Our 12-month-old daughter attended Alphablocks daycare for three months in early 2025. Prior to enrolling her, we had visited many of the other options in the area (including both big names and those that are more specialised to particular early childhood education approaches) but it was immediately clear that Alphablocks was the right place for us. We cannot recommend Alphablocks and Johanna more highly. Johanna and her staff are that rare combination of being genuinely kind and caring, extremely professional and very relatable. It was such a relief finding somewhere we, and our daughter, loved so much. We only left because we moved overseas, and we sincerely hope that if we return to southern California, there will be room for our daughter to re-enroll. I am not sure what else to say: it's an excellent daycare that it great value and we would only consider somewhere else if there was absolutely no way of re-enrolling our daughter. Johanna and Fatima are kind, reliable and responsive caretakers. Our daughter has been going to daycare here for several months and she absolutely loves it. Always walks in ready for the day and sometimes is reluctant to go home so she can keep playing! She also has demonstrated several new skills which is a testament to their attention to each child. Our son Max has been at Alphablocks from about 3 months, and today is his 1st birthday! He really loves it there. He's happy to arrive and even though he tries to hang with the big kids and take a few less naps than he should, he comes home well rested and in a great mood before bed. My daughter started here when she was only 4 months old and we couldn't be happier with the quality of care and kindness we received during our time here. Both of my kids went to Alphablocks daycare from about 6mths to to 3 and I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Johanna and Ms. Fatima. They were so loving and patient and took such great care of my kids. Both my kids were so happy there and learned so much in their time there. Ms Johanna cared for my babies as if they were her own. The daycare has a great playground that my kids loved playing in and they do art and lots of other activities. She provides meals and snacks which was 1 less thing I had to worry about and my picky eaters ate everything she made! Including veggies! I highly recommend Alphablocks daycare! read more

Overall, a wonderful place for my 2 year old son. We toured a lot of different places and each time my son would have a bad reaction to the people or space, but not here. He immediately took to the owner and her sister who run the daycare. It's a safe, fun, educational day. By providing food it helps us out so much with limited time at the end of the day. Let me start with saying that this is hands down the best in home daycare in the area. I was lucky to be able spend at least 2 years with both my older kids, with my 3rd I was heartbroken that I needed to send her to daycare at 4 months. I toured many in home daycares and just didn't feel they were right for us. By referral from a friend we visited Alphablocks and immediately knew this was it! The first day was hard for both of us, but Johanna made sure I was sent pictures and was very responsive to my many many questions throughout the day. After COVID hit, she quickly put many precautions into place to make sure that everyone was safe. After over 6 months here, I can't imagine going anywhere else. My little one loves the playful backyard and all the friends made at Alphablocks. Johanna is flexible with schedules and always puts your child's needs first. This is not your typical "home daycare"! After four months of being cared for at Alphablocks, my son has grown immensely and has mastered his ABC's, counting in both English AND Spanish, colors, shapes, and the list goes on. He is cheerful during drop off and pick up, and even at times gives the helpers and his little friends there a big hug upon arrival. Having toured a good number of home daycares in the area, Miss Johanna's daycare is the BEST that I have seen in terms of environment, cleanliness, and keeping the kids busy with activites throughout the day. There have been a few times where I came by midday, and all the kids seemed to be laughing, having fun, and playing together. As this was my first childcare experience, I grew to feel completely comfortable leaving my son under the care of Miss Johanna and her staff. Also to emphasize how accomodating Miss Johanna has been, my son is an extremely picky eater and she would try her best to get him to eat. She would let me know if he refused to take a single bite during the day (which is typical of him) or if he surprisingly finished his entire meal. My son has been attending this daycare for about three months now. He was 15 months old when he started and now 18. Alphablocks has a lot of toys and kids friendly objects for the kids to interact with. My son gets to hang out with older kids, who are from nice neighborhoods so they all behave well. And as a family daycare you get a more personal touch and more wiggle room when it comes to pick up grace periods and such. After 3 months, my son is clearly in a more advanced development stage compared to other 18 mo old kids thanks to the older kids he spent the days with. Joanna is the owner and main caregiver. She is nice, calm, and doesn't speak too much. A couple times I get cute pictures of my son texted to me during work, which is a nice touch. Joanna has help from her husband who looks nice, a few friendly and down to earth state registered helpers, and her beautiful and lovely daughter Xena (I hope I get your name right if you are reading this). Bennie seems comfortable with all of them during drop off and pick up. Xena's way of helping is limited to jump out and try to scare me when I pick Bennie up though. :-P The place is certified for about a dozen kids but I never see more than 3 toddler and 2 babies. Probably because of the hours I show up. We had a nice X'mas party at the daycare about a week before X'mas, so the kids can eat cupcakes and the parents can meet each other. Johanna and Fatima provided attentive, patient, and loving care for our son from 18 months - 3 years old. They engaged my son's interests and encouraged his emotional, social, and academic development. Alphablocks is clean and safe, they have an amazing play area outside, and they prepare all meals and snacks. When my son first started daycare he was apprehensive, but Johanna helped to ease this transition by finding just the right activities to engage him. During my son's first few days at Alphablocks, he was obsessed with the buckles on the highchairs. The next week, Johanna had bought a buckle toy for him! My son loved it. My son often came home with stories of Ms. Fatima, jumping on the trampoline or singing a new song that he had learned with her during circle time. My son even mistakenly called me and my husband "Tima!" In the 1.5 years my son spent at Alphablocks he learned letters, colors, days of the week, and completed so many puzzles! He made friends, learned to play in a group, and to follow simple directions. Johanna and Fatima even helped us navigate the transitions of potty training and a new sibling. We couldn't have asked for better care. We give Alphablocks our highest recommendation! read more

I toured multiple daycares and when I finally found this place, I felt relieved. Ms. Johannah and her assistants, Ms. Helena and others are so loving, kind, and warm. You can see it from the way my son hugs them, smiles, and willingly goes to them. He eats better and sleeps better at daycare than he does at home. The playroom and yard is always clean and looks like fun. The kids are comforted when they are crying and tended to. I don't see kids upset when I'm there and I go at random times to drop and pick my son up. It's hard leaving your kids, but when you know they are well taken care of, it's easy. Love them. read more

I had to find last minute childcare sight unseen (scary right?) for my young son of 9 months so he could be with me for training in Irvine for 2 weeks (we live in Texas) and found Johanna via Yelp. Her rave reviews are oh so true as she is indeed caring and gentle as my son wouldn't leave her side. After speaking to her referrals and reviewers on Yelp, I was assured that my son will be well cared for and he certainly was. We were only there for 2 weeks but we miss her center already. My 2 and 4 year old attended Alphablocks for almost 6 months on a part time basis and really enjoyed their time there. The question is really if a home daycare is right for you and your child. There are pros and cons to both traditional daycares/preschools and home daycares so I would say that is the only thing you need to consider. My son attended Alphablocks Daycare for three months 2016. I cannot speak highly enough of the care Johanna Bitar and her team provided my son. Alphablocks offers a wonderful balance between play and learning and my son came home happy and healthy each day. The daycare rooms are colorful and full of age appropriate toys. She also has an outdoor play area that the kids used daily (weather permitting) so I know he got to run around outside and get some sunshine. Alphablocks is part of a food program and the diet was varied and appropriate for young children. She also made accommodations for particular dietary preferences or needs at the request of the parent. The team provided a daily report card so that my husband and I knew what he ate, how many diapers (wet and/or soiled) he went through, what times he napped, and how his general mood was. This helped us stay connected to our son and his daily wellbeing on days we had to work. Johanna also encouraged comradery and socialization among the children. We noticed a marked improvement in our son's verbal abilities and social skills during his time at Alphablocks. I am sad we had to end our time there when we moved away from the area.
