The people that work at this salon take advantage of the fact that this is the only nail salon in Alpine. They are extremely rude and unprofessional. The way they greet you when you come in is pathetic. I went with a friend to get acrylic and got terrible customer service so we walked out. First they started with: "what do u want" then we picked our color and sat in and the ladies that work there were were looking at us and speaking in heir language and laughing. Then the one that started working on my nails was rough so cut my skin and did not even apologize about it. Instead she wiped it off as if she was mad and was laughing in her language with all the other rude employees. So then my friend and i got up and walked out. I will never go to this place again. I have lived around here for 6 years and avoided this place because of the poor Yelp rating... but after my visit here today, now i'm starting to doubt Yelp and/or my neighbors. If I could give this "salon" less than one star, I would. My mom and I came here right before nail salons shut down. I made an appointment, yet I had to wait one hour and 35 minutes for my appointment. My mom did not have an appointment and she was seen sooner than me. I don't think these people have an appointment system. When people called to book an appointment, no one took down their name and there was no book that I could see. The people at the salon act like they're doing you a favor by you being there. I gently reminded them of my appointment time and every person I spoke to seemed annoyed at me and no one could give me an answer to when I'd be seen. When I finally got seated to have my nails done, the girl did not know how to do a gel fill. She ground down my nails and burned me a couple of times. My mom wanted to gel fill also, and her nail technician did not know how to do it either. Both of us left the salon with bumpy and uneven nails. Our nails were so terrible that the very next day we found another salon and had the previous nails completely removed and re-done. Well I have seen people leave there extremely upset and thought well I've never had a bad experience..... until today! I went in on Sunday to make my appointment for the next day, Monday, and told them I only had an hour from 12 to 1 and when I got in there at 12 today they put foil on my hands to remove my gel and left me there for 45 minutes! I left scraping off the nail polish with my own hands and leaving without getting my polish on my toes and they still charged me full price....and never apologized... I will never step foot in there again! I also watched another woman walk out of there today because she was treated so rudely! I stopped coming here years and years ago because of the service. I decided to give this place another chance on Sunday around 3pm. I sat for 15 minutes waiting which is understandable. Then I was taken to a chair for a manicure and I sat for another 10 minutes before anyone else came over. So I was at station #5 and it was a male. He didn't even use cuticle softener and just used water to push my cuticles back and cut/file. He was speaking to his coworkers the whole time and it started out in a soft voice but then it seemed he started getting into an argument with his coworkers. He was not paying any attention to what he was doing with my nails. He would paint one, then start yelling and gesturing to something as if I wasn't even there. The 2 other coworkers were women who were also yelling at my nail tech also. It was extremely unprofessional. I felt very awkward and the other customers in the salon were all looking around at each other very confused. When he finally finished my nails, they looked okay. I will not be coming back here. I lived in Alpine for 8 years and miss my little town so when I was there I decided to hit Nail Spa on Alpine Blvd by Starbucks. I have told myself so many times - never go back to this place. The people are so unhappy and miserable. I always feel unwanted. I was literally there for an hour and a half. I was seated in the chair, was appraised by the employees and by the time my lady got to me it had to be 20 min. She was very nice but she literally got up 5 times when doing my pedicure. I don't think we made eye contact once and my massage literally took 20 seconds. I wanted to throw my money down and run out of there but couldn't. I give them 1 star for the fact that I got in right away and felt pretty relaxed while I was there. The spa chair I was in didn't work very well I only got half of my back massaged(vibrated) . When I was finished my feet felt good but my toenail polish looked like a ten year old did it in the dark. The manicurist that was working on me was no where to he found she just got up and walked away. I wondered if he was coming back to clean up the polish. She wasn't she was in the back eating dinner a coworker told me so I just paid and left then came home and clean all the polish off my skin. If you want to be treated rudely, have bad nails , not be able to talk to anyone in english, then this is the place for you. I went in for acrylic and was given to a girl that knew absolutely no english. I had never had my nails done, so, I had questions. He just nodded, or ignored me. Half way through my nails, she just got up and left the building. No goodbye, no I'll get someone else , nothing. Finally the man that was working on someone else came over and slopped the gel on my fingers..literally. It was dripping down the sides was really uneven. The final product was a couple of hands full of waaaaay to thick acrylics that only looked good from a distance. I was given no care instructions, just told 'come back 4-6 week' After one week the nail bed was so obvious, I had to get the Valentines Day red polish off, and the nails were too long for every day use,and were starting to hurt, so I needed them filed as well. I went back, hoping I would get a better person. This one, filed off the gel and MOST of the red polish , filed down the nails in a jagged , crooked manor with points and , since I want to be repolished right then because I had to pick my daughter up from school, she told me..'you go. you file at home' I said, can't you just file them smoothly for me? It will only take a minute...she said again 'you file, gimme five dolla, u done' That is the LAST $5 that place will ever see from me. The next day my middle finger nail of my right hand ripped off while I was making my bed. There is only a think layer of my natural nail left and it will take months , if ever for it to return to normal. I have spent the last two days filing and filing and filing the 1/4 inch of acrylic off my nails so that this won't happen to the rest of my fingers. I tried them twice and was disappointed both times. They do not listen, they do what they want on your nails. My first deluxe pedicure was a waste of money. She hardly rub my feet. I went back a second time half hour before they open. The lady told me they open at 10. So I sat in my car to wait. 15 minutes later another customer showed up and was welcomed inside. She even start the preparation for her pedicure. I went inside just to see what would happen...nothing. I sat there for 15 more minutes while the other customer who came after me was being attended to. After all that, they still did not shape my nails the way I wanted not spend much time on my feet as they did to other customers. They like to push other services yet they don't deliver on quality. My nails had chipped after three days with acrylic and gel polish. This place can be good according to my friend (gone here two years), just never, ever go during the last hour. They will rush and possibly put your acrylic on too thin (two of my nails broke). So sorry for the bad review... it just cost me $48 to have my acrylic nails removed and a new set put on. We emphasized that we booked an appointment, so they were kind enough to let us stay (since it was the last hour). We ended up being the last ones there, half hour past closing time and everyone there was kind enough to stay (not sure why they all had to stay). I'm happy with how my nails turned out, but the whole experience was very unpleasant. A man ended up doing my nails, I dealt with it, but when I tried to talk he couldn't speak English and I soon gave up. He did a nice job though. NOT the place to come for your first time though. This place is terrible. If I could give them NO stars I would. I've been living in descanso for 2.5 years and I've gone to this place three times the first two times I thought maybe it was just because I was late in the day and the quality of service wasn't as great but this last time I showed up first thing in the morning when they opened and they were a little bit busy but they had two or three people that weren't doing anything I walked in and one man and one woman who were sitting towards the front were talking to each other. It took them about three minutes to talk to me and they looked at me like I had a frog on my head the whole time they were talking to each other so I said OK, I mean maybe that's just how they are not going to judge them, and so I sat there and he told me it would take about 15 minutes for me to be seen. And 20 minutes later they let about five people go ahead of me and not only that the fifth person was some lady who needed her pedicure and nails done and he took two people who weren't doing anything to help her. Mind you none of these people had appts because I was sitting right up front and never once did anyone say they were there for an appt. I don't understand how they couldn't do my nails or start them when there were two people who aren't doing anything it's very rude and then my husband thought he would call them to see what the wait time was and they said that he could come right now, no wait. While I'm sitting there sending him a picture of how I was sitting there for 25 with no explanation. I will NEVER go back there no matter how close it is to home and how desperate I am. And I hope that people don't keep going there just for the convenience, no one should be treated like that. Especially a paying customer. read more

I wanted to treat myself last Sunday to a pedicure after a long day on my feet on Saturday. I didn't have to wait too long before someone was available. But the lady didn't even greet me, she seemed in a bad mood before I even sat down. There was absolutely no finesse to the interaction nor the attempted upsell. I don't like to be pushed, but a warm request has a better chance of me wanting to drop more money, that's for sure. No trimming or filing of my nails, no massage, no paper towel between my toes, no heel buffing, some of my nails were only half-painted, and most of them had debris or blank spots on them. Then, no drying agent or fan or anything; just shoved my shoes on my feet and sent me off with my splotchy toes. It's a nice looking shop, and everyone else seemed ok, but I don't want to go back and chance getting the same experience. :( read more

When I started going I lucked out and found a gal to do my nails I really liked. I'm picky about my nails, so this isn't the easiest! After she left, I wasn't satisfied with anyone else there, but the pedicures are good. Prices are a little high, but they accomodate a lot of walk ins and are open 7 days a week, huge plus. You pay a little premium for the convenience I suppose. Getting my nails done elsewhere these days, but I would get a pedicure here if it came up. read more

Extremely unhappy, with my pedicure and manicure I got on Sunday. Have not received a manicure since my daughter's wedding in 2011 and I told her that. she proceeded to hack away at my skin and rush. My fingers are now sensitive on different fingers. Also on my toes I have had multiple pedicures from different people in past and the girl on the last nail booth did my toes. I have NEVER had my toes bleed and she did. I felt rushed, she answered her phone and it sounded like I was her last client. I told her I was not happy and that this has never happened to me before but she didn't even say sorry. I told her she didn't need to rush. Minimal reponse but I guess that's what happens when they choose not to speak English. I paid her for the procedures.
