Every time I choose a place to go to I always think they do an okay job, but this place ALOHA Nails and Boutique, they give quality, gentleness to the touch and true care when they did my toes and hands. It felt like I had a Lil spa day. I found my nail place not only for special occasions, but ill definitely be treating myself to getting pampered like this more often! Also, the water was spa warm, hot and relaxing when getting my toes done scrub was relaxing and they have WARM lotion/oil to put not only on your feet, but all the way up to your calf, then of course the warm towel. Nail services are great, but there is some room for improvement when it comes to customer service. The first time I came here the technician I think here name is "Holly" was extremely kind & friendly! So I decided to give them a second go. Since I don't get my nails done as often as I used to I did a walk in & the plus side was sat down immediately. The downside Holly was not there so I tried a different technician for my pedicure & got convinced into a manicure as well. They assign 2 technicians so it is done simultaneously. My pedicure was done by Andrew & he was very patient as well with me... I have a bad knee & reconstructed ankle so sometimes I have to be readjusted often. I'm not sure of the ladies name that did my manicure, but she was nice. Just definitely didn't seem to be patient actually got irritated that one of my nails wouldn't dry as quickly as the others. This was out of my control maybe they need to upgrade the dryers they use? I'm not sure, but I don't think I would allow her to do my nails again unless she was the only option left. The location is off of Rancho California & Ynez near the AMC between a vape shop & jilbertos. Pricing is reasonable & salon is very clean! I initially read a mix of reviews about this place from NextDoor, Yelp, etc with the negative reviews standing out. However, I decided to give it a try anyway since it's so conveniently located by my house & to give it a chance. I asked for a regular mani w/gel & regular pedi w/callous remover. First, the nail color on my feet was not the one I picked. The tech was insistent it was the right one, even though the color I chose was a dark pink, & I ended up with a Barbie pink. It wasn't worth arguing w/her. The lady doing my fingernails ended up having the wrong color too, & got up to switch it before I said anything. Seems like their nail colors were mislabeled or disorganized. Then the pedi tech told me I was being charged $82 when the total should have been $72 ($35 mani & $37 pedi). I asked her what the extra $10 charge was for, & SHE decided to give me the deluxe mani gel instead for $45 "because it will last longer." She never asked me for consent in getting the deluxe mani instead or broke down the charges, just gave me the total. In the end, the same deceitful tech overcharged me $5 on the bill & I had to go back to have it corrected. This is my first & last time that place is getting my business. It was a Sat morning & only 1 other customer was there when I arrived. At my previous nail salon on a Sat morning, it would already be packed. Now I know why this one wasn't. If your business practice is to be deceitful & sneaky in charging customers for services they did not ask for, then you're setting up yourself for failure as a small business. Good luck trying to stay afloat in this economy. Never giving any loyal business to those that don't establish trust with customers. Just. Terrible. Not bad, not great. I scheduled two mani/pedis (regular polish for me, gel for my son's girlfriend). Pros: -It was easy to get a same-day appointment on a Saturday afternoon. -Staff were friendly / nice. -Salon seemed clean. Cons: -Nail polish chipped off of a few nails by day three and I had to remove it and repaint them myself. -No lotion on hands (I got a regular manicure and didn't expect much, but my hands looked dry after). Now I know most people that paint their nails know that regular polish doesn't last nearly as long as gel or acrylic, but three days is pathetic. I got a mani/pedi last month in La Jolla- regular polish, comparable prices, and the polish was still on when I walked in to Aloha. It had been three weeks and the polish from previous manicure hadn't chipped at all (it was definitely worn off on the tips, but not chipped). Maybe the particular polish they used on me (the gel color without the gel treatment (uv)) was old or doesn't last when used as a non gel/uv product. Overall, not a bad place. It was still a relaxing experience, nothing BAD happened, everyone was nice, but I will likely not ever go back. read more

If you read any review, read this one. Lauren made everything special for me. I have been looking for a GOOD nail salon for two years. I felt bad going in last minute but the gentleman who did my nails went above and beyond. He paid attention to detail, asked me if everything was okay, and it was beyond okay. it was perfect. So much so that i started to cry. Since becoming a mom it's been hard for me to find time for myself and when i saw the excellent quality that was just poured into myself i couldn't help but cry. Don't come here. Waste of money and a bad experience. First of all, the woman doing my nails was aggressively trying to upsell me. I told her I only wanted regular polish and she told me about 10x that the regular polish wouldn't last the day. I've had my nails done with regular polish 1000 times and the regular polish stays on fine. It's not as resistant as gel polish but this woman insisted that her regular polish wouldn't even last the day. If it won't last a literal day, why is it a service you offer? She even told me "don't complain when it comes off". Ultimately she wasn't wrong that the polish would come off before the end of the day, but not because of the nail polish quality- rather it was because of the fact that she did a really bad job painting them. She painted all over my fingers and there was smudges on the nail before I even left the chair. I didn't get a full manicure, so I didn't expect a perfect manicured look but how did she get nail polish on the opposite side of my fingers? Ultimately it was rushed and I think she was annoyed because I didn't cave when she incessantly attempted to upsell me. My sister got a full manicure and asked for a pink polish. She was also harassed about the gel upgrade. The woman doing her nails did not show her colors and put a rushed couple coats of sheer pink on her nails, even though she asked for a baby pink. Her nails do not look painted at all. The man who did my pedicure did a beautiful job (with regular polish too) and was nice. No complaints with him. That being said, I would still recommend you don't come here because you may risk getting one of the women we got. Needless to say, never coming back. read more

I came here with my daughter. A pedicure for me and a manicure for my daughter. For my daughter's manicure, I was impressed by the technician's, detailed work. If my daughter was happy, then I am happy. For my pedicure, I was extremely satisfied by the male nail technician. I noticed that this place uses an electric nail file, which I personally think gives better results for a smooth finish. I've only encountered one other salon 20 years ago, that utilized that instrument. The salon is a cozy nook with just enough space to get the job done. Although the pedicure chairs seemed fairly new, I wasn't satisfied with the results it gave for a back massage. Needed a nail repair ASAP.Came across Aloha nails on Yelp looked at the reviews and pictures, sent a message via Yelp as they weren't open yet. Received a response in less than 10 minutes. I sent a text and received a call within another 10 minutes. I spoke with Lauren and explained what service I was seeking. She told me I could come in now to be assisted. I arrived was greeted by Lauren and immediately my service began. From 10AM-12N Lauren and Andrew did my nails. I sat in the pedicure chair and both services were completed there-WHICH I LOVE! I was able to enjoy the massaging chair for my entire service. Lauren and Andrew both paid VERY CLOSE attention to my nails and made sure I was pleased with the outcome. ** Update Lauren was very nice and brought me in and fixed my pedicure! I got a pedicure today and was happy at first but after my gel was removed a new technician took over to do my French tip. Unfortunately I was cut during my pedicure and the alcohol burned. I also had a small piece of my nail missing and asked for an acrylic. My usual tech used to just put a small piece of acrylic to fix the nail but today I had my entire nail was covered in acrylic which didn't feel necessary. I asked for a flower and the technician did it over 3 times. I didn't want to be rude after asking them to redo it so many times so I just excepted it. I really think they wanted me to be happy and they tried their best but for 55 dollars and no gel it felt expensive to not be happy. The French tip itself is also very thick. After a bad first experience, I gave this place another chance, but after this second visit, I won't be returning. From the moment my mom and I walked in, the atmosphere felt tense, as if they assumed we wouldn't pay. The staff was rude throughout, making the experience worse. During my first visit with my mom, something else that stood out was how they handled payment. While we were still in the middle of our pedicures, a staff member brought the ATM tap machine directly to our chairs and asked us to pay right then. We thought maybe she had to leave or something, so we paid, but then she just moved on to the next client. It felt strange and uncomfortable, since you usually pay at the end. It honestly came across like they wanted us to leave already, which added to the awkward experience. The service was rushed from start to finish. There's a difference between being efficient and careless, and our pedicures were done so quickly that it was obvious little attention was given to us. The man with glasses doing my pedicure kept pulling on my leg, making it uncomfortable. When he handled my hands the same way, I told him I didn't want the manicure anymore. Despite this, I was still charged $25 for a manicure I never received. I left with bare nails and had to apply clear polish at home. In total, I paid $70 for a pedicure with regular polish and a half-done manicure with no polish. Based on the quality, I'd value the pedicure at about $30 and the basic nail grooming at $10-15. There's no reason to pay $70 to be treated poorly and not receive what you paid for. This place is overpriced, unprofessional, and not worth the money. I regret giving it a second chance. read more

This was not a good experience for me. They absolutely destroyed my nails. I went in with a gel manicure, just the gel polish over my natural nail. Instead of soaking them off, they decided to take the drill to them even after I asked her multiple times to not do this. She kept coming up with an excuse as to why it needed to be done. When the truth is, she was just too lazy to sit and let them soak for a couple minutes. She was trying to be quick. My gel manicure also was not cured properly so of course later that evening, on the same day that I got my nails done, my whole nail like smears off I'll show a picture. And it's like doing that and some of my other nails too. It was still sticky.. my nails are so thin now that they hurt. They did not hurt before I went into this nail salon. A chow manicure is such an easy basic nail service. The fact that they managed to damage my nails this badly is crazy. I don't have the money to afford to go get them redone somewhere else so I'm just going to have to have my nails like this so I don't know how long and I definitely do not want to go back into there and have them manage my nails in any way. Just to make this very clear, again, I went in with gel polish over my natural nail. No extensions nothing crazy very simple. I left the salon in pain nails so thin I am honestly in shock. I'm gonna call tomorrow and request a refund. I didn't even have the energy to do it yesterday. I asked MULTIPLE TIMES TO NOT USE THE DRILL ON MY HANDS AND FOOT AS IT SIMPLY WAS NOT NEEDED!!! I am visiting the area, so I just stopped in for a mani/pedi. The ladies were able to take me immediately, which was nice. The person doing the pedicure was very thorough and did a wonderful job. However, the second person who did the manicure never said a word and hurt me several times. She did not soak my cuticles and just started aggressively pushing them back and then snipping/tugging them with scissors. I pulled my hand away several times. She just sat there with her hand out waiting for me to put my hand back. She also used a drimal to rough up my nails and frequently drimmaled onto the skin. I had my nails done on Monday and here it is Thursday with these scabs on my fingers with a nice manicure. I would be hesitant to go there again simply because of the rushed double-team process and the aggressive manicure from the older women. read more

But my boys were getting a cut down the street and I took the chance and stopped into Aloha Nails & Boutique Mind you, I came in w both my big toes chipped on the sides and wanted a gel French tip pedicure. The lady doing my toes was so sweet & was trying to work with my chipped toes. The French tip almost seemed impossible because of my toes but I knew that coming in. Lauren (owner) overheard our conversation about my chipped toe nails, & kindly offered her help. She stepped in & was extremely thorough in making sure they looked "perfect" and to her standards. I came here because of the positive reviews, but I fought uphill the entire time. I didn't ask for anything too complicated - dip manicure + French + square rounded shape and a gel pedicure. I came in with long natural nails after taking a break from getting my nails done monthly, and so I think they assumed I didn't know what I wanted. The first strike was when she told me she needed to cut my already-long natural nails to put tips on so they'd be even. I obliged to make it easy for her. As the manicure progressed, I had to fight her on length, nail thinness, shape, and tip thinness. She just would not listen to me or she would tell me she wasn't done yet. When she told me my nails were done, all the nails on my left hand were sticking up at a weird angle. They were 2x as thick as my right hand and looked really funky. She blamed it on my nail beds, then she blamed it on me needing tips. At this point, there were 8 women in-appointment or waiting, but only four nail stylists. I could tell she was getting frantic. We went through a couple rounds of her trying to fix it, but I think the nails needed to be completely redone. As for the pedicure, I could see my skin under the polish when she said she was done. My cuticles were also covered in polish. I hate to write a bad review about a small business, but this was a terrible experience. I'm 8 months pregnant, and this was supposed to be relaxing for me. I spent almost three hours under hot lights, in an uncomfortable position, and arguing to get through a simple manicure and pedicure. read more
