pra·na /prän/ noun,HINDUISM noun: prana…read morebreath, considered as a life-giving force. ton·ic /tänik/ adjective adjective: tonic giving a feeling of vigor or well-being; invigorating. Tai Chi class with John H. Parking lot is located behind the building with pay app or you can find street parking free up to two hours. I entered though the backdoor and you have to hike upstairs and go down a hallway to find the studio. Tai Chi (Tai Ji) is translated to many definitions it could mean great limit, duality, polar, with polarity revealing opposing features such as hot/cold, up/down, dry/wet, day/night related to Yin and Yang. We could go down the rabbit hole and spend an entire semester reading about Chinese folklore and Tai Chi Quan 太极拳 sometimes refer to as Shadow boxing. But the review is here at PranaTonic. John the instructor was very approachable and welcomed me and introduced all the class members. We had about 6 students in our hour long class. The class is very slow and meditative, Tai Chi focuses on the internal spirit of Qi "energy". This is not an Martial Arts class, it's more about balancing the body and mind. Couple students said they come to Tai Chi to help with arthritis, which supports my belief that energy movement jumpstarts our lymphatic system and promotes blood flow. This studio is a multi use space offering yoga, meditation, and even BJJ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The office also offers acupuncture. PranaTonic is a great find right in the heart of downtown Golden. Will be back to try more classes!

I didn't feel intimidated at this studio like I have felt at the other chain studios. The place has a clean & peaceful vibe. They have great specials for new student so I'd definitely recommend giving this beautiful studio a try!

She was treating many of my friends so, when I asked the 5th person in my close circle who they saw for acupuncture and their response was, "Kate, here's her info..." the answer was clear. I immediately went online and emailed her about an appointment. I won't go into all the details about what I saw Kate for (the list is too long) but, I will tell you that from the first time you meet her, you love her and you will see/feel/experience a shift. No guarantees, just my own truth. She's bright, kind, thoughtful, and really knows what the fuck she's talking about. She studied acupuncture in China, has a degree in psychology, and is incredibly passionate about Chinese Medicine and her patients. Your first appointment is a bit longer than the normal treatments. You are asked to fill out a very detailed questionnaire before you arrive. I highly recommend you do this. Don't be that person who forgets because the only person you'll be cheating is yourself. During your first appointment, you spend a great deal of time going over this document so be honest and thoughtful with your responses. Like I said before, your body is unique to you and so will your treatments. Your body evolves and your treatments will too. I worked through many things with Kate and my treatments. She sees beyond the norms and is someone I trust. I hope you enjoy your time with her as much as I did. I've since moved to a new state/city but plan on visiting her for a session every time I'm in Denver.

Kate changed EVERYTHING. Our bodies are deeply personal and, therefore, fragile. Kate understands this and gently eases you into the world of acupuncture by truly hearing you and spending time going over your entire health history. She is so warm, inviting, and knowledgable, explaining concepts to you in a way that makes you feel safe and supported. I cannot recommend her enough....and I do to everyone I know! She is changing lives, one appointment at a time. Eastern Traditions has certainly changed my life, and now I can't imagine what it was like before I started seeing her. I feel completely comfortable in her clinic, which is so soothing and warm. She encourages honesty, but does not hold any judgement and she LISTENS. What a gift! I am so grateful she was recommended to me by close friends. Thank you for all that you do, Kate!

Jennifer Brookstone has been seeing Dr. Mark for something like ten years now. She was injured in a…read morefall, in 1993, and developed CRPS - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in her right leg. It's an extremely painful nerve pain syndrome. For years, she was on pain drugs, but the pain kept getting worse and worse. By around 2006, she was taking about 70mg a day of Methadone, and it still wasn't keeping the pain under control. She was literally at the point where she felt like she couldn't take it anymore, and didn't know what to do. I suggested, that as a last resort, maybe she could try Acupuncture. We found an Acupuncturist named Marcus Rhoden, who later partnered with Mark VanOtterloo in the same office. After working on her for some time, Marcus started getting the pain better. In fact he was able to eventually get Jennifer off of the Methadone and manage the pain very well. Marcus eventually moved out of the state, and left Jennifer in the care of Mark. He has continued, to this day, to keep the pain managed and she no longer takes drugs for it. Jennifer sees him twice a week and we think he's simply the best. In fact, he's so great that he teaches Acupuncture, and has been lecturing around the country on his expertise. So if you've been thinking of getting the help of a top notch Acupuncturist, we highly recommend Dr. Mark VanOtterloo.

As a last resort, I decided to try acupuncture and through a personal recommendation, I became a patient of Dr. Mark Van Otterloo in Wheat Ridge, Colorado in October. Gradually through his excellent care, the frequency decreased dramatically, and I am living a much more pain-free life. He is a very gentle practitioner, explains everything in full, and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Mark for any of your needs. I truly feel Blessed to have found him.
