Used to eat here and actually enjoy it. I noticed the food quality has gone down a lot recently. The miso soup lacks flavor and is underwhelming. The poke bowl I received was also not very good, small portion sizes and you can tell the ingredients were not fresh. Hopefully they can prioritize quality indigents and more appropriate portion sizes.
I was never a fan of Aloha Poke when it first opened but I'm about giving second chances and yet it still failed to meet my expectations. Service super terrible. I was waiting to get my to go order and asked one of the workers and her reply was she doesn't know. Once I asked the cashier, she was able to give my order that has been sitting there. There needs to be a better system for pick up orders. Why are we waiting in the same line as people just taking orders? The worker looked like she didn't even want to be there. On another note, parking here is terrible. Belmont street is always so busy you can barely find a spot to park ever.
I was excited to try out this place since it was my first time trying poke but ended up really disappointed. The rice was rock hard like it was left out for a long time or extremely undercooked, it made me a bit concerned about how fresh the fish was. I ordered take out as there's no option to sit inside the store. The employee who passed me my order was pretty rude and dismissive as well. Although my bowl looked really good, the taste was just not fresh. I don't think I'll be back.
I've been here many times and typically love it, but today's experience was not up to par. The white rice base was stale and had chunks of hard rice. It was also very cold, like it had been taken out of the fridge instead of warm and soft from the rice maker. Aside from the stale rice, the other toppings and marinated fish tasted fresh and I absolutely love the sauces and crunch topping. I took my meal to go and ate it by the lake since the inside of the restaurant doesn't seem like a very welcoming place to dine in.
Ugh, I usually love poke bowls but was not happy that this place got my order wrong. It costs too much money for them to make mistakes. They should have an order sheet that you fill out and hand in at the cash register like the downtown location. I ordered half salad and half rice as the base and only got the salad. Makes a big difference as the salad does not fill you up. Unfortunately I only saw this when I got home since they put it in a paper bag when they hand it to you. So make sure to check your order before you leave!!!!! I will say that all the employees there were super nice. Just not sure if I would come back to this specific location.
I was apartment hunting and I needed a quick bite that I could eat on the go. Yes, poke is a great handheld, light and hearty food! I love a fast-concept restaurant and the food gave me everything I wanted. Freshness (the tuna was amazing considering we are nowhere near a coastline), savory, flavor and crunch. For the price, I received A LOT of food. So much was packed into the bowl. This will definitely be my new go-to when I need a quick bite.
Aloha Poke Co made me a poke LOVER!!!! I love my poke with either marinated shrimp, marinated tuna, or marinated chicken. I MUST have the seaweed salad in mine because it is the best part!! I get all the veggies. The jalapeño is a nice subtle kick. I like it with the volcano sauce and the crunch. You can customize your own poke to fit what you like. Highly recommend the seaweed salad option. It is really fun creating your own masterpiece poke bowl! I like ordering it for lunch or dinner. You don't feel bloated after eating it also!
Small and intimate, when I walked in there was no one else there, but several employees working behind the counter. I was a little bit like a fish out of water, see what I did with that pun!? I have been to other poke places before but this was a little different because instead of being predominantly build your own bowl, they offer combinations that have already been created. I was a bit overwhelmed by the options. So I just went with a medium bowl and ordered a little greens and rice mixture. From there, I said I want the salmon and then I just asked the employee for recommendations. I took her advice and wasn't disappointed. Though, now I have no idea what all I ordered and probably won't be able to order it again. A few notes of things I didn't love: the size of the bowl was rather small in my opinion. There is a larger size, but even that seems a bit smaller than the portion I would expect for $14. Then the only fish options were tuna or salmon and I'm used to a wider selection of fish. The assembling of the bowl does happen in the open, but it isn't like a subway assembly style where you can pick and choose your ingredients as you go. I recognize those are minor gripes so overall, I would definitely say that the food was fresh and tasty. It's a great way to customize to your own taste and feel good about eating something somewhat healthy.
Aloha Poke is pretty much perfection for me! There are now four locations between Chicago & Evanston, but this Lakeview location is closest to home for me. I love that there is a pretty healthy option nearby that is completely customizable to my tastes. The small size is 8 ozs for $7.50 and more than enough food! You can get double the size for just $2 more though, which is hard to pass up. You can even get a Kahuna bowl for $16.50 which is 24 ounces...probably great when dining with another person or two. You then pick white rice, brown rice or greens as your base, then Ahi Tuna, Salmon or Tofu as your Poke (marinated or not), you can then choose 1 of 7 sauces and finally you can pick from a ton of ingredients to top it all with! Too many options? They have three pre-picked bowls to make life easier. But for me, I want what I want! And I love being able to have everything I love in one tasty bowl. Every ingredient is fresh and delicious leading you to a (hopefully) tasty bowl! But really, it's all on your if there's something in there you aren't feeling. I made what I felt was my perfect poke bowl this past weekend - fresh with some spice & crunch, oh yessssss! Poke forever!

Super duper happy with this place.. I ordered a large bowl for first time. Found an app that reward frequent customer so am even more ecstatic. First visit to Aloha in Lincoln Park went well with two kind males behind counter. While I prefer cauliflower rice, the white rice wasn't so bad! read more
I'm so happy that Aloha Poke Company has a Chicago store located outside of downtown Chicago! I've been curious about the food and been wanting to try this out for some time. I never had the opportunity till now because prior to their opening in Chicago, there was a lack of poke shops. Poke has a strong presence in the western parts of the US and thankfully, the cuisine finally made its way here in the Midwest! Aloha Poke is a great fast casual option focusing solely on Hawaiian style poke. You can create your own freshly made poke bowl or order a bowl off their preset menu. Their bowls come in 3 sizes (little, BIG, or KAHUNA) depending on your appetite. Their smallest size starts around 8 dollars (after taxes). The seafood, tofu, and ingredients are fresh and when mixed with their choice of sauces, the bowl is absolutely scrumptious! They are located in the hip and vibrant Lakeview shopping district. It's a popular new business and has become a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Seating is limited to bar stools and will seat at max 10 people comfortably. Parking is metered and street side only. read more
I've been to the original location inside the West Loop French Market. I was very exciting to see another one opening in Boystown, near the southwest corner of Clark and Belmont. This one has stool seating, though the space is quite limited. I believe the menu, perhaps the price of each item, are identical to the one in French Market, with choices of fish or protein: naked or marinated ahi tuna, salmon, and tofu; choices of base: white rice, brown rice, and mixed greens. I picked "crunch," another pre-set combination. Here's a tip for you: if you want to "even out" the crunch texture while enjoying your bowl, give a good stir. Otherwise, the jalapeños and tobiko crunch are going to be aggregated on top, and there would only be rice and fish/protein left on the bottom of the bowl. Complementary cucumber water is provided for customers. I did see many people order the "kahuna" size. For $15 I guess you can split this into two (2) meals if you will. The funny thing was I kept on saying "kakuna," like the one in Pokemon. Hubby reminded me not to get so into the game. Venturing this part of Lakeview/Boystown is always fun. I come this way often since my hair salon is literally a block away. Even if you aren't a seafood lover or are a strict vegan, fill your bowl with tofu. Try this place out...and maybe thank me later? read more

Unfortunately this place has gone down hill since they originally opened. My order was incorrect, the rice had too much of crunch to it (undercooked), and there were 2 small brownish pieces of avocado that were hard and inedible. There was also a crazy amount of ginger (1/8 of the bowl). They omitted the seaweed salad for onions which I didn't realize until I after I left and the whole bowl had an onion flavor to it as a result. For $12, it's not worth it. The $10 poke bowls from Mariano's are fresher. read more

We love Aloha Poke but the last couple of times we have ordered via Grubhub the avocado was rotten and black. Not sure how they can serve spoiled food, and you pay extra for the avocado too! read more

YAAAAAS! I love this place and make sure to stop in each time I'm home in Chicago. What I get: Big (medium), white rice, tuna or salmon (I like the salmon the most), rice seasoning, maui onion (raw), edamame, pineapple, avocado (you don't have to pay extra!), extra crunch and extra samurai sauce. SO TASTY. They have many options, and if you can't decide there are 3 house creations you can go with. Not the best place to eat and hang out with your friends as there is limited seating. Good to-go meal. Tip: Ask for your meal in the next size up bowl- this will allow you to have more room to mix your food! read more

Expensive for what you get and oh god! Please fix your rice! It is undercooked. I read previous reviews and thought that it was probably a one time thing, but the white rice we got was definitely undercooked. Also definitely dont order the 7.5 oz small bowl. We ordered on grubhub and didnt know what it would look like: well it was tiny. I dont even know why they would offer that size except if it was under kids menu. read more
Went here for the first time with friends from work who recommended it. All I can say it was fresh and tasty. I had the half tuna and half salmon with greens. Great mix and that red hot sauce adds some spice to it. I will try something different next time. But I think it is a great place for a healthy lunch. read more

What a sweet surprise! My daughter found this place and we decided to give it a try. There was another poke place enroute to this one. We chose here because of the higher ratings. I was a bit hesitant because no one was here. It's a small place that most people must use for takeout. There is a bar with chairs at the window where you sit facing the sidewalk for viewing purposes. They did mess up our orders...mixing what I ordered with my daughter's and vice verse. They happily made it right. All the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. There are different size bowls you can get and we were satisfied with the medium size bowl, since it was lunch time. Several regular customers came in while we were eating. One woman eats here 3-4 times/week. As we were traveling throughout Chicago, we did notice other Aloha Restaurants; this this may be a chain. This is a great place to get poke bowls with tons of other vegetables and sauces! I'd go back here in a heartbeat! The employees were very helpful and customer focused. Thank you. read more
I love poke! I enjoyed it much more than I expected. Everything tasted so fresh. Poke is pretty much like hwe dup bop from Japanese restaurants with the exception of being given your own options for toppings. I haven't been to the other locations in Chicago but I thought the location was clean and the staff friendly. It's funny, like other reviewers have said, they messed up my order as well but gave us another one for free! In this case, mess-ups are welcome :) :) I got mine with sauce on the side. A great tip left by another yelper! I also felt the "big" was a good portion. My friend got the kahuna and ended up taking the rest of it home. I did think the spam jars with plants were cute but staring at the soil while eating my food was pretty unappetizing. All in all, I want to go back! Totally worth it and the prices aren't bad as well! read more

Loved this place! I have been looking forward to trying Aloha Poke for months now. I stopped in last Thursday and ordered a small half salmon and half tuna bowl w brown rice. I added Maui onions, crunch, avocado and the aoli sauce. I thought the bowl was tasty and just enough food for me. They ended up giving me white rice. Not a big deal. And I took off the onions because I didn't really care for them. It's affordable and fast. I wish street parking was a bit easier here. But it's close to the Belmont EL. I'd go back! read more
I fell in love with Poke from my previous Hawaii trips, so I was excited Aloha Poke opened up near my bestie's place. The place was small, clean, and cute. Their menu was efficient and provided flexible options. There are three bowl sizes to choose from (small, big, kahuna); I chose the "big" and was surprised how deep the bowl actually was. Very reasonably priced, and I love how you can pick one or all the toppings at no extra charge! Had the marinated ahi tuna with volcano sauce. So yummy and the tuna portion was generous (actually couldn't finish all the tuna.) Fresh and flavorful, I wish Aloha Poke was closer to my place! read more
