I suffered from very frequent and severe headaches for approximately 35 years. I had seen many neurologists and tried every prescription medication, including injectables, and over-the-counter meds as well which did not provide relief. As a last resort, I decided to try acupuncture and through a personal recommendation, I became a patient of Dr. Mark Van Otterloo in Wheat Ridge, Colorado in October. Gradually through his excellent care, the frequency decreased dramatically, and I am living a much more pain-free life. He is a very gentle practitioner, explains everything in full, and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Mark for any of your needs. I truly feel Blessed to have found him. read more

I've been dealing with sciatica for about one month, and the pain worsened primarily in my glute in the last two weeks. A friend from my gym referred me to Dr. Mark with a glowing review so I scheduled my first appointment on Friday. It's the following Sunday morning and my pain is completely gone. His bedside manor is calm, professional, and informative. Dr. Mark explained everything through the treatment process, and coached me on how to change some of my exercise routine for healing. His technique is different than my previous acupuncturist, by using electronic stimulation to encourage blood flow to the nerve area for healing. It worked, and quickly, and I'm so glad to have Dr. Mark as my new acupuncture specialist. I highly recommend him. read more

I really enjoy working with Dr. Mark. His acupuncture has been helpful for me in reducing neck and shoulder tension. In addition to the acupuncture, he is also very knowledgable and willing to look at lab work to offer insights and guidance on your health journey. He recommended some tests that have been very insightful for me. I would recommend him as a great resource for holistic healing. read more

Jennifer Brookstone has been seeing Dr. Mark for something like ten years now. She was injured in a fall, in 1993, and developed CRPS - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in her right leg. It's an extremely painful nerve pain syndrome. For years, she was on pain drugs, but the pain kept getting worse and worse. By around 2006, she was taking about 70mg a day of Methadone, and it still wasn't keeping the pain under control. She was literally at the point where she felt like she couldn't take it anymore, and didn't know what to do. I suggested, that as a last resort, maybe she could try Acupuncture. We found an Acupuncturist named Marcus Rhoden, who later partnered with Mark VanOtterloo in the same office. After working on her for some time, Marcus started getting the pain better. In fact he was able to eventually get Jennifer off of the Methadone and manage the pain very well. Marcus eventually moved out of the state, and left Jennifer in the care of Mark. He has continued, to this day, to keep the pain managed and she no longer takes drugs for it. Jennifer sees him twice a week and we think he's simply the best. In fact, he's so great that he teaches Acupuncture, and has been lecturing around the country on his expertise. So if you've been thinking of getting the help of a top notch Acupuncturist, we highly recommend Dr. Mark VanOtterloo. read more

Mark is absolutely incredible at what he does. His Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture knowledge (which is second to no one), fails in comparison to his undeniable personable skills. He makes you feel comfortable and welcome from the moment you step in his office. My experience was very successful, as I did a foot and stress treatment that subsided tremendously after seeing him. My fiance actually got a nasal treatment done for allergies and her allergies have since basically disappeared! read more

I did an Herbal Consult with Mark and he was great. First, he's about the smartest man I've ever met. Plus he really cares. I brought in all the supplements I was taking and he told me if some countered others, which I could stop taking, or recommend if something would be better. For instance instead of taking 4 supplements, I could take cod liver oil, saving a lot of money each month! And Mark is very knowledgeable about the scientific properties of each supplement. I highly recommend Mark! read more

I've seen a number of acupuncturists over the years and Mark is by far the best! I recently had a baby and was dealing with postpartum insomnia and anxiety. Mark listened to my concerns, researched my condition, and provided actionable things for me to do in addition to acupuncture treatment. I've gone back for help with Hashimoto's and gallbladder issues and continue to experience great results. Mark is one of the most knowledgeable and honest people I know and genuinely cares for his patients. I'm thankful to have found Mark and Vital Balance Acupuncture. read more

Mark is an incredible healthcare practitioner. His skill with diagnostics can be downright eerie (in a good way!) and he is genuinely concerned with helping his patients improve their overall health. He is gentle, thorough, an excellent listener, and is efficient and very, very honest in his office and billing practices. At this point he is my main health care provider and has seen me through several issues that would have been massively invasive to set right via western medicine, and I trust him so much that he has also cared for my young daughter - who is always pestering me to take her back because she likes him so much. The only reservation I have in giving him five stars is that once more people realize how amazing he is, it might get harder to get seen as quickly! Seriously, go see him. Your life and health will improve. read more

I've always been skeptical of homeopathic medicine and had never considered visiting an acupuncturist. I would always visit a doctor with any infrequent ills that I had. I've always suffered from allergies and was struggling a lot one particular day. I had met Mark through some acquaintances and his explanations regarding allergic causes and reactions were extremely clinical and pragmatic. Medications stopped working a long time ago, so after one particularly bad day I figured I had nothing to lose by making a visit. He explained that he would need to put something like 10 needles into my wrists and face. After the first needle went into my wrist, the stuffiness and discomfort in my sinuses receded and disappeared. He continued with the whole set of needles, after which I drove home allergy free. He gave me some herbal medicine and advised that the symptoms would come back within maybe 5 days and the herbal medicine would help until he found the underlying cause (probably food related) of the allergies. I spent the whole of that summer allergy free. The start of this allergy season I had some minor symptoms come back, and went back to Mark again straight away. Aside from very minor, occasional symptoms (literally maybe a handful of times) my allergies have pretty much disappeared. If someone had explained that this had happened to them I'd be skeptical, all I can suggest is if you're suffering with allergies sometimes you feel like you'd do anything to get have it go away, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by paying him a visit. read more
