I have been seeing Dr. Scott over the last few months and I can't say enough great things. I came in with a very tight upper back. It was so severe at times that I couldn't even move my neck without twisting my entire body around. I would also suffer from vertigo and dizziness frequently. Since seeing Dr. Scott, I honestly can say he has dramatically changed my ability to move easier, feel more comfortable, and have none of the prior issues. He created a personalized program which includes visits for adjustments, exercises in the office, and stretching to do at home. Dr. Evans is an kind, professional and skilled chiropractor. I came to him barely able to move my arm without severe pain and was living with severe, chronic shoulder pain. I had been to several other chiropractors regularly and the issue continued to reoccur for years. It's been less than one month of visiting him three times weekly and my pain is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. I'm also reaping the many other benefits of being adjusted regularly, such as having more energy and less brain fog. No, the treatments are not inexpensive. However, in my opinion it's a great value and well worth the investment. I feel quite frustrated with my experience I had here, which I liken to getting rangled into sitting through a Timeshare. I had to leave work early twice (I work 40 min away from Vida) and ended up leaving after the second day without ever getting adjusted. I feel like I was duped. He spent the first hour-long session asking me about my concerns and asking me how dedicated I was to healing. I was so happy to find someone who actually cared about my health. In the second hour-long session, I realized that this 'caring' was just a way to try to convince me to spend a bunch of money. I had never been to a chiropractor. I don't know if going to the chiropractor 3 times per week for 3 months (with a $3K pricetag) will cure my chronic headaches. I got into the car after the second session and drove straight to another office where I was adjusted that same day and I have started to see results. I commend Dr. Evans for thinking up a way use patient's chronic pain to get large sums of money out of them. read more

It took me a long time to be calm and level headed enough to write a review about this place I was so upset. I understand chiropractors are expensive, but this place REALLY EXPENSIVE, and he doesn't take any insurance by choice, even though he will tell you when you call and ask "Do you take insert-insurance-here?" -- "Yes we'll work it out" or something vague of this nature. All I left with after 2 appointments here was a hug from Dr. Scott (not a back-cracking one either), X-rays (which of course he still has) and $170 less in my bank account because you have to pay out of pocket for everything for the initial visit. He spends lots of time explaining just how screwed up your back is and then even more figuring out how he can get at least $2000 over the course of a year from you. I know all chiropractors aren't bad, but this one is not a good fit for me. I almost convinced myself to drive from Denver out to the chiropractor I actually liked and felt like wanted to help me in Aurora this experience was so crappy. I went into the chropractor's office out of desperation after pinching a nerve in my spine so bad that I could cry because of the pain. I explained when I arrived that I need some form of immediate relief. Instead, I got a lecture lasting over an hour on chiropractors, the tools they use, the methods they employ, etc. And I got quizzed on what I understood and took away from it. It was awkward. I got XRays, although I explained that I am not comfortable with getting radiated if it isnt absolutely necessary. The XRays were $90 and the initial consultation $50. An hour and a half and $150 later, all I left with was a second appointment and the promise of an adjustment in the afternoon. I was asked to bring my husband along in the afternoon as we were going to discuss treatment plans, options, and financing. I explained that my husband, like me, has a job and cannot leave in the middle of the work day to tend to something that seems not to require his presence. They insisted that I try to bring him along as if I cannot make my own decisions or as if we had to take a second mortgage on our house to pay for this. I returned in the afternoon to the same mellow attitude and disregard for the time I had to take away from work to drive there and be there not to mention the lax attitude about my back pain that was still much in need of relief. I expressed my frustration and explained my need for some form of relief for the pain. This relief came in the form of an adjustment that cost me another $45. At the end of the appointment, the recommended treatment was 3 times a week for a minimum of 2 years to fix my 30 year old spine that has never been in any sort of physical trauma. I have no doubt that there are problems in my spine, but for the record, I am an active and fit 30 year old with good posture. Let me add one other piece of information- the office is plastured with anti-vaccine information - all vaccines are evil apparently - from kids vaccines to flu shots. I cannot explain how many variations of anti-vaccine materials you will find in this office- maybe Jenny McCarthy's home could rival it. All in all it was a miserable and expensive experience that left me thinking that chiropractors are only interested in running their business and providing their practice with a steady stream of income from folks who get ropped into the 2 year, 3 times a week plan. I also had a negative experience here. I have been going to chiropractors since I was a toddler and am well aware of all the benefits chiropractic care can offer. When I went into the office and had to read aloud from a laminated sheet about subluxations and then answer questions from the readings I felt as if the experience was a huge waste of my time. Obviously I already had this type of information since I was not new to chiropractic. Luckily, I had a card that made the initial assessment free. Unfortunately, when I came back for the second visit, the adjustment was much too rough for my taste. I was actually asked "are you still with us?" after a particularly hard manipulation of my spine. It may have just been that I was unable to relax enough after all the awkward previous interactions but I decided never to return. I did call and explain why and he seemed very surprised but I figured it might help him to be aware of why some people may choose not to return to his practice. There was also the talk of coming 3 times per week and a hug with the explanation "I am a hugger" at the end of my 2nd visit. Again, awkward. read more

This guy is horrible. He may actually be a good chiropractor, but his over the top sales technique was probably the most awkward, unprofessional, sleazy, and uncaring interaction I've had with a person in the past few years. What others have wrote w negative reviews was exactly my experience (~2-3 years ago - so from the recent reviews, nothing has changed...). In the 2nd visit, a series of tie-down sales questions from this sales person/chiropractor to me (e.g. - "so do you agree that chirporactic treatment will improve your health?", etc etc) leading to many "yes" answers concluded with a flourish of exorbitant # of treatments and $$ cost to patient. My favorite sequence of these tie-down questions: Him: "So on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 be completely commited, how commited are you to this treatment program" Me: "Probably a 9" Him: "So .... why not a 10? What would it take for you to be a 10" And at that point, it was pretty cool, b/c w/o even adjusting me, he'd made my skin crawl and definitely i kind of wanted to puke a little bit too When I flinched at the proposed treatment plan (which was prob more than I save for my 401K and kids' 529 plans yearly combined..), he flipped over to a laminated page with 3 payment options, of which he pushed their own payment plan as the best choice (as in: "We can just sign you up right now, on your way out", ie the hard-sell) It was as if my spine and health were suddenly a used car (albeit a very, very expensive one..), and the chiropractor was perhaps the worst used car salesman I've ever met in my life. The only people that I can see opting in on this extravagant experience are likely folks with TONS of free cash-flow (or a poor understanding of their personal finances) and having very low self-esteem. If you are looking for a surreal experience, some (blech...) hugs, some really awkward interactions, and to hear a very pricey used-car sales pitch regarding your health, this will be the place for you. read more

So Yelp removed my previous post citing it "lacks a substantive firsthand experience." Seems fishy to me... I wonder who could have reported such a thing to their customer service department? Anyway, I'd like to try again in an effort to share my experience. It started with a "free message" at my workplace. I should have known that nothing in life is free. Immediately after my message the "volunteer" suggested I try a chiropractic in the area for a "free assessment." The office was in a trendy neighborhood so I thought "it cant be that bad." Well, low and behold guess who works at the chiropractor? The volunteer. Ok, I should have seen that coming. What I didn't see coming, was the bizarre interview process that followed - literally asking me things like " How committed are you to your health and well being?" As if I'd say "not at all." After 45 minutes of profiling me, the doctor came in and performed a slue of bizarre "witch doctor" type assessments and said he'd call me "if" he could help me. Big surprise (again), he could! Oh glorious day. After another quiz (literally a pen and pad with multiple choice questions" and a verbal review of "what I had learned from the pamphlet," I was told that I would need to pre-pay for 3 visits. He explained that it would take a regiment of "several times per week with reassessment after 12 weeks" At $50 a pop, I told him I could not afford $1200+ in visits. Sensing my uneasy feeling, the doc asked me if "he had done anything to offend me." At about that time, I got up and left, unable to handle the experience. I felt like next he was going to ask me to drink the celebratory punch. And yes, the place is covered with Jehovah's Witness-type pamphlets about flu shots. No less setting the stage for your experience. So, Yelp, Vida, please consider this "substantive firsthand experience." read more

I have been seeing Dr. Scott Evans at Vida Chiropractic for almost a year to alleviate the aches and pains that someone who works at a computer 40+ hours a week can experience. I first heard about the studio when Dr. Evans visited my company for our annual health fair and he offered a special price on the cost of his initial consultation. Since my previous chiropractor's location was no longer convenient for me, the centrally located office of Vida seemed perfect Before I get started on my actual review, I want to address the people who rated Dr. Evans with one star, complaining how they had a pinched nerve and wanted immediate treatment. Let me ask you, if you were having chest pains, would you go to a doctor and insist that they do heart surgery before the doctor has the opportunity to find out what is going on inside? No? Then why would you expect a chiropractor to do the same? Chiropractic medicine is not a quick fix, as some may like to believe. With regular visits and the proper self-care (massage, stretching, proper nutrition and exercise), chiropractic medicine can alleviate not only pinched nerves and pain, but digestive issues, sleep issues, anxiety, etc. Sure, this kind of care can be expensive, but I'd rather spend $1500 or so on "preventative" health care each year than triple that later in life when I end up with more serious issues. And for the person who asked why people were still seeing Dr. Evans after one or two years... if your car's alternator goes out and you have it fixed, does that mean that you never need to do regular maintenance on your car ever again?? We keep seeing our chiropractors because, like cars, our bodies need regular tune ups too!! Back to my review. When I first started seeing Dr. Evans, my x-rays showed how I literally had no arch in my cervical spine (neck) and how the nerves that were being affected were causing arm/shoulder pain and weakness, numb fingers and painful wrists, digestion issues and some mild anxiety. After seeing him twice a week for about 12 weeks, not only did I feel better, but I was also more alert, I was sleeping better, and my anxiety was non-existent. But, more exciting that that was that I could see PHYSICAL PROOF from my follow-up x-rays that my neck was getting its natural curve back and my body was working/feeling like it should. So, thank you Dr. Evans. You are a wonderful physician who unfortunately lives in a world where some people expect a "quick fix" for everything. read more

I am a chiropractor, and I look at all the negative reviews. I tried reading between the lines, and to be honest, I would have kicked those patients out as well. Many think they KNOW what chiropractic is, but truly don't have a clue. They are so pain based, they don't realize the sincere benefit that chiropractic has. Remember, as you are interviewing that doctor, HE/SHE is also interviewing YOU. We do not have to accept everybody. Why accept people that aren't committed into getting well. So, what did I notice from these reviews? 1) Money: Seeing $150-$170 is expensive? For what? If you're a magic-pill patient? Absolutely. Then any form of trying to see past that first visit, the potential patient doesn't want to hear. 2) Not wanting to understand what chiropractic really is. If you were to actually ask them WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC? NONE of them would have a clue. Maybe you'll get a stereotypical answer ( reduces pain, helps the spine, makes me healthier), but they don't understand what it actually takes. It is 65% YOU and 35% chiropractic. In other words, you go back to the same habits, the same lifestyle that caused the problem to begin with, you'll end up right where you started....Miserable. 3) I find American's generally don't understand Chiropractic. They are apprehensive to begin with. There is a "chip on their shoulder" before they see the doctor. (not wanting to fill out forms, not wanting to watch videos on chiropractic, no willingness to learn). It's as if they walk into a fine dining restaurant, but want McDonald's quick service. You want sloppy McDonald's service,....go to them. These chiropractors are closing their doors everyday. They are doctors that are hoping to survive by lowering their prices. Would you want someone truly handling your health that is hoping "to get by"? Not me. 4) So Andra Z, Lauren D, etc...I would have asked you to leave my clinic, as well. It's a bad way to go, by allowing patients such as yourselves to come in and ruin the aura of the clinic. Many times,...and I mean MANY times, patients have no idea how bad their health is. They don't see immediate pain, so "I must alright". They wait for themselves to fall flat to the ground, and tell you "this JUST happened". Not realizing, ..."No, this has been occurring for a while, you just were ignored the symptoms for a long time, and now you are seeing and feeling the result of ignoring that pain." Of course, there are times that something may have happened due to some macro trauma. So, put that Ace card away. You think This clinic is expensive? I charge $300 for an initial exam, consultation and 2 first day adjustments. I have care plans for patients worth $5,000. USD Do my patients think that is expensive? Not the ones who see the benefit? I came in with horrible posture and a very embarrassing hump, within six months everyone close to me noticed a difference in my posture, back and confidence. I had spent $50 at sunflower market, and the cashier told me I had earned a free massage. So I went over to the table to receive my free massage but ended up having to schedule it for the next week at Vida. They told me it also included a free consultation from the chiropractor. I figured since I suffered from chronic back pain, hence my excitement for the free massage, I could at leas hear if this chiropractor had any new ideas of what might be causing my pain. So I drove 30 minutes to what I assumed was the appointment for my free massage, but ended up spending over an hour of my time receiving my "free" consult from Dr. Scott, who seems nice and well educated, but a salesman nonetheless. I did not receive my free massage that night. I had to schedule for part 2 of the consult involving X-rays. I returned for my X-rays, and additional examination. And was told of my improper curvatures, and my degrading vertebra. And then how I would need to come back 3 times a week for about a year! Not wanting to get in a debate with him, I said I would think about it; I still wanted my free massage. So after nearly 3 hours of driving and 3 hours of consults I received my "free" massage. Which, oh by the way, is only 20 minutes long, and you need to keep your jeans and shirt on too. The massage therapist was nice, and also well educated. Just wish I actually received a massage from him! So I went to buy some groceries one Saturday and almost got talked into signing up for chiropractic care for life. I understand the medical market might be saturated in CO, but people don't appreciated being tricked, especially for something as serious as healthcare. Overall, the staff all seemed nice and knowledgeable. They may provide great services. I was just so upset by this, that even now, 6 months later I felt I needed to share my traumatic experience. read more

Throughout my life time I have dealt with constant stomach pain. When I was only 17 years old, I was diagnosed with an ulcer. Getting this diagnosis didn't happen until I was finally able to see a local chiropractor in my home town. Before, I had been going and doing regular visits at the doctors office, having my blood drawn constantly, and have all of these medications given to me. I was told that there wasn't going to be a cure for the reason my stomach was hurting and that most likely I was going to have chronic stomach pain the rest of my life. Well, being a child of 17 years old, that was not great news at all. Someone recommended that I go see a chiropractor, and I went for it. After all, if it didn't work, it wouldn't be the first time I was given bad news. I started seeing a woman in Fort Collins, and she put me on many supplements, and was adjusting me 1 time a week. After one month of seeing her, my pain was gone completely. Being the child I was, I stopped going completely after 2 months of seeing her. I thought I was ok and that all my problems would be solved. Here I am a year later, and the stomach issues came back. I was consistently throwing up and getting very ill after eating any food. I had just recently moved to Denver, and knew that I needed to get back into getting adjusted regularly. That's when I met Dr. Scott. I often have last-minute requests to be squeezed in and they always find a way to accomodate me. While they do not direct-bill your insurance, they will provide you with a super-bill to submit for reimbursement. I have never had any issues utilizing this process. They also have a great in-house massage therapist. I've been able to create a unique package and schedule between adjustments and massages.
