Great quality of food, but not where you would take a date. Servings were large, hummus perfect. Tabouli rich with flavor and parsley. Simply delish food served in a basic setting. A great deal for your money read more

Excellent Middle Eastern food (I grew up in the Middle East). We've been going since it was called San Pedro Mart across the street. The ambience is ok, but the food is wonderful. A real Albuquerque gem! read more

I was in search of a Mediterranean food place similar to a popular fast food restaurant chain called Zankou located in Glendale, California. I've bben craving their falafels and my bf has been craving their chicken shwarma gyro. I was expecting more from this place as I read the reviews prior to coming here. Everyone talked about their chicken so I decided to order the Chicken Shwarma Hummus Platter for my bf. Hmm, not sure why its a bit pricey at $10.99. From what my bf told me their hummus was really good, chicken was alright and not seasoned as what he was expecting, and the salad could've came less of the cucumbers. I ordered the Falafel Sandwich meal at $9.99. The falafels were alright. The sandwich could have been better if there was more tahini sauce. I dont know, it just tasted like it was packed on. The meal came with fries which tasted odd maybe due to their spices that were fried in. Im just wondering why the fries were brownish burnt looking. This usually happens when not changing the oil but maybe this is their way of frying their fries?? I was in search of a premade whole chicken which they did not have. I even asked on their FB site if they had and I got no reply. I even asked the cashier and was told they do not sell. I am not sure if I'll be back here. Sorry... read more

I have tried so many things here! The people are wonderful and super welcoming and the food is I would definitely go with the fattoush salad. Zesty and the fried pita gives a great crunch. The chicken and lamb shawarma are at the top of my list. Gyros are also legit. You'll want extra hummus for everything. I also tried the chicken tawook and beef shawarma and while there was certainly nothing wrong with it, it wasn't enough to steer me away from the shawarma plates that I have chosen nearly every time I've gone. I'm not big on sweets bug I've treated others to the baklava and I've heard great things! OH! I almost forgot. Iced mint tea. Flavorful and refreshing. With generous and prompt refills. read more

Alquds - Lamb & chicken shawarma, kibbeh and the Greek Salas and pita bread - Halal Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

The prep room is inside the vault. Apparently, Alqud wasn't satisfied with his previous heist, wherein he operated a restaurant within the confines of an old 7-Eleven. San Pedro Middle East was a wonderful little gem, almost back-alley, that served up marvelous mediterranean bites made arguably even better due to ambiance, or lack thereof. Yeah, I'll posit that I probably thought the food at San Pedro was better than it actually was because of the venue; something about the thought of washing down Baba Ghanoug with a slurpee was just irresistible. And now, this conniving family of foodies has executed a full-on robbery: right up the street, they're turning a bank into a restaurant and convenience store. I say "turning" because currently, that's how it looks. The dining area isn't decorated, there's something weird going on with the music/radio overhead, two TVs broadcast something-or-other, I have to admit, I wanted my gas station back, and the food didn't taste quite -- quite -- as good as it used to. But -- but -- the grocery is wonderful, offering a huge selection of kitchen staples the ol' place couldn't house. Alqud's is a great local business story that's worked hard to get here and, while it's miles from homey, it'll get there. So yeah, you've reached the end of this yawning review just to find out that the food hasn't changed one bit, prepare for a great adventure. And they still have a slushee machine. read more

Old friend in a new location with a name change. Still the best Middle Eastern food in New mexico. Crazy good. It's all about the flavor. This place serves the very best Middle-East food in New Mexico. What sets it apart from its competitors is the excellent grilling, authenticity, and, above all, the superb taste. The hummus is exemplary--smooth and silky. Middle Eastern food is hard to prepare right. Muhammad and his brothers, charming Palestinians, got it right. Five menu items are among best-of-breed. My hat's off to these devoted brothers. 1.) Shish Tawook: Chicken cut into small bite-sized cubes, marinated in a yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil mixture with sumac, paprika, garlic, and other spices, and grilled quickly. Mine was served over heaps of hummus. Absolutely superb. 2.) Fattoush. The defining taste of fattoush is from sumac, purslane (a sweet-sour succulent) , and pomegranate molasses - a sweet-sour syrup that you can find in Middle Eastern markets (or try making your own. Pomegranates grow well in New Mexico, as does purslane and sumac.) It is rare to find the syrup and purslane here, but the version at the Mart was enriched amply with sumac - an unmistakable ingredient. This is an excellent fattoush here. 3.) Hummus: Chick pea, tahini, oil, lemon, and garlic are the main ingredients. This version is silky smooth and as good as any I have ever had. Anyplace. Even in my own kitchen. 4.) Lamb Shawarma: Lamb marinated in yogurt, lemon juices, garlic and seasonings is grilled quickly. The lamb can be served over rice or hummus instead of being made into sandwiches. Jane's was served atop a large serving of hummus. 5.) And the fresh-baked pita is fabulous. Toasty warm, puffy, tasty, and without even a hint of oil on the outside. Many places bake this well in advance (or buy it from vendors) and heat it on an oiled grill. The San Pedro Mart crew does this right. Bravo. And don't forget the falafel. Perfectly done with fine texture and flavor. read more

COVID UPDATE, OPEN FOR TAKEOUT: Things are rough at the moment. At a time when most families are cutting back, cooking at home, and staying in place, things continue to change day by day then week by week. One silver lining is that Alquds is still doing well and thriving in the middle of a pandemic because of their delicious foods and takeout. I've gone in great detail as to why I love this business and why we're going every other week on our "takeout night". It is because the food is consistent and authentic; Alquds is one of the few places currently offering me a sense of normalcy and I'm thankful for that. If your takeout night is coming up, I suggest calling in the falafel, beef shawarma plate or their lamb plate. My favorite lunch item is the gyro sandwich which comes with fries and a drink. They have some family specials and baklava. Bakla-yassss! read more

Honestly, I kind of miss the ambiance of the old place, but I will eat this food anywhere, including inside a bank. They've moved across the street, tripling their dining space. It looks like they're still moving in, but I think that's just the new vibe. Without hiring any more staff for the larger space, they're still holding it down like the bosses they are, serving up perfection in record time. If you've never been before, order the platter with a little bit of everything and educate your taste buds. You'll be back to indulge in your favorite, I promise. Don't order a gyro. It's only on the menu because people whine about wanting one. Order everything else. Literally all of it. Don't skip the baklava or pistachio cookie! read more

AMAZING. I was in ABQ with family for a ceremony at UMN. I decided to cater diner from Alquds and was not disappointed. I called, told Muhammad what we liked, and he created the most delicious meal for us of Greek salad, hummus, falafel, gyro, chicken tawook and pita. Incredibly fresh and beautiful family style on our table. Reasonably priced and delicious! Muhammad, thank you. Not only will we remember the ceremony, we will remember the delicious meal and family time celebrating. I will be back next time i am in ABQ. read more

Great food and great service. Support this local business and you won't be disappointed. Their shawarma is top notch.

I had heard the praises of Alqud's online for awhile and decided I'd make the stop by. When I got into the store, the cashier seemed unusually upset. I made my order and after every item I listed the person shook their head and muttered under their breadth. They may have been angry at me, or the person before me, I don't know. I'll never know. I at no point communicated anything to them about myself, other than what I was ordering for lunch. So this was a new and confusing type of interaction. After my order was complete, because I was concerned, I asked "Hey man, is everything okay?" He brushed me off "Yes, everything is fine. Go sit down." I asked again, because this guy is now responsible for my food "Are you sure everything is okay?" To that he replied "The tables are over there, please sit down." I probably should have left. My order was a chicken shawarma sandwich, an arabic coffee and a pistachio baklava. The pistchio baklava actually had a pretty good flavor, but was dry. The coffee had an odd saltiness which may have been the result of whatever they added into it to mess with me, or might just be the way they make it. Regardless, it was unpleasant. The shawarma sandwich was not made with shawarma. It was made with minced chicken. Not what I ordered. I'm not sure if this is typical here. It was overly salted and not great. Most importantly it was not chicken shawarma. I paid and left without issue. I remember thinking if the food was any good, the prices would be very reasonable. My visit to Alqud's might have been a one off, completely unique experience. Or not. Again, I'll never know. And I'll never be back. read more

Stopped for a spot of lunch. The gyro sandwich and the salad and of course a piece of baklava. The gyro was flavourful, the pita had a good texture. The tabouli salad was a good combination of crisp crunchy and a good flavour. The baklava was delightful, a great combo sweet sticky and the texture of the nuts. Only take out currently available but definitely worth a visit read more

Super flavorful and delicious food. Always consistent and not overpriced. This has been one of our favorite restaurants fir over a decade!

Best falafel ever! Great grocery attached. The pistachio baclava was wonderful. Will be back.

So I want to preface this by saying I do not eat Mediterranean food often so I'm not the best judge! I got the chicken shawarma sandwich, dolmas, and hummus. The chicken shawarma just wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be, and I was not a fan of the pickles. The dolmas were awesome and the little side sauce/salad was yummy too. The hummus was the biggest disappointment. I love hummus and make my own often as well. This hummus was smooth but completely bland! The amount of oil felt like a bit much as well. But the pita bread tasted great! read more

We used to go to this place as San Pedro Mart. It's still delicious. I have enjoyed everything that I've ever ordered.

So full disclosure. I lived in the middle east for a year, so I am very particular about middle eastern food. I initially was drawn to this place because of the market, which is fantastic, but the food here is pretty good as well. THE PROS: The Chicken Tawook is just as good as any I have had in the middle east, and the hummus was absolutely fantastic. I also had the lamb shawarma and it was again, just as tasty as any I have had. The rice was decent as well, nothing super stand out about it, but nothing bad about it either. For me, the best part is the market, because I can get those hard to find spices, REAL basmati rice, and good dates and great baklava. THE CONS: The beef shish kabob was pretty salty. I am a salt fiend, but this was very salty. I really wish that they offered hummus AND rice with the meal instead of either or and a salad. Also, when I think of shawarma, I think of the cheap street taco type shawarma sandwiches that could be found almost anywhere, and came with that wonderful tahini garlic sauce, French fries, and hot sauce. This shawarma was just the meat, but they do offer a sandwich version as well, however I didn't try it. This is a decent option for those who want to dip their toe in to the pool of middle eastern cuisine, and for Albuquerque, this was not half bad at all. read more

I love everything about this spot! The food is excellent, and we enjoy shopping in their mini-market after our meal. Check it out. It's a must! read more

I really didn't want to leave any ill findings for this spot I discovered just a few days ago but I feel it's important for others just in case. I gave two stars based on the fact the food it's tasty (at least I thought) and the service was average. As of today 11/05/24, I ordered the gyro platter for lunch with the hummus and the Greek salad to start off with. I also ordered a water as well as an iced tea to drink. I noticed quickly that the tea had mint leaves in it which was a really nice touch and tasted delicious. My Greek salad arrived and it was quite tasty with the main entree soon following which was the gyro on top of a layer of hummus. I finished the meal entirely with the two pieces of pita provided. Hours passed in my day and I started to have feelings of being unwell. I had to go home and take a nap as my stomach hurt really bad and I had flu like symptoms. It is now 11/06/24 12:02 am and I've had severe diarrhea/stomach pain for the duration of the afternoon/evening. I am working on keeping hydrated but I can't keep anything down. At the risk of TMI, all I am seeing is that my body is desperately trying to get rid of a ton of un-digested salad which is bizarre because I've eaten larger salads without this affect. There was another reviewer on the list that had a similar experience suspecting that it was either the main entree or the mint tea. If I remember correctly he was going on either day 8 or day 9 with symptoms still lingering. Shame really as I told my significant other that we should go together but I can not bring myself to take her at this point or recommend this spot to other people. Food borne illness is no joke read more

Good food, a bit to pricey for what you get. Mediterranean food should ALWAYS come with rice and Hummus, don't make your customers choose, you're already charging them a decent amount for the plate. Food is good, the addition of a carb included in the $17+ for the plate would get them 5 stars. read more

Two words: Fresh Pita! This place makes fresh pita bread daily and it is heavenly. It is served warm and has that fresh baked smell that makes you feel loved. Okay now onto the review...we arrived before noon on a warm sunny day. The restaurant is located within the grocery story, but there is plenty of seating. We took a gander at the menu and decided to share: falafel appetizer and the chicken schwarma plate with the tabbouli salad and hummus. Let's break down each item. The falafel is a fried item that is hit or miss at each place. I was not the biggest fan of their falafel, it was a little dry, and the sauce was missing something. It needed something with vinegar? Not sure but altogether the falafel and sauce wasn't horrible, but it was missing something. Anywho, moving on to the tabbouli. As I was sitting there enjoying the music, I could hear chopping sounds in the back kitchen and curiosity had me going to see what was being chopped. Well, it was fresh greens! The salad was super fresh with the greens and dressing. It was so good. I was a fan. The chicken arrived on a plate with hummus. The meat was well seasoned and cooked just right. The hummus was nice a creamy. You put the hummus on some pita with chicken and tabbouli, and you have yourself the best little sandwich! The plate was more than enough for two people, so I am glad we shared. Will I be back to try other dishes? Absolutely! read more

I was looking for a salad in the area and this place popped up. I'm so happy I came here for lunch.
