Finding the Ghengis Grill had closed, we headed across the parking lot to Pars. It had been on my wife's wish list so this was a great opportunity to have the whole family try it. We arrived a few minutes after noon on a Saturday and were promptly seated. Our waitress took drink orders and returned to answer our questions and take our orders. We had a lamb gyro, lamb kebab and my daughter ordered a plate with a sweet rice, falafel, hummus and a Mediterranean salad. Everyone was more than pleased with the flavors of their dish. We shared tastes around. I found the rice interesting, but prefer more savory when accompaniment to an entree. The marinated lamb for the kebab was outstanding and the meat cooked perfectly. I even tried the hummus which to my surprise was very good. I do not as a rule enjoy chick peas, but this mix was delightful. The restaurant itself carried the desired theme, even offering traditional low seating for those who wish that feeling. Solid five stars. I'd give extra to the wait staff for how they dealt with the chronic complainer at the next table, if Yelp would allow that extra. Par's is as good a Mediterranean restaurant as you will find anywhere. Albuquerque is lucky to have a good Mediterranean restaurant where even larger towns don't. The variety on the menu, the warm and friendly staff, food that is hot to the touch when it arrives at your table, and frequent checking in to see to the client's needs, are all appreciated. If you like Mediterranean food, this is the place! If you're curious, come with an open mind. Ask questions if you're not sure. MOST IMPORTANT- If you come with a large group, pool the check, use your IPhone's calculator if you're not good at arithmetic, divide the cost between yourselves. Don't expect the wait staff to calculate individual checks for a party of twelve. When I'm out with FRIENDS AND FAMILY, I come for the warm company and lively conversation. The food is important, but secondary to family and friends. If I have to spend my time keeping track of who ate what, who drank what, etc. I'm not enjoying myself. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is charming, and the service is good overall. We decided to share a couple of dishes and I would highly recommend the chicken joojeh kabob. It's moist, full flavor, and plentiful. The beef barg kabob was good too. It melt-in-your-mouth soft sirloin. I ate at Pars years ago and the food was great. Today we ate at Pars off of 1-25 and was sorely disappointed. Water came with lipstick on the glass. We order Hummus which was ok, not great, a gyros and a kabab sandwich. Both were bland and lacked any significant flavor. Pars Cuisine has delightful Persian and Mediterranean dishes. I especially love the any of the kebabs and the special rice. Pars is a good date night as the waitstaff is well dressed and appropriately attentive. Usually it is nicely quiet for conversation. Expect a festive time when there are belly dancers. read more

This is a fabulous restaurant for authentic Mediterranean and Persian food. Along with the beautiful deck I love that there is a section in the middle with traditional low tables and floor seating for a true authentic experience. The food was very very good. We had to start the meal with Hummus and soft Pita bread. We were in a Mediterranean establishment so how could we not??!! One of my favorites! Our order included Mousaka, Greek salad and a delicious Gyro with a side of rice. Every item had a lot of flavor. I wonder if my Mousaka was heated in the microwave as the plate was piping hot and it took quite a while to eat because it was heat intensive. (In degrees not spice) Better hot than cold I guess. We sampled Caramel Cheesecake and Persian Baklava for dessert. The cheesecake was delightful and worth every calorie. The Persian Baklava is very different from Traditional Baklava. Ambience - 3/5 Pleasant and upscale but not transportative. However, when it is belly dancing time, the music is turned up so loudly that it nearly drowns out tableside conversations. Even the waitstaff struggled to hear us over the music. Service - 2/5 Pars struggled quite a bit on the service side of things in my view, for two reasons: First, we came in with quite a large party, and were not asked at the outset how the check would be split. Then, when it came time to pay, the server blamed us for not telling her at the outset that the bill would be split (although we did do that), and we ended up having to split the bill ourselves. I did not feel that experience really justified the mandatory 20% large party gratuity. Likewise, although I had ordered a $7.00 hot tea which was supposed to come with unlimited hot water, I was never offered any, and the waitstaff only really seemed interested in refilling cold water glasses. Joojeh Kebab (Cornish Game Hen) - 4/5 Great flavor on the kebab bits, but not a lot of food for a $23.00 plate. It looks big due to the pile of buttered rice, but isn't all that much in the end. Chelow Kebab Koobideh (Ground Beef) - 3/5 Not as flavorful as other ground beef kebabs I've had elsewhere, but still pretty good. Seems like an even smaller portion than the game hen. Persian Baklava - 3/5 A tiny piece of honey cake. Very sweet, and very small. Halva - 2/5 An enormous brick of halva, suitable for sharing, but pretty flavorless. No one in our party really enjoyed it. Value - 2/5 I paid $75 for dinner for two and left hungry. Not great. read more

Happened by on my way home to SFe from ABQ. Wanted a light, healthy lunch & this was the perfect fit! Saw all the GREAT reviews, so I drove over... Didn't expect much from the outside.. a bit of industrial area... but once I got inside, I was PLEASANTLY surprised! Wonderful server helped me order a HALF order of an appetizer plate (it all sounded so good I wanted to sample several things!) ... and a cup of Moroccan Mint hot tea. The plate was HUGE, and all was delicious! Falafel was crispy, dolmas were tender & tasty, and the 3 sauce were delicious! (Eggplant, hummus, and - my FAVORITE -yogurt sauce... I forget about this place now that I live in the Westside but I have to say we always have such a nice experience! The atmosphere is cool with fabric on the ceilings and a fountain in the center of the sunken dining room. Our waitress was super nice and attentive and made jokes, always a plus in my book. The star was the food, as always and as it should be! I had the Persian chai, so so good and they bring little hard sugar cubes to add for sweetness. We started with spanakopita. 3 little lovely piping hot puff pastries filled with tasty spinach! I got the Mousaka which came with a Greek salad. The dressing was lovely and the salad was fresh and tasty with red onions, Kalamata olives, feta, tomatoes, cucumbers and house made dressing. I had never had Mousaka before and it consists of seasoned ground beef, finely sliced eggplant and a potato top which is then baked I believe. It was so good! There was cinnamon on top as well as Sumac which I will now buy and use to cook with. Yum!! My hubby got the lamb Soulavaki which comes with pita, tzatziki sauce, and a Greek salad. The lamb was so good and you could taste the Sumac. We ended with Persian baklava that was just lovely. Attentive staff and great food makes this a place you should definitely try! We received $50 gift certificates from a friend so we can try out this restaurant. As we got there it took a while for them even know we were waiting to be seated. After a while we got a table. Our waitress was very nice and friendly, food quality was good. Something new and flavorful. What they fell short is that they charge $15 out of our $50 gift certificates for whatever reason they do. What we didn't know if that $15 was going to the waitress or restaurant kept that. We left 20% tip from original bill and paid the difference with credit card. What we didn't like why we were charged $15 because we were using the gift certificates. Besides that if you pay cash your bill is cheaper but if you pay with credit card you have to pay extra. We started with Supe Jow made with wheat barley, carrots, herbs, spices, and chicken broth, served with pita bread and was super delicious and felt home made. I ordered their juicy and tender Joojeh kebab Cornish hen that came with delicious basmati rice. And marinated ground beef kobideh kebab was delicious and super tender and basmati rice. I've eaten at Pars a few times over the years, for full meals as well as "tea & dessert" quick visits. Food has always been very tasty. Food is authentic, so I feel safe from disparagement when eating at Pars with a Persian dining partner. I can't say that I've ever had a bad meal here & will easily continue coming here to dine. Decor is elegant enough to be a solid step or three above other Persian/Mediterranean (mostly kabob house) eateries around town. Slightly low illumination at Pars coupled with enough dissection of the room's space & some absorbent surfaces make distraction free conversation easy, with the entertainment exception noted below. Generally Pars is a good spot & a safe bet for date lunches or dinners. Price is only marginally higher than the aforementioned kabob houses and easily justified by the ambience, professional staff in a sit-down environment, and elevated sophistication of some dishes. Service personnel have always been solicitous, polite, & professional. They're pretty conscientious about keeping drinks topped up. But they can also be slightly slow delivering requested items or the check. I guess it fits into a casual unhurried dining ethos that is prevalent here. As for the belly dancers that have performed some evenings I've eaten here, I appreciate the time & dedicated training needed to achieve that kind of athletic talent & stamina, but find it's a bit of over the top theater I don't need for a fulfilling dining experience. Plus, the music is loud enough to pose an acoustic obstruction to conversation. I'm here to eat. Maybe talk with friends a little. So to me the dancing among the tables is superfluous. If I ever decide I want innuendic titillation, there are "gentlemen's clubs" around town to cater to the impulse. With that said, do drop a tip into the jars Pars has posted in a couple spots for the dancers. Those ladies are working that evening shift for you, and likely for just tips. read more

If you want to try a real Persian cuisine, unfortunately this place is an absolute NO GO! I've had Persian food in different cities around the world, and this was the worst. Lunch for 10 - with a reservation... First time here for me... Beautiful place Food - overall very good Service - slow / not enough staff on hand. The food was overall good. Nine of us were happy, I was not so much. Reason, I ordered an appetizer and a 1/2 salad. The 1/2 greek salad was fine. Loved the dressing. The appetizer was a joke. $6 for two tiny triangular pieces of spanakopita - all phyllo dough with basically no filling. Additional points: 1. although they open at 11 and we had an 11 am reservation, the doors wee not open on time and it took 30 minutes before our server took our orders. 2. the kitchen did good - all food came out pretty much together. 3. they add an automatic 20% tip to parties of 8 or more. 4. they don't accept dining discount cards with parties of 8 or more. read more

First, the food at Pars does not taste very fresh. The pita bread used for the Gyros doesn't taste as if it were made the same day. For the higher prices charged at Pars the lack of freshness is unacceptable. Second, I purchased a certificate to try this restaurant. I was charged an automatic additional gratuity fee of 20% for use of a gift certificate, essentially cancelling out much of the money savings for giving this place a try. If you want Mediteranium food that is higher quality and fresher tasting give Gyro Shack a try. Gyro Shack may not be as expensive in appearance but it is great if you need to get your Gyro fix without the high cost. read more

Last night we had the Mazeh appetizer plate (dolmas, falafel, hummus, pita, olives and feta), the Chicken Souvalaki with Zeresk rice and Greek salad and the Shishk Kabob with chicken and grilled veggies. This restaurant was dead empty at 5pm on a Thursday as we drove through New Mexico. It had the best rating in the area so we stopped here for an early dinner and to get gas near by. The waiter was absolutely amazing. Super nice and prompt. The seating was so cool and immersive. The plates are all priced around $20, but for the amount of food it is totally reasonable. The beef kenjeh was delightful and flavorful. The meat was tender and the tomato was delicious. The rice with it was cooked to perfection. The vegetarian special was also amazing. The dolmas were flavorful but the grape leaf wasn't too strong, which was fantastic. The pita bread was soft and the humus was great too. I love the tzatziki as well to dip everything in. The falafel was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The spanakopita were super flaky and the spinach filling was so good. The Greek salad was a perfect pair with a light vinaigrette and lots of feta. The tabbouleh is always my favorite. If I could eat a pound of that I totally would. We also tried the Persian baklava. It's really hard to find good authentic Persian food outside of big cities like LA and NYC. Pars is one of our very favorite restaurants in Albuquerque overall for any type of food, and bonus that we've finally found outstanding authentic Persian food here. We keep ordering our favorite dishes and tell ourselves we need to branch out and try new things, but their rice dishes are so, so good! Definitely save room for the baklava sundae. Totally worth it. Whether you want a light, healthy meal or a rich, decadent feast on a weeknight or special occasion, this is the place to go. Something for everyone. Love Pars! P.S. Paris has my favorite salmon salad ever! If you have not had it there yet, you must try the salmon kebab salad. It is so good and healthy here! It comes with a side of pita bread too.
