Dr. Shupe and the Accelerate Health staff are exceptional. I came to their practice with a bulged and herniated disc in my neck. Multiple surgeons recommended artificial disc replacements but I thought I would give his practice a chance before scheduling the surgery. Dr. Shupe started with chiropractic, decompression therapy and dry needling, followed by a PT regiment at his office. With the help of Dr. Shupe and his office's very knowledgeable PT specialist Dr. Lowder, I currently have little to no pain at all in my neck. Accelerate Health is a little gem! I have seen a couple of the providers at multiple locations and they are all so great. I have seen Dr Downing through both of my pregnancies and postpartum and I can not say enough great things about her. I love that extra time is spent stretching and working things out before and after each adjustment. My husband is a patient as well and he loves that they implement additional modalities when needed like dry needling and muscle scraping. If you are looking for a new chiropractor try them out. Dr. Downing is an incredible chiropractor! She was recommended by my doula and by so many moms on my mom Facebook groups. I went to see her late in my pregnancy for some pain in my foot & lower back, as well as to get my body prepared for labor/delivery. She is so knowledgeable about the body, and helped me understand what was happening so that I could feel more empowered to help myself! She gave me realistic and easy-to-follow exercises and interventions to use in between sessions. I did not feel like she was selling her services but genuinely wanted to help me feel good inside my body. Additionally, she is so personable and friendly! Her warmth and care helped me feel comfortable right away. She even remembered things that we had talked about from session to session (like our shared love of Steamboat Springs!), which made me feel like I was more than just a patient. The office itself is beautiful and all of the staff members are super helpful and kind. The only draw back is there is not a designated parking area, but there is plenty of free parking along Lincoln. Now that I'm a month postpartum, I can't wait to schedule another appointment with Dr. Downing to help with the recovery process!! read more

A year and a half ago, I visited Dr. Downing for the first time after spending thousands of dollars on months of visits to other doctors related to back spams and pain. In about a month, Dr. Downing was not only able to correct the issues but teach me how to correct the poor habits that had led to these issues. I am really torn with this review. Obviously every.single.other.review is 5 stars including my previous one. I have become the odd man out that had a personally off putting experience that is not indicative of what their service is like. However, my last visit to Accelerate made me never want to return. I had been seeing Dr Krause for an IT band issue plus general chiropractic work and she was doing AMAZING work. My marathon training schedule was pretty grueling and I was trying to stay ahead of all the little pains and aches by visiting Accelerate. They took my insurance and I could walk there in about 15 minutes. It was all too perfect. The work they do is phenomenal, they offer massage, and the Dr Krause was knowledgeable and helped educate as well as heal. She is the reason this isn't a one star review. On my last visit, I was going in for a massage. First time for a massage at this location. I thought a sports massage would help more than a massage from Massage Envy or a similar place. I never felt like a welcomed patient during this visit. I did feel as though the massage therapist was disgusted she had to touch me. That sounds harsh, and may not at all be true, but it was the impression I got. She never seemed present in the room. Never into the massage. Just not there. You could cut the dissatisfaction from all parties in the room with a knife. After the massage, I returned to the front desk to make a payment. Knowing I had made multiple visits at the full price, and what the admin had told me about my benefits before, I asked how close I was to meeting my deductible as I was making my payment. The front desk admin snapped, and I mean audibly snapped at me with, "I don't know!" I was so startled I imagine that I just stood there catching flies with my mouth. She started to cover her initial response by trying to explain how the insurance process works, how the payment system works, and that she would have to look at my account. All of that was still explained very angrily and with what felt like a sneer. I'm not sure of the structure of their patient management system, but I imagine if she is taking my money then that is going into my account which would have to be up in front of her at the time. She asked if I wanted to schedule another appointment and I told her I would need to check my schedule. Her response was inaudible, under her breath, and indicative of the fact that she was completely cognizant of her behavior. I don't think I could get out of there fast enough. I know this is a single experience among a sea of glowing reviews. But it was so out of the blue, actually scary, and anti-customer service that I don't ever want to return. I was so excited. And this place is so great. I think if I had already been a patient for a while with dozens of visits on the books, a single bad day wouldn't have affected me. But because it happened so early in our history, I can't see myself returning. I can recommend this place. They are good. But please heed this as a cautionary tale. read more

I prefer not to dwell on negativity and I've never written a bad review in my life, but my experience at Accelerate Health still haunts me. A few years ago I had a bad car accident, and went to see Dr. Shupe. I was hit by a car turning in an intersection when I had right of way through a green light (they almost killed me and were at fault). I saw him a total of 5 visits. His actual skill as a chiropractor was OK, however my complaint lies in the fact that he is a seedy character and runs a corrupt practice. He clearly had a deal cut with a law firm for referrals, and kept pressuring me to talk to his 'lawyer friend' and hire him for a personal injury lawsuit, despite the fact I never expressed any interested or intent re: a lawsuit. He also advocated multiple times I go see a psychologist to 'build my case' about how the accident had traumatized me, despite me telling him I didn't think that was necessary. Over the course of a few visits, he wouldn't drop it, so I eventually did just speak with the lawyer. I then told the lawyer and Shupe that I appreciated the consideration, but ultimately wasn't interested in hiring a lawyer at the time. Shupe's response was incredibly unprofessional, he acted very dramatic and personally offended, and scolded me for not hiring the lawyer. Additionally, once time I came in and Shupe instructed the front desk rep to put electric simulators on my back. She was NOT a trained medical professional and was confused about where they should be placed -the whole thing was very awkward. MOST importantly - in my first session, Shupe made multiple comments about how I was so messed up due to the accident, and said I'd probably have to be seeing him for at least a few months. I ended up seeing him a total of 5 visits over the course of a couple weeks, and told him I was seeking treatment elsewhere, as I found him to be unprofessional. In his final documentation of his treatment for me (which he wrote THREE MONTHS after my treatment), he indicated my pain levels were down to 1/10 and that I was "90%" better, and that was why he was discharging me from treatment. This was supposed to be a professional medical report that was full of BLATANT LIES about my health, being 'discharged' when I left at my own will, and overall caused me further issues in getting compensation for the treatment I got afterward. FYI, I went to Denver Sports Recovery and the difference in skill and professionalism was night and day - I highly recommend anyone in the Denver area seek treatment at DSR instead. read more

In spite of it being Spring, I am clearly not a spring chicken. Luckily, without mockery or judgment, Dr. Shupe got me back on my feet ASAP after a bout of "WTF, that never used to hurt...", and the dreaded, "But I used to recover the next day." The Great: + The Doc - Dr. Shupe was skilled, personable, and was able to quickly break things down into layman's terms and help me with my woes. Oh, and he's got a great sense of humor. Dr. Shupe is the man! I get shoulder impingement from time to time. It's super painful and sucks the big one. I am so thankful he's able to put me back together every time. It's more than just an "adjustment" he stretches you, deep tissue massages area of trouble, breaks up scar tissue and dry needles. It's kind of a torturer chamber for me, because of what I got going on, but if he gives me the works and doesn't hold back I end up feeling better in the long run. Despite the pain that gets inflicted upon me at Accelerate Health, I look forward to the appointment and know it's a necessary treatment. I am very appreciative of Dr Shupe. Dr. Downing is the best and a life saver! First, I was close to having surgery on my elbow several years ago due to severe tennis elbow. Dr. Downing said DO NOT have surgery, let me work on your elbow over the next couple of months. After several treatments of Graston, my tennis elbow went away completely! Next, she's the nicest and best chiro in town. And lastly, her clinic just got a new laster for soft tissue and joint healing. The thing is amazing and you have to give it a try. I moved to Denver two years ago and have a history of back pain due to a car accident when I was a kid. I've been to a couple other chiropractors including the Joint. They all felt like they were just trying to take my money by trying to get me to come back for another visit after visit. I first went to Michael, at the recommendation of my personal trainer, about two months ago after seriously injuring my lower back while bouldering. I had debilitating pain and limited range of movement and knew I needed expert help. While I have been to an acupuncturist once or twice over the years, I never really stuck to a regime (which I now understand is important, in order for acupuncture to truly be effective). I went to Michael for hour treatments once a week, and between Mike and bodywork specialist (see my 5-star review of Jay Kratz who's Sacred Space Bodywork practice is out of Accelerate Health) not only is the lower back pain gone, so are the regular sleeping issues (waking up at 3am from back pain) I experienced prior to my injury. Mike is professional, intuitive, compassionate, centered, and knowledgeable. He is an excellent listener and observer and always is ready to show me exercises to aid in the improvement of my body's structure and well-being. When I was in the height of pain, he also would purchase these amazing herbal heat patches from the Chinese School of Medicine for me. Now I see Mike about once a month for "maintenance" and still enjoy my sessions. I highly recommend anyone looking for a new acupuncturist to continue their treatments with, or to anyone interested in starting treatments. read more

I have been going to Dr. Clark for almost 2 years, and have had such a great experience every time! From back or neck pain to aching feet, she takes care of everything. She has given me tips to improve my posture while sitting at my desk at work and has also recommended great supplements for my knee and ankle pain. So I've had chronic lower back pain for awhile because I keep tweaking it while lifting, and I've never really been to a Chiropractor because I always assumed "that which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger", and my back would heal itself, but after hurting it three weeks in a row, I caved and called Accelerate Health. Dr. Michelle Clark is incredible! First, she led me through some general questions to understand where the pain was, pain level, how I hurt it....then she had me go through some movements to test my flexibility and muscle strength, in order to pinpoint the issue. She hadn't even touched me before she started to talk about how she saw a problem with my left side. When she put her hands on my back she seemed to know the problem almost immediately. The guided me through some motions while massaging my hip flexors and lower back. She then pulled out a muscle chart and explained what the issue was and pointed to specific muscles. We finished the session with some stretches and exercises for me. No pain since. I can't believe it. I'm a believer. Plus, she's SO nice. Definitely recommend her for any type of service you might need! read more

I am an active middle-aged (gosh, how did that happen) woman. I originally went to Dr. Clark for tendonitis/tennis elbow in my right arm, which was the result of overuse in my job. I was getting to the point of thinking about having to change careers. As said in a previous review, I was treated with ART and given a series of stretching exercises to do a regular basis. I had to go back several times before there was total relief, but each time I went back, my arm was better and better, until the problem was solved. To fight menopausal weight gain(again, how could I be menopausal??) I started running again, resulting in runners knee. Once again, through ART and on-going strengh exercises, no more runners knee. I am a migraine sufferer. I mentioned this as an aside to Dr. Clark. Whereas my migraines were 1-2 a week, they are now 1-2 a month (at most). For this problem, I do have to go back periodically for chiropractic adjustment and ART but this is well worth it! Every 4-6 weeks, and for the first time in years I don't fear migraines. So if you have chronic pain, call Dr. Clark. Chances are she can help you! read more

I saw Dr. Downing for pregnancy-related sciatica. I have seen chiropractors for 40 years and had both good and bad experiences. Dr Clark is one of the Good experiences! She always pays attention to my needs and adjusts me correctly. There is no Pressure to come in all the time, pay for X-rays or any other " profit center" activity. She just takes care of business without trying to break your pocketbook. Long overdue but after some recent experiences I must give kudos to the staff at Accelerate Health. I have been seeing Dr. Clark for years, back when she was the owner over on Bannock St. I had some issues with an ankle and also some chronic back/neck issues and a family member had mentioned ART treatments, which I had never heard of. That is how I came across Dr. Clark many years ago, and the rest is history! She has helped me over the years with feet, sprained ankles, pulled abdominal muscles, and most importantly back and neck issues due to working a desk job. Every time I leave after receiving treatment I feel so much better, and she never fails to find a creative solution for whatever problem I'm having. She also recently collaborated with my physical therapist to work out some stubborn shoulder/rib issues I was having and got me back to feeling good in a hurry. I will acknowledge I haven't always been the biggest fan of chiropractors, but I highly recommend the staff at Accelerate Health and their approach to treatment.
