several rounds of 'yes you did / no we didn't' I decided it wasn't worth the argument. I told her that I would writing letters to the BBB and the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce telling them of my concerns. Find a better tailor that will honor their work. read more

I have taken a few pieces here to be altered, and they do a good job, the only complaint I have is this: When I bring my items in, there is a woman who takes them, and tells me a price. When I come back to pick it up, if the older man is there and checks me out, he has always added 5 dollars to the final price. Just recently I had a jacket altered, the woman told me 10 dollars, when I picked it up the old guy charged me 15... just like last time. Horrible service! So disappointed! Been a loyal customer for years. Recently had patches sewn on a blanket for my son. Spent nearly a $100 on their work. Later realized the patches were poorly sewn on, incompletely sewn, sewn poorly and coming apart! This place is my go to place for sewing and alterations. The owners are a husband and wife combo that fast and efficient. Since I am a young professional, I tend to leave things until the last minute to get my clothes tailored. This is never a problem though as they get everything done within 5 business day of me bringing it in. A lot of times I come within 5 minutes of them closing, they gladly accommodate me, and give me advice as to how my clothing should hang/look. Their pricing seems cheaper than other places I have used as well. I had an entire stock suit tailored, which I ordered from an online warehouse. Tailoring it down to my 5'3 build, only cost around 80 dollar. (Hemming pants by over 5 inches, shortening suit sleeves, tightening the back and sides) I highly recommend their services to anyone in the wheaton or glenn ellyn area. read more

Unbelievably TERRIBLE place to get anything tailored. Went there sept 14 to get my bridesmaid dress altered. It needed to be hemmed about an inch, the striped pulled up about half an inch and cups put into the dress. She said sept 29th it would be don't because I gave her a date of October 5 as the absolute latest I needed it by. Going to California for a wedding-leaving on the 6th. The 29th came and went. It's October 3rd today and I call in. She asks for the ticket number... probably 5-6 times and each one reading it back to me wrong. Finally gets the number I said. She says "we don't have a number with that dress". Are you kidding me?! She said ok let me look again. She finally finds it after being on the phone for about 10 minutes at this point. Says everything I needed done the price is $113.13. 13 cents? Really? And $113(!!!) for 3 VERY SIMPLE THINGS. I've had friends come her for dresses to have hemmed an other things and the hem maybbeee was $20-30. The lady there herself told me it was simple and wouldn't take much time and wouldn't cost too much when I was there. She gave a breakdown of each of the thing I needed done: Cups sewn in $11 Straps shorter $18 Hem $84! What the hell are those numbers? Just like another review someone said, the prices are made up. I then tell her about my friends experiences there and she says she's NEVER done a hem that wasn't at least $50. So I said why was mine $80? "Oh, you had 2 layers and I needed to do both. And it was kind of wide at the waist" I told her I didn't need the waist pulled in. To which she just mumbled something. If they pulled it in... what can I do at this point? I should mention, this dress I bought for $75! Paying that much for alterations is absurd. Now I guess I'll have to pay because I need this dress in literally 3 days Hopefully it fits. They looked skeptical when I turned up with a PVC floor-length skirt that needed to be taken in, but they did a very nice job with it. I've had some denim skirts taken in ($15) and the PVC was $20. Sweet people, even when you turn up 5 minutes before they're supposed to close. read more

Based on the reviews on Yelp I gave this place a try to replace a zipper in a coat. Unfortunately I wasn't very happy. The woman quoted me $35 but when I went to pick up the coat she said $40. I told her she had quoted me $35, she kept saying something about the buttons. I think she should have noticed the buttons when she quoted. The major concern though was that once I got the coat home my husband noticed that she had put in a woman's zipper. Did she not notice the zipper that she removed was a man's zipper?? That the coat was a man's coat?? I don't know if she didn't have any men's zippers in stock. I would have waited longer to pick up the coat if she had just let me know she needed to get a man's zipper. Or did she just not pay any attention to the zipper she was replacing. That being said, I will not be giving them any further business. read more

Racist and average quality. The perfect combo. We've been here once or twice before and they did a ok job. I think two dress alternations. This time we drop off my suit pants and my wife's casual dress. She wouldn't quote me a price at drop off, and when we come to pick up she wants $43 for the dress alteration, more than the dress costs. I'm a non confrontational guy, so after talking with my wife on the phone, I mention that she is uncomfortable with the price, especially since they previously did her bridesmaids dress (sequins and more alteration) for less. I'm not a tailoring expert and this might even be a decent price, but based on my wife's feedback she wanted to discuss with the store first. I ask to pay for my pants and mention (very politely) that my wife will come by later to discuss the dress. The lady then decides to ask me where I'm from. Now, I was born and raised in Wheaton, but am brown. I don't know if she's asking me to determine when my wife would be coming back (how far we live) or my ethnicity. I say "do you mean my ethnicity?". She responds, "I don't know what is ethnicity". I said "do you mean where I live or where my parents are from". She responds "where your parents are from". I said Indian. She nods her head and looks down and tells me that Indians are "cheap cheap cheap". It's great, because my wife isn't even Indian even though I am. She is brown though :-) Mind you this is after no haggling, no demanding of a lower price, but simply saying my wife didn't expect it to cost that much, is uncomfortable with the price, and will come back later to discuss. It disgusts me to see this type of business in Downtown Wheaton which is otherwise beautiful, friendly, and a great place to be. Even if you are white, (ie. not brown) I would suggest you ask yourself if you want to do business with someone like this, out of principle, and out of concern for the reputation of the area. read more

I took a formal dress in 2 weeks before a wedding I was standing in. I dropped my dress off on a Saturday and asked when it would be ready. At first they said the following Saturday, but after taking a second to think, decided the Monday would be better. I live in the city but often stay in Wheaton with my parents over the weekend. Monday was somewhat inconvenient, but I figured I could stay an extra night, stop in the morning and head into work a bit late. Also, I stupidly neglected to ask for a price when I dropped it off. A few days later my sister took her basically identical dress in to possibly get it hemmed and got a quote for $65 (remember this number, folks). It seemed a bit high, but I guess this is about the going rate for a dress with 3 layers. Fine. 2 Mondays pass and I walk in around mid-morning to pick up my dress on the way to the city. To my surprise, after over a week, it's still not done. I explain that I live in the city and really needed to pick up the dress today. Obviously, there's nothing they can do at this point. The dress hasn't been touched and it's not going to get hemmed instantaneously. And I certainly don't want to have to go to another tailor and ask them to rush the alteration for me. I tell them that my mom can pick it up that afternoon, but I'm upset that I won't even get to try it on before the wedding. Later, after leaving the shop, I feel a little bad and decide that if my mom's going to pick it up anyway, I might as well give them an extra day. I call the shop and tell whoever answers the phone that my mother will come the following day to give them some extra time. She sounds completely relived and grateful. When my mom went to go pick up the dress, I would have expected a small discount for the trouble and some apology. Instead, they hike up the price to $70 ($5 more than what they quoted my sister) and when it's pointed out that they were late, therefore, the price doesn't seem fair, they knock off a mere $2. In case you want to crunch some numbers, that's less than a 3% discount for my troubles. Frankly, that's just a slap in the face if you ask me. I haven't even tried on the dress yet, but it better be the best darn hem I've ever seen (I'll be amending this review if it isn't). Needless to say, in the future, I'll be picking a tailor who can get the job done on time or at least knows how to handle customer service when it's needed. read more

Would NEVER recommend this tailor to anyone-if I could give them negative stars I would.I had them alter my tuxedo pants before my wedding. I went to pick them up 4 days before my wedding... Tried them on everything seemed ok until I go to pay for the service and the owner offered me a discount because they put a 2in cut on the back panel and then sewed a patch over it! You think they would've called me to let me know this happens but no-not until I come in to pay for them!??Needless to say I was furious-he still made me pay $20 for them!!! After throwing my $20 at him I stormed out. I later called and demanded they pay for new pants and give me my $20 back! I had a zipper replaced on my winter coat and a hole in the pocket repaired. They repaired both but the new zipper wasn't as strong as the original zipper and broke after a week. I paid $40 for the new zipper and they wanted to charge me another $40 to replace the zipper again. I went elsewhere since they didn't do a very good job the first time. read more

NEVER GO HERE. My family has been using this tailor for almost 20 years. The original owner was a 5 star tailor. The name has not changed but everything about the service has. My mother and I brought 5 dresses in to have altered. Four of the dresses were mine for different parties associated with my upcoming wedding. The fifth dress was my mother's dress for my wedding. My mothers dress needed to be hemmed, have the straps taken in, and have some accessories attached to the straps. Of the three tasks the only task completed was the straps taken up. The hem was not finished and the accessories were pinned to the dress as they were when we left the dress with the seamstress. Of the 4 dresses that I brought they all needed the straps shortened. Two of them need to be taken in on the sides. All of the straps were taken up but they did not take one dress in. With the other dress they did not take it in where they had pinned and the dress now does not fit. While my mother and I were attempting to explain the issues to the woman in charge she just kept saying "I fix." I am aware that sometimes multiple alterations are needed if the alterations did not work. However in this case the tasks were simply not done or done incorrectly. We were very frustrated and it seemed that nothing was getting through to the seamstress or her assistant. I kept asking why these things weren't done and the seamstress said that she didn't do the alterations but would not or could not answer who actually did the alterations. The assistant actually tried to blame the things that were not correct on me wearing a different bra. I informed her that it was the same and that they needed to take responsibility for what they had done. I have spent a lot of time finding these dresses for my bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, and honeymoon. I was very emotional and started to cry. The seamstress kept asking why you cry I fix. I did not feel comfortable leaving my dresses there and told her that we would never come back to this place. To add insult to injury she tried charging us for the work that she did not actually complete. For ruining one of my dresses and only completing the work on 2 dresses she wanted to charge $135 dollars. Unbelievable!!! We paid full price for the 2 dresses that were done correctly and left to never ever return. George please come back from Greece and send these people packing. read more
