Over three years ago Rick's installed vinyl fencing on the side yards at my house. One side was excellent but the other had a poorly installed gate. We called Rick's three times to come out and adjust the gate so it would open and close properly. It never got fixed. The vinyl post near my home was anchored in the brick of the house and the post wobbled making the gate hard to use. It never worked properly, and the post broke away from the bricks. I called again. This time Art and Tilson came out. Art analyzed the situation, and they came up with a solution. Now the post is solidly attached to the house. The gate never worked better. Since we are stuck at home due to COVID-19, my husband got tired of looking at our old worn out fence. He contacted Rick's via the website and received a prompt response. Serge Shust came out within a week to look, measure and discuss our options. Serge maintained more than required social distancing & was very respectful. A quote was in our e-mail inbox the next business day. We chose to take down the old fence ourselves. (Probably will let them do it next time!) A week later, as scheduled & right on time, Francisco Guzman & Eric Combes showed up. 4.5hrs later my 67ft of pretty vinyl fence was up. Perfectly level, straight & exactly as we wanted. We've used Rick's Fence 4 different times over the past 20+ years and they've been fantastic for us; easy to deal w/; great quotes; on time service and good quality lasting product; we'll be using them again this summer. One thing that is nice is that if you want to do some of the work you can have them do all the posts and cross boards and put up the thinner vertical slats yourself...We did this last time and it gave me a good workout, saved some money, and still a quality looking fence. Keep up the good work and we'll see you when I get my stimulus check! We usually do the 3 sides of the backyard and two gates and a couple of times we did both sides of the fence but this time we're going to do 1/3 every 3 months or so as we have the $$ to do so....thanks again! Update: Job is complete and looks beautiful! While there was a few hiccups & frustrations, I am satisfied with the outcome. My unfortunate update: I had to knock off a few stars. It's been about 9 months now since our decks have been done. And while, yes, they turned out great, the job is STILL not complete. I have asked multiple times for them to come back and fix the 1 sagging wire cable (see pic), that has not been done and they even had to come back and redo a privacy wall that's on this deck (wasn't stable enough the first time) & they still didn't fix the sagging cable, ugh. I've even asked them to tell me how to do it & they said "no, we'll fix it"...& haven't. I'm sure they have just forgotten, but I certainly could not get away with forgetting to pay them. Working with Rick's Customer Fencing and Decking has been an extremely positive experience. Ryan assisted with deck design for large front and back patio decks. The build/installation team (Nathan (crew lead), Mark, Nathaniel and Josue were excellent in working with us through the entire process. We had some adjustments to design as the project progressed and they were very flexible. Once work started, they stayed on the job until it was completed even though at times the weather was REALLY cold, wet and windy. We had some large planters and privacy panels that needed incorporated into the deck and Nathan designed a perfect solution. Shortly after deck design, we had gusts up to 81 mph (!) and the panels have weathered it without incident. The deck is top quality and looks beautiful. They checked with us throughout the process to ensure it met our specifications but otherwise were non-intrusive and concentrated on the task at hand. Clean up afterwards was also done well. While Rick's is not the least expensive deck builder, we definitely feel like we got what we paid for - good quality, on time, good design, flexibility. If we have any issues in the future, they have an excellent warranty and follow through service program. Highly recommended! read more

This is the 2nd large job that Rick's has done for us since 2014. This job we needed lots of guidance to start with and both Pete (via many emails and calls) and Cory (who did the onsite estimate) were extremely helpful. They were understanding and offered true suggestions to better help us to understand. Our installers were really good at what they do. Francisco and Ben were there when they said they'd be there. They explained everything that was to be done. They were very good about making sure we were comfortable with things. They helped us to understand when we had some questions. Our fence which Ricks put up 12 or so years ago is a disaster. Total eyesore to us and to neighbors. The panels continue to blow out, have had gorilla tape holding the panels in the slats. We had the fence installed to keep the dog inside the yard, but the fence has not served it's purpose. It continues to blow out panels during wind storms, the dog gets out, and one time the dog got out and was taken to the animal shelter. I would NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone The customer service sucks and back after it was installed, they would not fix it to our satisfaction. STAY AWAY. We have been dealing with this fence company for months. Our fence was installed on April 1 of this year. By June, the top rails were curling up and the gates were warping. They came out multiple times, put in screws on the top rail along with the original nails, and replaced the gates which warped again. The last time they "fixed" the wood gates, it was in late August and the day they built new wood/metal gates, you could see the warping start again. (If the sun warped the first ones, what's the excuse for these? It warped almost immediately.) The last gates were metal instead of the wood and metal that were originally done. This being said, the old posts were left in place and full of holes from old hardware. The back gates were secured to the posts with hardware that went completely through the posts and out the other side. The main gate was secured with hardware that allowed for the gate to slip off. I mean, who does that? I guess that was the sun's fault too, since that's why they repeatedly say their work is warping. I'm from mid America that sees temperatures well into the low hundreds for several days/weeks in a row during the summer. Never had a fence last only 2 months. Finally, after waiting around on them forever, they came out, but only after a complaint was filed with the BBB. Amazing how I dealt with them for months and in less than 24 hours after filing a complaint with the BBB, they sent a crew out and finally gave us working gates hung on posts without holes. Long story short, I would not recommend this company to any friends or family. In fact, I'm actively telling my friends to avoid this company at all costs. read more

They were working at a neighbors house when I received a rather large (work bench) shipment. I needed help lifting it off the pallet and installing the casters and these two great guys came to my rescue!!! When I asked for their assistance and that I was willing to pay them - we would be happy to help AND NO PAY!!! They helped me get it set up and you couldn't ask for two nicer young men. Jason and Jesse were my fence installers. The job was completed on time, on budget and really looks amazing. I was not able to be at the home on the day of installation and Jason touched base with me by phone to confirm everything was as planned. He was courteous and professional. He made me feel at ease about the fact that I could not be on site while the job was done. The installers had to work around some large trees and did so in a very tidy way. We purchased our fence in 2006 and we are giving a quick review to the longevity and investment. It is still up and holding and in good shape for a cedar fence. We still have the original stain on it that they suggested using. Although it could use a re stain job, it still looks appealing and has not molded or turned grey. Best Fence Company in Oregon! This is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. Yesterday we had Patrick from the Salem Store install a retaining wall vinyl fence at our beach house in Lincoln City. Extremely high quality work and I have never seen a harder worker than Patrick, considering he worked all day in a storm. LIke all Rick Employees, he is very professional. We have used Cody in the Salem Store and he is excellent too. All employees appear to be highly trained. This is the 3rd project we have had Rick's complete in the last year. The other two were a Cedar Fence around our entire Beach house and a deck and gate at our Portland Home. All the work is high quality. What I like about Rick's is they let us customize what is done. For example, at the beach, we used double stainless steel nails for rust prevention. The fence recently held up nicely to 90 mile an hour winds.
