Aloha beer is a fun and casual restaurant and bar great for groups and casual dining. We actually had a work-based bridal shower for one of my coworkers here and it was pretty awesome. They have validated parking for four dollars. We spent our time at the beer Garden which is a nice open area where dogs are welcome. We ordered several items including pizza, chicken wings, french fries and beer. Nice selection of beer here. Great beer and food, horrible service. We were overcharged $40 on our bill. After realizing we were overcharged, I went back the next day and the manager printed an itemized receipt, revealing FIVE beers that were incorrectly added to the bill. The manager said he could refund the $40 but could do nothing about the tip (20% or $8 tip). The managers solution was offering us "a couple free beers next time". Instead, we suggested he take off my $9.50 beer to make it even, to which he said, "the owner doesn't allow him to comp things off the bill and next time we should double check the bill before paying". So much for customer service. Apparently tipping for their mistake is our responsibility. SAD! read more

Loved everything about this place. Valet parking was easy and cheap. Two big buildings with a great patio setup in between. Cool staff serving up house made beers and tacos on this Taco Tuesday. How can you refuse tacos when they are grilling them on an outdoor bbq right in front of you. We split a tapas flight (pictured) which had pickled veggies, walnuts, olives and pepperoncinis. I had their flight of IPA's which were quite good. To keep the multiple dish theme going, I had their taco sampler which had one each of barbacoa, chicken and beef street tacos. All excellent. Food and beer was meh. Came here with my friend, her dog, and my dog. There were tons of dogs running around and barking at each other. My dog growled at someone with a prosthetic leg once (he's never seen one) and they asked us to leave. His growl was so quiet, I didn't even hear him do it...the place is loud and outdoors. In addition, several other dogs had growled at that person's leg. I obviously corrected mine and apologized. I'm actually not someone who brings my dog places (it's weird). But the response was definitely odd, targeted at the only actual locals there, and I haven't been back. There's plenty of other beer places to support all over town. read more

The service was so unacceptable that my party didn't continue to wait for our food menu and left. We talked to the bartenders on the way in who told us open seating outside. I went to the restroom while the rest of my party went to find a seat. When I came out, my party hadnt receive menus. We waited while the servers served tables around us, looked over at us, made eye contact, and continued to ignore us so much that we thought we were missing a QR menu somewhere. We timed waiting from that point 15 minutes, others came in and were given menus, which was the tipping point for us. We then left hungry, unserved, and unsatisfied! Side note, they also had paid vallet parking. We were able to avoid it by finding street parking, but if we had used their parking lot, it would have been that much more of a slap in the face. Got there with our dogs at around 830. Hostess was so great to get our table ready while we went to park the car. She sat us right near the entrance. Was a lovely table with lots of space for the dogs to lay in the walkway, as well as us able to hear each other. Our app order of pulled pork nachos and waffle fries came so quickly! It was different to not have salsa for the nachos or ketchup for the fries. The nachos were on the creamy side (super huge scoop of sour cream and some other creamy sauce), had some stale chips, and topping ratio was off. But good enough to eat. The fries were a great app to share. We shared a half-half pizza (half sausage and half vege nice with added sausage). Took a long time (we were told they made a mistake so had to remake) but was good when we got it. Thin and tasty crust. We ordered our pups a chicken bowl (pricey for small portion) and a small bibim-pup. The pups loved it, even eating a raw egg for the first time. But the chicken had a taste and smell as if it were starting to go bad. Only thing I would recommend is to have bigger cups or come around to fill drinks more often. This review is for a week ago. I don't do Yelp, but for this purpose, I am. Jenna is an asset to anywhere and anyone she works with. I have been following her for the past 6-7 years. I always go wherever she is working. Her obnoxious laugh literally makes you smile. As if she really doesn't care who hears it. And she KNOWS beer! Wow does she know beer! I have been to Aloha Beer in the past and have received horrible service. Now I know where she is, I try to get over here at least once a week ALL the way from Mililani, and know I will not receive bad service. I got the pork Sliders combo this past week, absolutely delicious! Your kitchen staff is on to something. Had the Smoked pork nachos the time prior DELICIOUS! I love the Hikers Dream IPA. We can get all the beer and food we want on the ship for no extra charge but we love to sample LOCAL beer so we took a walk to Aloha. Great decision! Ordered two different sample flights. All the beers were good but we were really surprised by the Froot Lupes. I thought it would be my least favorite but found it to be really good. A bit dangerous as it doesn't taste strong at all but us 7.3% ABV. The Pulled Pork Nachos were really good. The staff here are GREAT. If we lived here we would be regulars. read more

Valet is $4 unless you can miraculously find street parking. There is often entertainment at night and it is dog friendly with a dog menu. I always get the pretzel. We were able to come here for a bar crawl stop and loved it. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor, and very pet friendly. We were only able to be there for 40 minuted due to our tour, which I feel they should know and take into consideration. Unfortunately we ordered food and it didn't come within 40 minutes which we were bummed about. Secondly we tried to order the samplers and were told they didn't have any left, in other words, not enough dishes. We instead had to order half pints of each beer to taste. With more time we would for sure go back and enjoy what appeared to be great food and the atmosphere. Just be aware if you are on a tour that you may not have enough time. My partner and I wanted to try this place since we heard that they were dog friendly, and even had a dog menu! I didn't realize how large this place was until I actually went inside. They have an inside eating area, outside eating area, brewing area, AND a merch store. It's unfortunate that we didn't get to try their beers, but their food tasted great! We ordered the chicharron, chorizo empanadas, and the fish and chips. We also ended up ordering the bibimpup and pupsicle for our doggo! First and foremost, the sauce the chicharron came with was very tasty. It went very well with the pork. The empanadas were also very good and fried to perfection. The amount of filling was a good portion to the pastry. Lastly, the fish and chips were also perfect. Normally, fish and chips come very oily, but these were not the case. The fries were crispy and soft, and the fish was surrounded with a crispy outing, but the fish was super flaky. Our pup also enjoyed his dishes as he demolished them in less than 5 minutes! I have been coming to Aloha Beer Co since they opened and I relized after my last visit I've never written a review. I have seen Aloha Beer grow and become one of the best brewing companies on Oahu. The location is perfect in Kakaako on Queen Street and in the same walking area of a bunch of other pretty good breweries so no need to drive. If you are driving, they do have lots of available parking up the ramp. No reservations but dogs welcome. Service is always awesome and helpful if you have questions about the beers or menu. Just ask if you want to sample a beer. My go to is the Fruit Loopes IPA, refreshing anddelicious. The atmosphere and vibe on the patio is really chill and service is always pretty quick. I've visited Aloha Beer a few times and it's always a pleasant experience. Street parking is available about a block away but bit of a walk to get to the restaurant. Valet is required to park in the parking structure above the restaurant, which is $4 NOT including gratuity (so ~$10 parking if you're tipping). Not the best. They have lots of seating available, some inside, some outdoors (covered so rain-safe!). The outdoor seating has cute lights and dogs are also allowed. They have a smaller menu, however, and their portion size is pretty small. Pretty good selection of beers of course, and several cocktails as well. They have restrooms available inside the restaurant, which is always a plus for me. I would say customer service is average -- not horrible but not excellent either. read more

I ordered a flight of beer and I wasn't too big a fan of any of the ones I got which was a bummer. However the Pulled Pork Nachos are amazing! I love the fact that they fry their chips so they have that deeper flavor and more solid foundation for the heavy toppings on top. The texture of the chips was perfect. The pork was excellent, cheese sauce great, guac and sour cream; you really can't ask for anything better when it comes to nachos. Looking for a place to chill with a brew and bite, Aloha beer in Kaka'ako is a great spot for a quick lunch bite on the bar top, hungry walking the pup they got that covered as well. Today was a lunch date with my bestie which we both needed a break from adulting and actually was looking forward to a Cider which they didn't have BOO! Well on to the menu we were more felt like grazing and went with Salt and Pepper Wings which was so crispy and simply flavored perfectly with all the messy sauce. Bacon Fondue Fries was nice large steak fries topped with Swiss, bacon and green onions it didn't wow me and just lacked something. Summer Salad omg that pickled strawberries and feta sold me instantly and it did not disappoint, the house made vinaigrette was so light and supported the salad beautifully topped with toasted walnuts and avocado we inhaled it! Service was the sore spot for me and a friend when we came to hang out for the live music on Friday (8/16). We ordered the Pork Nachos, which were passable, but definitely not worth the $24 price tag. But service-wise, we definitely viewed this as a failure. We told the host a party of 3, and without another word, he began walking back. Naturally we followed, being adults who didn't really need a prompt, but would have appreciated one like, I don't know, "Hey you can follow me,"?? We were sat on the patio (clean and lively) and given 1 menu. For 3 patrons. 1 menu. I thought I was being pranked. Server then walked up behind one of us, plopped 2 coasters on the table without a word, and walked away for about 5 minutes. He took our drink order and dropped waters off. Took our order shortly after, and dropped off our drinks from the bar. Did not see him until we asked for the check. Absolutely no recheck on refills, no check-ins of any kind, no clearing of the dirty dishes. It was likely 30 minutes before we were able to even get his attention. What ended up making me mad during the visit was the constant walking around that he would do. How do you not walk around and check on the tables simultaneously? Walking around and talking to other coworkers, really getting not much of anything done. Which I don't really care about, every job has downtime, but this was a packed Friday night. I'm just a visitor to Oahu, helping a friend move in and get ready for his first semester at University of Hawaii, so it was unlikely I'd go to the same place twice in my 10 days here. But on repeat visits to the island, I will definitely leave this off my reliable food spots (Hana Koa Brewing Co. saved our night, I would recommend this place MUCH more). We came in the other day and had an awesome experience. The vibe of the brewery was chill, staff was friendly, and the food and beer were tasty! We were stoked to try out their beers and ordered flights right off the bat. We had nearly every kind they had to offer, and there were a few standouts for us. (Aloha blonde was crisp and very easy to drink. Hop Lei IPA was full of flavors and easier to drink than other IPAs I've had before. Froot Lupes was heavier and fruity.) We ordered multiple flights, and worked up an appetite. We had the steak fries, the poke nachos, and a BBQ chicken pizza. All of the food was prepared well! Crispy fries, fresh ahi and toppings on the nachos, and the pizza was saucy and loaded with toppings. We closed out the night with the Aloha sangria (good quality rose that was balanced well with the peach liquor). We couldn't agree more that this is a great spot to come to with a group! The Hi -Bitchcus Ale & Aloha Hefeweizen were not the best beers I've had, but not bad I guess. I really disliked the Fruit Lupes & Black Pils. The Fruit Lupes was a little sweet with a strong after taste. The Black Pils tasted earthy. Like I was drinking strained soil. I guzzled them just to finish it quickly. The whole time there, I did not see one other person order the Black Pils. Lol Ok on to the food. I ordered the poke nachos with the chipotle Mayo on the side. They brought it to me with the poke & the chips separate, no mayo. That was disappointing but the poke was very good. The ahi was very soft, almost melting in my mouth. The chips were also very good. Very crispy & possibly homemade. My husband had the Queen St Supreme pizza. Lots of toppings. It's pizza, nothing special but it was good. Lastly, I had the antipasto salad. Had great flavor & like the pizza, they don't skimp on the toppings. I only wish that had better meat than pepperoni. The portion size was good if that's all you're eating. I've been going to Aloha Beer for a few years now without any major complaints. Their food is decent and the beer selection is good. However, I'm all about the experience of an establishment and although the food and drinks are fine, the service from the staff is under par. I've found that good service is a hit or miss with the Kakaako location (not sure how it is at the other locations). Certain servers seem to be there just for tips and have no personality when interacting with their tables while others are very friendly and seem genuine. Last time I was there, they kept having "glitches" in their system where drink orders were lost and bills were not charged correctly. Not sure if this happens often, but if it does, it's a major flaw to their establishment that they should sort out as soon as they can so that other customers don't have to experience that complication like we did. read more
