The images posted online looked amazing! I really should have read the reviews prior to stopping in, however. I got the shrimp gyro, it was so salty, so, so, soooooo salty. And I ordered the cheese balls. I could see the cheese pull but didn't taste one shred of cheese or mint. It tasted like fried dough and grease. My friend ordered a fish gyro, her's was super salty as well. She also ordered feta fries, the fries were so over cooked I joked she was eating potato jerky. Again just tasted like oil. She also purchased a strawberry frappe, no flavor or sweetness. Just iced milk tasting. I usually give places two tries because anyone can have an off day. I can say I will not be returning. Save your money and blood pressure and go elsewhere. read more

I never thought I would make it back to alpha omega. Low and behold, my friends convinced me to return while visiting them in Waco. I will say I am pleasantly surprised. The prices are very good. A beef gyro was around $5. The pita was extremely fresh and soft. The protein portion was very generous in these gyros. We ordered a side of fries which appeared to be fresh cut. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also sell Greek wines which is a very nice touch. My friend me enjoyed their lamb gyros which are about $10/ea. read more

I can't say Alpha Omega is the best Greek food in Waco because I haven't tried the other places, but I love it so much that I don't need to! It's not the most friendly of places, but it doesn't really need to be. It's good food. It has a cute brick wall interior with paintings for sale hung all over the walls. During the day it's lit by sunlight and it's a wonderful place to grab lunch with friends. You can order takeout online via their website and it's super easy. I always get the chicken gyro here and I am in love with it. It's consistently good. Their Greek salad tastes great and fresh, and their fries are barely-there-crispy on the outside and soft inside. I've also tried the Pesto Chicken, which is amazing. The gyros are very fairly priced at just under $6, making this a great place to grab lunch! I also like their drink machines, I've made a nice raspberry lemonade tea by combining a few things. I haven't tried any of the desserts, but they all look amazing and fresh! Alpha Omega Mediterranean food that is delicious and at a good price. Very popular with the students and not far from the Baylor campus. Can't go wrong with the lamb or beef gyros. Don't go on a Tuesday! Food review - The food wasn't bad. I'd recommend doubling down on the shrimp if that's your only option or first choice. FYI - I was recommended this place from a local partner assigned to the Waco office. Stopped by for dinner and ordered a ribeye gyro. Turned out that the cashier didn't know they were out, so I ordered a chicken gyro. That too was out. I asked for a recommendation based on what's available. He offered his favorite, a pork gyro. I accepted, only to find out they were out of that as well. I asked for anything meat wise and was given the option of chickpeas or shrimp. I went with the meat option (shrimp). read more

We ordered fried chickpea gyro with feta fries, lamb gyro with feta fries, spanakopita, the dip trio which was hummus, olive dip and tzatziki, and baklava cheesecake. The fried chickpeas were so soft almost undercooked. The lamb was very dry. The spanakopita was soggy and so salty I had to spit it out. The worst was the fries though, paid and extra $3.50 a piece for fries that were so hard, old and inedible. The cheesecake was also hard and dry. Went to tour Baylor with our daughter and tried this place out. Workers did not want to be there. Poor customer service. Food looked presentable but when we tasted our lamb gyro it tasted like beef. Since we paid extra for 3 lamb gyros we went and asked and they told us it was definitely lamb. I might not be an expert but it was definitely shredded beef. Don't charge 3.50 extra for lamb and then give us beef. Not going back. read more

This review is based on a pick up/to go order. Pick up experience. We ordered several meals and was given an estimated time for pick up. When we went to pick up the food, they had given it to someone else. So we had to wait another 20-25 minutes for our order. Food. I like this healthy place. It's Greek with a twist, but still authentically still able to stay Greek. They have baklava and galaktoboureko as well as baklava cheesecake and stuff. They have dolmades, moussaka, and other Greek dishes. And yes, they of course have gyros too, which I frown upon since I truly believe they should stay in the drive thru or take-out domain and have no place in restaurants but that's my opinion against what is commonly seen. I've had the moussaka and it was tasty and complemented nicely with a fresh salad which was prepared nicely. I've also had the fish gyro, against my inner will, since I've hardly seen fish gyro anywhere else and it was also tasty - reminiscent of a fish taco but prepared with Alaskan pollock (better than tilapia). The fish gyro tasted better than my friend's pricier lamb gyro, I should add (but the beef/chicken might be better than the lamb as well). The desserts are a hit and miss but because of the uniqueness of these desserts, I would still advise people to try them out. If it's a miss, it is usually not that far off the mark. Pricing is great, parking is plentiful, atmosphere is casual and spacious. This has become one of my usual stop along the I-35 corridor. Even for coffee, they prepare it well here. read more

This place really is different, but the flavors may be too complex for my palate The restaurant is in a large space. You order at the counter. They have many pita wraps and protein selections. I opted for the lamb, which was both dry and mushy at the same time. The seasoning was off and nothing like what I have eaten at any other Mediterranean restaurant. It was disappointing. At one point, I said out loud to myself, "Why am I still eating this?" I did like the pita bread a lot and the portions are huge. I also ordered the "Greek" salad, which had a sickeningly sweet syrupy honey and balsamic vinegar sauce. They were kind enough to switch out for the Greek pasta "salad," a healthy serving of dense pasta in a sundried tomato sauce with garnish. Really wish I stuck with the candied salad.
