I found this bakery online for customed cakes in Aug 2024. They were able to make this beautifully decorated rum cake that tasted amazing! the texture and size for 25 ppl were perfect. En general muy flojo este lugar. Un tipo de cafeteria cubana donde venden cakes. Pueda que los cakes sean el fuerte y por aprovechar el espacio venden los otros productos pero la verdad muyyy flojos. Prove un poco de todo y la verdad es que no me encanto nada. Hay que decir que los precios si son muyyyy buenos, es muy barato todo, pero se refleja en los productos que venden. Came here because so far this place had a perfect score in the yelposphere. Right by Braddock Senior High I'm sure this place gets packed. I know if there was a bakery while I went to school there I would of been much fatter but also happier. Came here in the morning. It was empty. Walked in to find a beautifully decorated bakery. Even the outside looks fancy. Like a Cuban woman and a French man had a baby and that baby grew up to be a baker. The lady at the counter greeted me as soon as I came in even though she was taking care of another man there that was about to leave. I took a quick look and got my favorite: a croqueta (one guys, portion control) and a cangrejito which I thought was something else but we will get there. She rang me up super cheap like less than $2, she said gracias linda (yes call me pretty all day), so I tipped her and I was off. Got in my car and opened it up like a fatty. Croqueta was perfect. I like ham croquetas. I know everyone had other favorites but I'm simple and if you perfect that it's good. This one was good. I ate it fast. Then I went to open the cangrejito. I really thought it was a large ham stuffed pastry. It's big and the outside looks soft but it's not. It was essentially hard Cuban bread. I wanted to cry. So I just said f it and kept it in the bag, my son will eat it he loves bread. So I took the piece I broke off and tried it... and then just like that I couldn't stop eating it. .... I'm not going to say it's good because I don't like hard bread but it probably was amazing because I ate half and now my son has only half to eat. I literally stopped myself. So if you are in the area and want Cuban pastry's this is the place. I suggest it for sure. read more

Sweets - the words says it all. People love sweets. Children cry for them, fight for them, throw tantrums if you tell them no, or enough, or no more. As an adult, you don't have to ask mom and dad for sweets. You're free to devour as many as you can, as often as you can. So when things such as distance get in the way, what aren't adults willing to do to satisfy their cravings? - the answer is a simple not much! I found out about this little gem thanks to a friend. She told me to jump in her SUV and just that we were going somewhere to get some pastries. Imagine my surprise when I saw myself crossing county lines, merging onto the turnpike and heading to Kendall. Yeah, that's how far she's willing to go for sweets, but not just any sweets, not just any pastries, but the ones made at Almendrares. According to her (she's Cuban), the pastries they make here takes like home, like memories from her childhood, and she's seems willing to do anything for nostalgia. But is not just nostalgia, is the fact that this place is idyllic. When you walk in you're greeted and treated like family and not just if you're Cuban, I'm not Cuban and I felt the warmth. Suffice to say, the food is delicious. We sat down and devoured a couple of a pastries right there. We couldn't help ourselves. After the first bite you can't stop. Additionally, we ate two of their delicious croissant sandwiches before taking a a cake, two boxes, and a bag of pastries big enough to last for weeks home. I was very excited to buy a cake in this bakery, and the owners were rude; the baker's attitude was disgusting. I bought a cake for Father's Day, which was horrifying; it was not what I asked for; the cake was melting. I couldn't keep it on the table inside the house; the flavor was horrible and dry, the cake was falling before cutting, and when I called to ask why the cake was different and the macarons were, they said they bought them at Publix. The cake was dry, and when I called the bakery, the lady who answered the phone was rude, and then The baker began yelling in the background as he hand-painted the macarons and began cursing at me, so I decided to hang up the phone as I had a party to attend. I know, you think you know Cuban pastries because you live in Miami or whatever. Let me tell you, you know nothing! La perla de la pasteleria cubana era La Gran Via, and the flavors from Almendrares are straight from this magical place that had the craziest lines in Havana. Though be warned that eating their taqueños, tartaletas, cangrejitos or anything from there, might cause you spontaneously enact that Ratatouille scene where the critic cries because his taste buds transport him back to his childhood! read more

First Class Bakery, Passion for the Art of Baking Born in Havana, Cuba in 2014, now in Miami This is a small bakery that offers a variety of pastries that will tempt your palate over and over. Everything I ate was amazing. I had their ham croquette and a chicken empanada. The croquette was perfect and very tasty and the empanada was buttery, incredibly tasty and flaky.I also had their dry fruit chocolate cake, it was out of this world. Firmly believe in supporting small businesses, so this is no exception. Found out about them from a Herald article, so since I'm in West Kendall decided to check em out. The owner was very nice, and said that the article had helped them get new clients, but had also given their bakery in Havana some unwanted attention. It's easy to miss it since it says bakery and it's on a strip mall on 147 and Bird Road. Unfortunately they were out of my fave which is guava and cheese, but I ordered 2 spinach empanadas (it was quite good), 2 ham croquetas, some kind of sweet buttery pastry, and a maracuya mango mousse. I'm particularly excited for this, since we love both fruits in Peru. Wish them continuous success, and will go again. read more

My new Cuban café.. Came here after reading an article. The inside is very well done, nice modern look to the cuban cafe without going over board. The service is amazing, people actually ask you how they can help you and showed me a few new things to try. Even fryed a fresh pastry that I wanted. The prices are really good. I ordered 2 cakes for a combined birthday party. The texture of both cakes were moist and delicious.  The nata vanilla cake was like the original cakes from Cuba,  it was for my grandmothers 82nd birthday and she said it was like the ones she had decades ago but tastier! The other one was for my husband's 40th birthday,  it was a red velvet cake with a elegant detailed chocolate topper (made by hand) with a rustic color that was so creative! I also ordered militones, ham croquetas and pastelitos de queso and carne, but by the time I went to take a picture they were already eaten! As always,  EVERYTHING was perfect and I received many compliments. To top everything off, you can't forget the terrific customer service you receive from Joel and Vladimir; from the moment you call to place a order to when you pick up, they are just so nice, pleasant and attentive. Authentic Cuban pastries, desserts and savory things that feel authentic! We wanted to try the pastries here [try a Mirlinton!....yum!], they have your standards [pastelitos, torrejas, croquetas and the like] but they also have Cuban cakes [Bonbon, Cake de Nata, Capuchino]. This place is worth the drive, for us is a couple of blocks away. The owner are EXTREMELY friendly and help you learn about the art of baking.
