Jennifer Brookstone has been seeing Dr. Mark for something like ten years now. She was injured in a fall, in 1993, and developed CRPS - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in her right leg. It's an extremely painful nerve pain syndrome. For years, she was on pain drugs, but the pain kept getting worse and worse. By around 2006, she was taking about 70mg a day of Methadone, and it still wasn't keeping the pain under control. She was literally at the point where she felt like she couldn't take it anymore, and didn't know what to do. I suggested, that as a last resort, maybe she could try Acupuncture. We found an Acupuncturist named Marcus Rhoden, who later partnered with Mark VanOtterloo in the same office. After working on her for some time, Marcus started getting the pain better. I've always been skeptical of homeopathic medicine and had never considered visiting an acupuncturist. I would always visit a doctor with any infrequent ills that I had. I've always suffered from allergies and was struggling a lot one particular day. I had met Mark through some acquaintances and his explanations regarding allergic causes and reactions were extremely clinical and pragmatic. Medications stopped working a long time ago, so after one particularly bad day I figured I had nothing to lose by making a visit. He explained that he would need to put something like 10 needles into my wrists and face. After the first needle went into my wrist, the stuffiness and discomfort in my sinuses receded and disappeared. He continued with the whole set of needles, after which I drove home allergy free. He gave me some herbal medicine and advised that the symptoms would come back within maybe 5 days and the herbal medicine would help until he found the underlying cause (probably food related) of the allergies. I spent the whole of that summer allergy free. The start of this allergy season I had some minor symptoms come back, and went back to Mark again straight away. Aside from very minor, occasional symptoms (literally maybe a handful of times) my allergies have pretty much disappeared. If someone had explained that this had happened to them I'd be skeptical, all I can suggest is if you're suffering with allergies sometimes you feel like you'd do anything to get have it go away, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by paying him a visit. read more
