We invested the time to interview a number of landscaping contractors...curious about not only the cost of such an undertaking... but also their approach, their skill/technical level, their attention to detail and their ability to listen to what we were seeking to create. My husband and I were looking for a particular ambiance, something soft and welcoming, warm and inviting, no hard edges. We wanted something where friends and family could relax and be comfortable, a sort of "Zen" vibe. Said interviews revealed that there was something unique about Esteban Rodriguez of Esteban Land Design and his modus operandi to the whole process that caught our attention and intrigued us enough to assign Esteban LD the job. Our vision would ultimately come to include improved grading to move rainwater away from the foundation, pavers (patio/extended patio, a curved pathway from front to back, extended width to the driveway, "steps" in the front yard to highlight /accent our entry, and an interior courtyard), a pergola, a 3-zone irrigation system (plants/trees/potted plants), boulders, electrical runs for lighting and our fountain, and new plants and trees. Living in an HOA community requires the necessary paperwork and documentation submission. Esteban went a step above: he actually met with the HOA gentleman-in-charge, introducing himself, his company and what all he could do to enhance our property. And then there is Becca. I would describe Becca as a little bit of magic behind the scenes. Her due diligence to the paperwork and detailed documentation insured that our HOA approval came through without much of a hitch. Her warm, genuine care and concern made us feel like ours was the only project on Esteban Land Design's agenda. From start to finish, our project took about 4 weeks. Every morning like clockwork Esteban's team of hardworking men showed up on time and immediately went to work. Marvin, Hendry, Carlos, Gesles, Lazaro and Lorenzo ( we do hope we didn't miss anyone) worked with such efficiency. It was amazing watching them go about their responsibilities. Cross training was very evident; teamwork was VERY obvious. A purposeful work ethic was demonstrated each and every day. A level of craftmanship and attention to detail...that are nothing short of remarkable these days, was not lost on us. Esteban showed every day, arriving about an hour after his crew. He'd ring the bell or knock on the back door. Together we'd walk the project. He'd explain the goals for the day, inquire as to my approval of various aspects. He'd want to know what questions we might have, keenly eager to ensure that we were pleased with the work, the workmanship and the progress. He was always interested in knowing if he was achieving the "look" that we imagined. And if ever there was something from our "vision" that might prove difficult to deliver on, he would eagerly provide an acceptable solution that worked through or around the problem, leaving our imagined intent intact. The project is complete and we are now adding our personal touches of décor and ornamentation. As we look upon our yards, we could not be more pleased with what we see. We know without the slightest shadow of a doubt that we chose the right company to do the work. We selected an enterprise headed by a gentleman who instills a pride-of-workmanship in his employees, who puts in the time to train and teach them...up front and along the way. We engaged with someone honorable, someone who refuses to take shortcuts or compromise on the quality of his craft.
