Checked this place out on a recommendation from a very hyped friend. Gotta say it did not disappoint! Actually I so thoroughly enjoyed my Chicken Katsu- BBQ Chicken combo plate that I'm writing this review as I sadly and very satisfyingly stare at my empty styrofoam togo box. First off the food is fantastic. The bbq Chicken tasted great, katsu was nice and crispy, macaroni/potato salad hearty and plentiful, and salad refreshing(I opted for chili oil as dressing). Staff is super friendly and nice. Seating maybe difficult as there are only bar seats. I didn't count but I think about 10 seats total. Location is eh but I didn't come here to sight see I came here to eat and loved it. Highly recommend for some great Hawaiian plates. Will try the spicy pork next time, tacos, and maybe the dessert as well. read more

Absolutely delicious. Good clean Hawaiian. Will certainly come back. Thank you! Enjoyed the mixed plate $11 of kaluha pork and bbq chicken. It was a wonderful sweet and salty contrast. Also had to get the spam wusabi. Perfectly grilled and DONT FORGET DESSERT. I may go back just to stock up on a box of aloha bars read more

Aloha Wagon just catered our wedding on Aug 15th, and they were the best! Hands down the BEST vendor I hired for the entire wedding. Not only did they make everything I wanted come to life, they were extremely helpful in planning, and making my wedding more beautiful. I ordered fresh, local pineapple on a stick, strawberry water, pineapple infused water, different options of Hawaiian food plates, and drinks. The thing that sticks out the most in my mind was how nice the two owners were. The topper was when they saw my cake stand wasn't as pretty as theirs, they happen to have a wedding cake stand in the truck and swapped it out while I was doing my business. It looked 100x better ;) I wanted to include my professional photographs from theknot below. If you are thinking about getting a food truck for your wedding, PLEASE trust me, you can't get any better than these guys! **Plus, the portions are HUGE** http://www.theknot.com/submit-your-wedding/photo/8fd4bc72-0653-4b48-b44f-2ecba639d85a/The-Jumps-Dreamy-Destination-Wedding read more

Recently, I accompanied a friend on her first visit to this delicious wagon. It was my first visit as well. I ordered the Aloha Burger and my mout' wen' broke with the teriyaki flavors mixed with pineapple! In Hawaiian, we call it ' ono! I also got a taste of their spicy pork and kalua pork offerings which made me commit to the chef that I'll definitely be visiting again -- and often. My statement would not be complete of I failed to mention the pineapple-coconut cheesecake. Cheesecakes are my personal weakness, and my taste buds in this case were bulging with true joy.. joy... joy read more

Solid option for hawaiian bbq. I try to get a different protein every time I come but somehow end up getting bbq chicken. My partner loves the spicy pork. Portions are huge for the price. Nicest person running it. He does all the prep and cooking by himself. Truly incredible read more

Wow. My wife and I just went here for the first time...the only thing that sucks is that we didn't try it earlier. Great food, great service, great vibe read more

I am taking a class across the street at the dep. of health and the instructor there recommended this place as a good cheap eat. He said it was a mix of "Filipino & Mexican" fusion! So being the starving person that I was, I thought I'd give it a try. Plus if a health inspector recommends it (a food truck) it must be good) Sure enough it was well worth it! I ordered a chicken plate. Nothing fancy, but tons of food, but oh how cheap! It's the "Perfect" Fusion I'd say! I loved it!!! It was great food quick service and lots of it! Tucked away from everything, but worth the hunt if you can find it! Definitely worth every penny!!! read more

Hawaiian/Filipino Comfort food at it's best. It's too bad it's a bit out of the ways, because I would be coming regularly for platters since they hit everything I need in a dive: cheap, filling, delicious. The portions are very generous; If you get a plate it comes loaded with rice, creamy mac salad, some side greens, and hot-off-the-grill portions of the meat you order. It's large enough to split into two meals, or you can eat it all and be stuffed. Plates run around $8.50-9.50, though if you're indecisive because almost everything is delicious, the mixed plate is $10.95. I almost always get that, because it's hard to choose just one meat. The Katsu is juicy and crunchy, the bbq meats have great char and marinade on them, the kahlua pork is tender. The sides were all excellent renditions, and you can grab a bottle of their katsu sauce to drizzle whenever you need an additional tangy kick. Plates aside, all the smaller items are delicious too, from the sandwiches(same meats but placed between two buns), spam musubi, and even their seasoned fries. If I had any complaints, it's that there's limited seating so you might start bumping elbows. I also wish the hours were longer; sometimes I get a craving beyond 2pm on a Saturday. read more

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile! So glad that we did! We called about 10 mins ahead to place an order and it was ready for us when we got there to pick it up. We ordered two combo lunch plates. Bbq chicken, chicken katsu, and hamburger steak. They definitely give you plenty for a lunch portion! We loved every bite. Great Mac salad, they put pieces of potato which I love. And then they also give you a regular green salad as well. I wanted to try their cheesecake bar but was told it's usually ready a little later in the afternoon. Must come back to try that soon. read more

The lady who works the register there was super sweet and helpful! Seems like she may be the owner? I ordered the mix plate of Hawaii bbq chicken and loco moco (2 homemade beef patties topped with an egg) which came with rice & gravy, potato mac salad, and side salad. Needless to say, the food is incredible here!!! The music is dope and it's an overall good vibe. I will definitely be back! read more

We were craving some Filipino-ish food and saw this on yelp. Even though it was a little out of the way, we decided to stop by to check out their take on Asian fusion. So glad we did because this place lives up to its 5 star rating! When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the owners. She was so sweet and patient while we tried to decide what to get. I was craving some musubi (since it's been a minute since I've had spam). The boy got a mixed plate with BBQ Chicken and Tocino. Dude...I don't really like tocino but their marinade was so amazing!!! If you're not Filipino and are unsure about tocino...let me just tell you that it's pork goodness. Order it! The location itself is tiny but they make up for it with their portion size. They give you so much and one mix plate can easily be shared between 2 people. But, get at least 2 mix plates so you can try other dishes. I wish we tried the Kahlua Pork or the Chicken Katsu. Maybe next time I'm in Chicago, I'll hit this place up again. Thanks Aloha Wagon for the great food! It satisfied my craving for some Asian/Filipino/Hawaiian comfort food. Definitely felt like mom's house! read more

This is definitely my go to place for chicken katsu. It's so good and I'm so glad it's not all the way in the north. My workplace had a potluck and I ordered their chicken katsu and everyone loved it! If you have a party, this is the place to order. I spoke with the owner and he is very nice with my order when I had to make some editions. read more

OK this is my last review for Aloha Wagon I PROMISE. Just want all of you Yelpers to know to call on Wednesday for their Filipino special of the day - which is only on Wednesday's. I stopped by yesterday to pick up their Pork Adobo because like I said in an earlier review, they could cook a tire on that grill and I would eat it!! The Pork Adobo didn't disappoint, succulent, flavorful, and tender. I only wish I had more of it AND that I picked up their other Wednesday Special - Filipino style Meatloaf!! Meeeeatloooooaf, . . . . . ahhhhhhhhh. read more

So so good, it reminds me of home. Everything was plentiful and the meat was juicy but not oily and that made all the difference.

After a trip to Vegas I fell in love with the Hawaiian BBQ concept. So much so that I had to have it when I got back to TheChi. I searched and found my fix. I ordered the AlohaBurger and the Hawaiian Chicken dinner. All I can say is...FixFixed!!! Richard definitely handles the grill. The spot is clean and inviting. Prices are in line with expectations. The portions are perfect. The lot out back is welcoming and safe. Don't wait too late --- they close at 7p. read more

Simply put... the food is fantastic! One bite and my memories of Maui came rushing back. This is authentic Hawaiian food; it's what the locals eat. Not what you find at the hotel restaurants but what you would find if you went out and wanted to sample the real local flavor. The Kalua Pork was moist and smoky. The Loco Moco was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Everything was just delicious. Highly recommend getting the mixed plate so that you can try a couple of things. Better yet, take a friend and try even more! Great experience overall; the owners are very knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be going back. read more

Well, this was nice! Based on other reviews here it seems that Hawaiian food is difficult to find in Chicago. (Wouldn't have known that ...) Aloha Wagon seems like a great addition to the limited roster. The owners are delightful people and the food is great. I had a stir fry with tofu, onions, and I can't remember what else. The seasoning was perfect, though, and I plan to get it again. My colleague had the Spam Masubi (uncertain of spelling) and pronounced it excellent. I wish Aloha Wagon the best. The location obviously has high visibility but also seems to be somewhat cursed. (The restaurant turnover has been fierce.) There's no obvious place to park, but I don't have the sense that it's difficult, either. It's not too far from the medical district, so walking would be an option. (That's what we did.) Anyway, highly recommended! read more

Delicious and fresh tasting good. The mixed combo BBQ chicken and pork was amazing. Highly recommend.

A great causal spot that supports Chicago AAPI community! I got takeout from here two different times, and both were great! Lunch plate came with White Rice, Potato Mac Salad & Mixed Green Salad, portion was super generous and taste was great!! I got the Grilled Fish Filet Plate & Kalua Pig Plate each time. The fish plate came with 2 pieces of white fish, very well seasoned and grilled wonderfully. Kalua pork plate presented the classic Hawaiian dish well with tender meat and cabbage. I cannot wait to try other dishes from Aloha Wagon and visit their store! read more

I came here because of the great reviews, but wasn't that impressed. The guys that worked there were very nice, and I was happy with the Service, but food wasn't good. The pork was fatty, which pretty much ruined it. Macaroni salad was good, but still nothing to write home about. read more

I used to live in Hawaii so I finally decided to check out a couple of "Hawaiian" BBQ places around the city (in HI they are called Korean BBQ). I have to talk about the mac salad first because real Hawaiian mac salad is iconic. The mac salad here is not the same: authentic Hawaiian mac uses bigger noodles, lots of mayo & a few slivers of carrots along with their secret flavoring which makes all of that mayo come back & haunt your dreams, which is why I'm still searching for it. The mac salad here does have a good flavor, but too much pepper & while the potatoes added are good, they just seem strange in the mac salad & would probably be better in a stand-alone potato salad. Apparently Hawaiian mac CAN be made with potatoes added, I've just never had it anywhere on Oahu. And luckily they don't ruin it by trying to add tons of mayo without the secret flavoring (a bad mistake I have made trying to replicate it myself. I do know the secret now, if anyone wants to know...). The Hawaiian grilled BBQ chicken is much closer to how I remember it from the places in Hawaii (on Oahu) where I used to go. Marinated, grilled pieces of chicken thighs, very tender & flavorful. One of the best things though, was the Kalua pork taco! It's not part of the traditional HI/Korean BBQ menu, but I will definitely come back for this! The pork had a great flavor, very tender also and they filled up the tortilla with plenty of meat along with onions & cilantro. I have to try the fish taco as well, it also looked really good. The Aloha cheesecake bars were also something new, but totally makes this place worthwhile (& another recipe I want to try to recreate, unless anyone wants to share it!) read more
