I first came to Alpenglow 7 years ago at the recommendation of my Chiropractor to aid in severe neck pain and to avoid surgery.
I was very hesitant at first as I didn't know what to expect and am very scared of needles. Immediately, I was educated on what to expect, and my first treatment went smoothly.
In all honesty...I didn't "notice" anything for the first couple months (I was going weekly at the advice of my practitioner). But then, after about my 7th or 8th treatment, when I left, I noticed that my neck felt markedly better! So I kept at it :-)
A month after that, I noticed an unusual and unexpected "side effect". After each appointment, I suffered with much less anxiety for 3 days after the treatment! I let my acupuncturist know and she smiled and said that was excellent news and we started to talk about things other than my neck! I had no idea acupuncture could help in so many ways!
I started to do more homework to learn about other benefits that I may be unclear on and learned so much!
For several years I continued to go to Alpenglow to work on my neck and anxiety.
Then, a couple years ago, I started to struggle with peri-menopause symptoms that were becoming severe (sleeplessness, night sweats, heart palpitations, hot flashes, digestive issues) and I again approached my acupuncturist to discuss the symptoms. We started an "additional;" protocol to the one we were doing for my neck and anxiety and within a couple months, things began to improve! She also started me on some herbs for my hot flashes, and recommended coming back one time per week for a bit to stabilize some things.
Recently, Alpenglow brought on a new practitioner, Esme, and introduced her to me (I was nervous at first, as I had been seeing the same practitioner, and owner of the practice for many many years), but she shared Esme's background and experience with me, and I was eager to see what she could bring to my treatments.
Esme continued my treatments for perimenopause/menopause, anxiety, and my neck...and we then talked about a new "issue" I was having earlier this year...low back pain and high cholesterol (the kind of high cholesterol that made my Dr very uncomfortable and INSIST on putting me on meds, and who by the way, has encouraged me to continue with my acupuncture and Chiropractic therapies as a means to support my overall health)
Esme asked if I had ever considered cupping? A couple months ago we started a once a month appt to include cupping, and after my first treatment, I noticed a very exciting thing...I felt "good", just good, really good, about 3 days after. I had no pain, no anxiety, and I felt lighter. It was so interesting!
So I am writing this because I think that it is important for anyone struggling with their health, pain, emotional struggles, etc, to consider acupuncture as a tool in their tool belt of health options. And I would highly recommend Alpenglow Acupuncture as a resource!
They are an amazing practice and group of people that takes the time and energy to listen and treat your specific needs, based on where you are in your walk in life with your health.
I am blessed that I found them and that I have been in their care for the last 7 years.
Thank you Alpenglow...Karen, Esme, Sarah and Cortnea. You have changed my life! read more
