Movers slashed my sofa when unpacking - they cut it with a knife when taking the plastic off a designer sofa. $2500 worth of damage (that was the estimate to reupholster). Won't return phone calls or emails - it takes 4 calls before they will respond. They tried to pass me off to their family upholsterer who from what I can ascertain saw the damage and told them it needed to be recovered and was not repairable. Made an offer of $200 because according to them it was an accident and not negligent. Complete carelessness on their part - their teams should be far more careful when using a knife to remove packaging. They then offered $800 which does not even come close to covering the repair. I'm now looking at having to file a claim against them. This is not a company you want to be working with if there are any issues. Lack of customer focus and accountability. Absolutely terrible customer service and lack of care.

Being strapped for time, I had to find a reliable moving company in a matter of a week to get my mother from Westchester County to LA County by mid November. I read sooooo many reviews and wasn't impressed with any of the companies. I was also disappointed to find that many of the reviews never mentioned the actual cost. So, I decided to ask my local neighbors on both coasts on NextDoor. Low and behold, many of them mentioned Al's Moving. I even had one neighbor private message me to assure me that he was the best in the area. That was all I needed to hear! I picked up the phone and called him on a Saturday afternoon with a 3 hour difference. It was almost 5pm on the East Coast and he was with his wife but picked up any way! I was blown away and impressed with his concern to help me move my mom out to LA. When I hung up the phone, we had confirmed to meet at mom's house the day after I arrived to walk around the house and discuss what I needed to move. Al, was prompt to our meeting and honest about the price. He knew I had a budget and tried very hard to accommodate me. I also enjoyed our conversation. Al let me know that it would be cheaper to buy things new then ship out all of mom's furniture. I appreciated his honesty which helped me to narrow down my shipping list. (The original one was very long.) By the next day, Al called me to let me know his business associate, Robert Benedict Professional Mover, would be contacting me in regards to picking up my items by the end of the week. He stopped by one my time to drop off boxes, tape and paper. I had less then 5 days to pack up 25 boxes before Robert arrived. Al did me a HUGE favor, so I was not missing this pick up! 25 boxes, 11 pieces of furniture, 2 large area rugs, and 4 small rugs, cost me under $5000. I had been quoted twice that by competitors. Al's Moving and Storage Highlights: Prompt, reliable, honest, friendly, affordable, no deposit required, no bullshit, cashiers or bank check payable upon delivery, and all items arrived safely!!! Thank you Al for your honesty, integrity and amazing service. Not sure why your Yelp reviews aren't 5 stars. I would definitely use your company again as well as refer you to anyone who needs a reliable mover.

Thank you for your reply however it is an empty promise! I have called and left messages many times with Joseph only to be ignored! Your response is an empty try to help.

    Left in the BUSH!!

Wholeheartedly DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! The pics are proof enough of the job done! I would understand if it was ONE item, things may break during a move. There were MULTIPLE mishaps and NO COMPENSATION!! The lamp that was broken was left IN A BUSH! The piece to reed mill was LOST when reassembled! The TV was broken and when plugged in, this is what appeared on the screen! The mattress was left ON THE FRONT LAWN!! The patio umbrella was left UNASSEMBLED! In speaking with management, wanted to send the same men who left the job in disarray to "make it right" TOO little TOO late!! I removed the mattress from the front lawn! I removed the broken lamp from the bush, and I brought in the remaining furniture left outside!! For the cost of the move, the professionalism was deplorable! And still NO COMPENSATION for broken-lost items!!

Used them to move from my apt to a storage unit. And then from said storage unit to a townhouse. Both times were excellent and seamless.

Ivan and Michael also greeted me on the other end, utilizing the same qualities to deliver my items as well as arrange them. When I wasn't sure where to put something, they were great at recommending places. And when I wanted to change an item's location, they were amenable to that as well. They were so kind and good-humored, and made heavy lifting look easy. I was very happy that none of my many fragile items arrived broken or damaged. Kudos also to Drago, the rep who answered my initial call, listened carefully to my needs and said he'd assign me the best crew. He also was the only rep, of the many I spoke with, who wrote down my inventory exactly as I described it. And he quoted me a price that was a fraction of competitors' prices. I had my purse with $980 in the zippered compartment in one of our bathrooms where we were storing the stuff we didn't want moved. The movers were told this on multiple instances. The movers had zero reason to be in that room and did not ask permission to enter it. Had they done so we would have asked them to use the other bathroom. I know the movers were in there because the toilet seat was up and there was urine in the toilet when I went in. I am female and my fiancé is completely blind and has to sit to pee and doesn't put up the seat. When I went to tip the movers, the cash was gone from my purse. No one besides myself, my fiancé and the movers were inside the apartment since I'd taken out the cash the previous evening. I informed the company immediately. They did nothing about it, claiming they questioned the crew who denied it. As if they'd confess to stealing about a grande. Please learn from my mistake and either avoid this company. Or at least keep your cash on your person and lock any doors the crew should not be entering. Personally this is the last time I will be using them as trust should be a priority particularly with a company you are handing your belonging. In case it helps, the head of the crew was named Alik (that spelling may be incorrect) and the license plate number on the truck was 79759NG.

I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.

Summary: + good price…read more+ fast and overall fine service + overall nice workers - poor communication - some unprofessionalism - some damages I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately landed on 3. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. If you're reading reviews because you're planning a move and trying to make the best decision possible, I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck!

After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional.
