I'll have to hold back a bit to make sure this review doesn't come off too touchy-feely. Five years ago, my wife and I, and our newborn baby girl were driving around North Park looking for houses with For Sale signs in the yard. We weren't serious. The thought of buying a home really scared us at the time, and we were really just window-shopping. We were kind of torturing ourselves a bit, I guess, driving around looking at homes we knew we couldn't afford.
We lucked upon one on Granada Street that was having an Open House, and I said, "Let's just go in and check it out." We pulled into the driveway and went inside. We found a well-dressed chap with really white teeth...like he could do a toothpaste or chewing gum commercial. He was very friendly and introduced himself as Jeff. We looked around, bummed a bit; it was beyond our income level. But, we started chatting Jeff up and he turned out to be pretty friendly.
He was so friendly, I immediately found him suspect. We parted ways with a business card, and started thinking seriously about whether we should consider buying, rather than just window-shopping forever. Jeff had our contact information, but he never pestered us or called us to try and pressure us. Eventually though, we called him.
To shorten this story, Jeff turned out to be everything he appeared to be. The process of buying a home (and selling one for that matter) can be very stressful. I had a ridiculous number of questions for Jeff, and I fired them at him with annoying regularity. He introduced us to Travis @ Morgan Home Funding who handled the loan process, who also turned out to be a wonderful guy.
Jeff has really been there for us, seriously. He is all about his clients, and bends over backwards, not just to get them what they want, but to protect them. More than once, Jeff protected me from myself, and from businesses, and sellers who might have taken advantage of my wife and I.
Jeff was there for us every step of the way. And, it didn't stop after the deal was done. He's become a real friend to us, and we have kept in touch. When we refinanced our home, he was there as well. Then, when we decided to sell our first home and buy another, Jeff handled it.
Yep, he arranged the simultaneous selling of our home while he took us shopping for our new one. I was rough on him for this one, as the whole process was so stressful. And, the timing was really difficult. I can't believe how good Jeff handled it all. I shouldn't have been surprised; he's been a realtor (a native San Diegan) for years.
When Jeff couldn't show us around, his terrific partner (who recently got her license) his wife Selise was there for us. The two of them make such a great team. It was Selise who showed us the home we eventually bought. They are down-to-Earth, real people who care about what they're doing. Treat them well, and let them go to work for you.
I like to think of Jeff as my personal realtor, and he's been that for more than 5 years now, through buying two homes and selling one. He exceeded my expectations and got my family into a very comfortable situation. We'll always be grateful to him, and feel lucky to have found him. To think, it all started with a little window-shopping. read more
