New lever lock
Elysia S.

I am extremely happy with the service I received from Andres. He scheduled with me the same day with short notice and I appreciate it. He also gave a much better price than others. The total time installing the locks was less than 20 minutes, he was efficient and was able to rekey them as well so I don't have to juggle multiple keys. I feel secure and confident with the new locks thanks to Andres. This company is great!

To the rescue!

Cascade Fence & Deck

Cascade was great to work with - they have you video your project, send it in and they get you an…read moreestimate. Pretty slick. They came out to talk thru the project and discussed options but no hard sell (which I appreciate). They assign a project manager (Blake in my case) to coordinate and keep things on schedule. However, the heroes of the project were Michael + Jonathan who built our fence. The took out the prior fence and checked in with our 96 yr old neighbor that we share the fence with to make sure he approved. He did! The walked me thru the finished fence and even added a "puppy protector" mini fence to keep our dog contained. They were super respectful, kind and FAST. It looks great and with the great warranty, we couldn't be happier.

What a Nightmare!…read more Our experience with Cascade Fence & Deck was frustrating and exhausting. We paid nearly $48,000 for a deck, expecting quality workmanship, professionalism, and clear communication. Unfortunately, that was far from our experience. From the beginning, communication was poor, scheduling was inconsistent, and we had serious concerns about the quality of the work. We observed uneven decking, excessive fraying, poorly cut or damaged boards, improperly installed fasteners, and a worksite that was repeatedly left in unacceptable condition. These are issues that should have been caught and corrected by the company, not repeatedly pointed out by the homeowners. We specifically requested an in-house crew, yet subcontractors were sent instead. This was particularly frustrating because we had made our preference clear from the beginning. We were so dissatisfied with their workmanship and conduct that we eventually asked for them to be removed from the project. What bothered us most was that the company wasn't proactively offering to correct the problems we identified. I had to repeatedly push and demand that issues be addressed. We shouldn't have had to fight for basic workmanship standards on a project costing nearly $48,000. The attached photos shows how the property was left on a day the crew wasn't even scheduled to work. This wasn't an isolated incident. Our property was left in similar conditions for more than half of the project. We found the worksite messy and unsafe, and it was disappointing to see so little consideration for our home. We identified more than 30 areas of excessive fraying throughout the deck. When I raised concerns, I was told a good pressure washing would take care of it. Considering this is finished composite decking, I found that response concerning. Only some of the workmanship issues shown in the attached photos were ever addressed. Even after a new crew came in to finish the project, there were still problems. The skirting boards were damaged, the skirting door rubbed against its frame, and the door handle was already damaged. The photos show the condition of these areas immediately after the project was completed, not after months of use. It's incredibly disappointing that these issues remained even after the company had an opportunity to make things right. We also experienced a lack of transparency and what we felt was dishonesty regarding the permitting and inspection process. We repeatedly had to ask questions, seek clarification, and request updates before eventually involving company leadership. I spent an unbelievable amount of time documenting concerns, emailing employees, following up, and monitoring the project. We thought we hired professionals. Instead, I felt like I had to oversee the work myself just to make sure our concerns were taken seriously. My husband and I value our time, and we certainly didn't expect to spend this much of it managing a company we hired to do a job. Although some efforts were eventually made to correct certain problems, we remain disappointed with the finished product. There are scratches on the decking, unresolved workmanship concerns, and questions about how certain areas will hold up over time. What made this experience especially frustrating wasn't just the workmanship. It was the lack of accountability, inconsistent communication, and the fact that we had to continually advocate for issues to be corrected rather than the company taking the initiative. Once trust was lost, it became difficult to feel confident in the work being done. I do appreciate the individuals who eventually made an effort to address our concerns. However, those efforts don't change the overall experience or the condition of the finished product. We documented the entire project through photographs, videos, and written communication. I strongly encourage anyone considering Cascade Fence & Deck to carefully review their contract, confirm whether an in-house crew or subcontractors will be performing the work, stay involved throughout the project, and document everything. Better yet, find a company you don't have to micromanage that isn't a HACK. For nearly $48,000, we expected a much better experience and a finished product we could feel good about. Instead, what should have been an exciting home improvement project turned into weeks of unnecessary stress, frustration, and disappointment. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Cascade Fence & Deck.

Our deck was nearing the end of its life. We sought out multiple deck contractors and just about…read moreevery one of them said it was unsalvageable and that we should replace it. However, replacing the deck would mean having to update it to current building codes and permits, which would then mean having to hire an engineer for our small 6' x 14' deck... Bruce came over, took a look and casually said, we can add more supports and fix the deck instead of having to replace it. He walked us through all the repairs he would do, he listened to our concerns and wrote up an estimate that weekend. I choose to hire him because of his straightforwardness in answering all my questions, he was so down to earth and friendly, I felt like he was trustworthy. We went from potentially having to wait months and spend $20,000 on a new replacement deck to spending about $5,000 on repairs and taking considerably less time. They were booked out till about October and would contact us when the time came closer, they did just that and were able to fix the deck in a day. We hired him to come back to build a 2nd retaining wall, his son came out and built it in less than an hour. They used high quality materials, I feel like the wood used will last a long time. A year later, we noticed that the deck was starting to sink and consulted with Bruce. He came over, took a look and figured it was probably the ground material was soft and causing the deck to sink. He offered to fix it, FREE OF CHARGE. It wasn't his fault the ground was soft, it just shows how much integrity he has in his work. Hands down, I would recommend him to anyone. My neighbor immediately asked for his contact!

We received several quotes and Grassroots Construction was the easiest to communicate with as well as provided the most competitive quote. Brent arrived for the quote on time and on the day we had arranged. We hadn't considered that this was the busiest time for businesses of this nature. Brent was kind, knowledgable, communicative and confident from the very start. There is something to be said, these days, about a handshake and the ability to look someone in the eye during a handshake that instills confidence and establishes trust. Brent runs his business with integrity and honesty. Throughout the entire project Brent and his crew kept us informed and abreast to any progress. Brent takes great pride in his work and this has shown from the minute he provided the quote through the completion of the project. We are so happy that we decided to go with Grassroots Construction. They have gained a forever customer, that's us! The entire experience was horrible. The finished fence isn't terrible…read more I am particular about the wood used so I had the salesman bring me samples of the two thicknesses they offer. The thicker one was rough sawn on one side which I didn't like, he said if I wanted it smooth on both sides, use the thinner board, so I chose those. I signed the contract and then never got an email or call even saying they acknowledged I had signed. I thought that was odd, so I had to call them to verify they got it. Day 1- Start time 8-9. Showed up at 8:15 The lead installer walked the job and saw the post-it note on his paperwork that said "One Day" and he had a fit. Was visibly upset and called his office. They had told me it was a three-day job, so I am not sure why they put everyone through this emotional nightmare at the start of a job? He then said they forgot the jackhammer, left at 8:30 and got back at 10:00. Tore down existing fence. Took off existing lock to reuse and put the lock and screws in the dirt of one of my planters. We talked about the boards for the fence and the company does not carry any smooth on both sides boards like the ones I was told I would have (and that I had a sample of). Day 2- Start time 8-9. Called at 7:30 said going to another job first, will be here after 1:00. I called corporate and asked why they weren't at my job and why they didn't have the boards I was bid on? The CEO said if they don't carry the boards I was shown, they just wouldn't finish the job. WHAT??? My biggest nightmare, the old fence is down and they are walking off the job. I was thinking I would go pick up the boards locally or pay the difference for them to purchase some. Nope, he didn't even want to talk about any solutions. I was beyond distraught at this point. The local branch did eventually go through their stock and try to find the smoothest boards they had and did say they would finish the job, but at this point I pretty much despise this company and what they have put me through thus far. Day 3- Dig out existing cement plugs- put dirt all over my flagstone patio. Cut wood on flagstone patio, sawdust everywhere- in beds, in grout, on plants, in the mulch, etc.. The driveway is 5 steps away and would have been better for cutting and placing piles of dirt. Putting down a tarp would have been smart as well. I had the drip system all coiled and tied up so there were only three places to avoid stepping, yet they stepped on the drip lines dozens of times, even though they could have been easily avoided. They also stepped on plants in the ground that also could have easily been avoided. Seems like they just didn't care about my property or my gorgeous patio area. I had decided on their metal posts and apparently, the wood rails are not thick enough for these posts, so everywhere a board goes on a metal post, that board sticks out farther than the other boards. It is very obvious on the ends which flair out. They said they would fix it, but it has been over seven weeks now and I have not heard from anyone. He said to give him a couple weeks. So much for the lifetime warranty Day 4- They tried to install my lock and it doesn't fit. So all these guys with all this experience didn't know that a lock that has had the stems cut to fit a 4" post, wont fit on the new 5"post? This left me without a lock over the weekend, an extra four days of worry about a break-in. I am baffled that everyone said my old lock would be fine. In the photos you can see where the boards flair out at the end of the fence, that every rail is cracked where the screws are (not sure if this is normal?), the pilot screws they put in the trellis but did not remove them or take them out and put the regular bolt in the same place, etc....
