Loved it! Food came out hot, fresh, quickly and delicious! Loved the authentic flavors and seasonings. The quick service was a great addition to the experience! Loved the wall paintings and overall aesthetic of the interior. We will be back soon!

Friendly busy staff which patiently explained my questions. Ordered the Sahara entree lamb kabob $14.99, small dark pistachio chocolate bar $8.50, two baklava to go $2.99 each and a kunafa (Turkish cheesecake) $4.99 for here. Also a Turkish latte w/ cardamom for $4.99. Great casual atmosphere . The kebab is seasoned well, lots of flavor. The saffron rice is perfect. Salad came with delicious croutons. Falafel is not greasy and has the perfect texture, not dry. The kunafa tastes like warm mozzarella with sugar and salt. The gritty Turkish latte is smooth and tastes as if it was a single shot. I was hoping the chocolate bar had less ingredients. It's not made in house. The pistachio filling has a list of ingredients which is disappointing. Was hoping it was just pistachio. Overall, I'd certainly return for more lamb and baklava.

Sahara is a casual counter-serve Middle Eastern restaurant on Central. They have both booth and regular seating options available, which are all indoors. There are no steps into or inside the venue, so patrons with mobility issues will not have any issues. I had the chicken tika kebab wrap (located under the "Sandwiches" section on the menu and spelled with one "K"), which is described as, "Marinated tender chicken breast skewers charbroiled and topped with garlic sauce, parsley, and pickles." I additionally added tzatziki sauce in the wrap, then added a side of French fries for $3. The char flavor on the chicken was quite strong, and I missed the tika flavoring in it. I would have enjoyed something else to be in the wrap other than the only solid items to be medium pieces of chicken and thin-sliced pickles, because it felt like it was missing something overall. I did enjoy the pickles in the wrap. The side of fries were cooked fresh and were salty. I enjoy pretty salty fries, but if patrons don't like lots of salt they would likely want to ask for light salt on those. After the meal the table is bused, so patrons do not need to clear their plates themselves. Overall the restaurant was fine. My dining companion agreed the chicken tasted too charred and was similarly unimpressed with the experience overall.

I Iwent for lunch today right at opening and it was not busy. We got a variety of food to share. I love their baba ghanoush, their French fries with cheese, their yellow saffron rice, and always the assorted pickle plate. The chicken schwarma is always a hit with the hummus, salad, grape leaves and more. I like their black tea iced tea too. When down by UNM on Central, we try to go here.

First time trying Sahara. The sandwich was flavorful and a good size portion. The Greek fries were delicious. This will be my new go to spot for Mediterranean food. Definitely recommend trying if you haven't!

This is my first visit to this eatery. I want early on a Saturday evening. Adequate parking, Nice natural light. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff takes your order at the counter, and you bring your food to the table. Decor is of a Mideast theme. The menu is extensive. Prices are excellent. I had falafel appetizer followed by the lamb kebab plate. Delicious, large portions. The Blueberry pomegranate tea is a delight! Although desserts are offered on the menu, I had my fill with these generous portions. Staff is friendly and accommodating. This place is a nice find, I look forward to my next visit.

Itality immediately stood out when I began doing research before my trip to Albuquerque. They…read moredescribe their cuisine as whole plant-based Pueblo food. It includes some items I'd never tried before such as atole (blue corn porridge) and Pueblo-style enchiladas as well as some things more familiar to me like their beans/greens bowl (Fiesta Bowl). I follow a whole foods/plant-based diet and was eager to try nearly every single item on the menu (except for a few deep-fried items), so I actually made 3(!!) trips here during my three-day stay in Albuquerque, and I still didn't even try everything I wanted to. My favorite item was the Feast Bowl, which comes with the bean of the day (e.g. chickpeas or pinto beans), sautéed kale, fresh avocado, and quinoa. It is a smallish portion (good for me because I wanted to try multiple things) and really tasty. A little on the salty side. I ordered this multiple times and would add it to any meal. My next most favorite item was the lentil and green chile soup, which was the "daily kyu-nah" (daily stew) all three days that we went. It was sooo hearty and comforting and delicious, with potato chunks and other veggies and amazing flavor. The next shoutout goes to the tamales, filled with black beans and veggies. Delicious enough for me to order repeatedly. I also loved the atole, a warm and lightly sweetened porridge made from blue corn. A bit reminiscent of cream of wheat. I had a hard time deciding between this and the blue corn waffles which also looked fantastic. I love that they serve breakfast all day. The green omega smoothie was tasty, and I appreciated that it came in a small or large size. The only dish I didn't particularly enjoy was the Pueblo-style enchiladas. It is a single enormous thick whole wheat wrap folded up with kale and zucchini inside. The wrap was infused with red chile powder, and it was extremely salty and rather dry, although the veggie filling was nice. Some of my friends liked this dish, but it wasn't for me. Overall, I loved this restaurant and could have eaten every meal of my trip there. Next time I come to Albuquerque, I'll probably try to stay within walking distance of Itality so it's even easier to go over and over. (Being in the same parking lot as La Montañita Food Co-op was just icing on the cake!)

No one ever told me that I needed fry bread in my life!…read more Itality honors the Rasta philosophy (natural, less processed) and I appreciate a vegan meal that is more bean and veggie-focused than fake meats and ultra processed commercial brand cheeses. Hey, that allows for me to eat the fry bread with a little less guilt, OK? I kind of want to eat it with everything. Like my dining partner had a veggie burger in fry bread rather than a boring roll! Genius. I had the tamale platter. I haven't had a tamale in ages, they are rarely a vegan option, so this was a real treat and they are delicious here. It's smothered it in green chile sauce and comes with a side of that damn fry bread. I added a side of guac to make it even more extra. Service is so friendly and there are tables so you can eat in, though take out is also a good option and if I lived in this town, I'd be taking out weekly, no doubt.
