OMG! The food here is soooo bomb. We tried the pork chops, the turkey chops, dressing, Mac and cheese, yams, potato salad, and the lemon cake. Not one complaint here. I only wish they had a location somewhere on the Westside, so I could go more often

Mrs Alma, you did it for me, momma. I'm from the south atlanta, to be exact, my parents from Tennessee deeply rooted, but babyyyyyyy let me tell you, you took me back home with this one. Everything I ordered was too perfect, even the stove top homemade banana pudding. My mother normally made hers in the oven, but that stove top is hitting. Your ambiance is beautiful and welcoming. Everyone was friendly, especially the young man at the front counter, and the young lady. Continue striving for excellence and serving the community. Great Establishment for sure! My order: Fried chicken wing entree With macaroni and cheese,potato salad,greens,and dressing, I also got the banana pudding with a classic cherry Kool-Aid. Thank you, Tasha

Didn't care for it. The food is bland. The Mac was cheese less. The cabbage was almost clear and not for me. The wings were missing a piece, the cornbread tasted like it was once frozen and reheated and honestly this whole dinner at this quick serve restaurant ("QSR") was just not worth it. The attitude of the owners daughter was terrible. No personality. My companion ordered peach cobbler which is served cold. He requested it to be warmed. They refused. He wanted it warmed in a non plastic container. This peach cobbler was $9. She offered to heat it up but charge $1 for the box. Hahahahah! We just paid $60+ for lackluster food and are insulted by a $1 extra to warm up the dessert. He returned it. She sent it back in a bag by her cashier who said nothing when she put it on the table next to us. He asked her to please take it and refund it. The owners daughter refused. He politely advised that by law she had to refund it. She finally did. I would NEVER return here again. NEVER. UPDATE: To the owner: You did come out front to rearrange the desserts and we did interact and you were unpleasant. No smile. No hello. You should stay in the kitchen. We should have left but his order was already placed. I prefer to patronize businesses represented by owners who have grace and are happy to have customers. We were highly excited to try your place. We regret adding any revenue to your business. It's an experience we are happy to forget. Based upon your disgraceful response, you confirmed every word in my review and how awful your attitude is towards people keep your business afloat.

The place itself was very well-maintained, clean, well decorated, and inviting. A group of us went there and ordered their lunch specials, which we found to be a bit pricey considering the portion size. We ordered the chicken wing lunch special, and was very disappointed when we were not given the whole wing...the drumsticks part of the wing was cut off of every piece...maybe because it was the lunch special? The service was okay...a lot of yelling going on when calling orders out to the kitchen. What I thought was a bit much was when some lady came out of the kitchen to yell at a customer to close the front door, because she doesn't feel like chasing flies! While understandable, there could have been a better way for her to ask the customer to close the door. Lastly, they made it very clear to clean up after yourself, as there was no table service available. Updated review: Based on the owner's response, she's correct! We should've gone across the parking lot to patronize Popeyes. Seeing that the pork chops were half cooked, the cornbread was dry and crumbly, and the Mac and cheese bland. I'd gladly pay for a big box at Popeyes then eat here again!

Super cute place. The decor is cozy. Dine in only available until lunchtime and they close at 5pm which is painful. Food was over all good. The fried catfish HELLA GOOD. Wasn't a fan of the side dishes but that spoon fruit lemonade was delicious. Service was great, staff friendly and food received in a timely manner. I will definitely revisit if I'm working too late.

I was in the area and had Alma's bookmarked on places to try. I'm glad I stopped by. Upon entry the decor was so modern and welcoming. It was very clean and the ventilation system was doing a great job I didn't smell anything frying. I got the catfish mac n cheese greens and corn bread muffin. Everything was full of flavor, seasoned and cooked just right. The customer service was even better. I totally loved my Alma's Place experience.

I wanted to love this place. $43 for oxtails at "market price " is obtuse. The three sides, macaroni & cheese (bland), yams (tasted like canned) and greens (full of stems), could have earned another star. In fairness, the portions were decent. I had enough for the next day. The flavor didn't really come through.

This soul food place had me reminiscing of the days when I worked in the south. The macaroni and cheese was off the hook! It was so freakin' good. The collards were pretty decent. The catfish was perfect in every way: texture, freshness, well-seasoned breading. The homemade sweet potato pie was delicious as well. When I need to have some good fried fish and macaroni and cheese, this is definitely my "go to" spot. read more

My FIRST review ever. The culinary offerings were indeed delightful, and the customer service was exceptional. I'd like to acknowledge Brandon for his friendly demeanor, and though I didn't catch the name of the young lady, her hospitality was noteworthy. Supporting locally-owned establishments is a personal preference, and encounters with affable individuals like Brandon and the young lady, significantly contribute to a restaurant's success. Recognizing that the synergy between excellent food and outstanding service is crucial, it's evident that the success of a dining establishment extends beyond the culinary domain. Having been a resident of the Compton/Lynwood area for an extended period, my initiation into genuine soul food was truly eye-opening. The smothered chicken wings, fried chicken, and fried catfish exceeded expectations, next time I'm trying the pork chops and desserts! read more

The food should always come first at a restaurant...and here, it does! But... There's much, much more. First, the food: I had the $15 lunch special of catfish, 2 sides and a soda. Although there were several other choices - that I look forward to trying out soon - it will be hard not to order this again. The cornmeal crust on the generous 3 strips of catfish couldn't have been anything but homemade. First rate. Of the numerous sides, I chose red beans and rice and macaroni and cheese. On theme, these were also homemade and absolute perfection. As a lagniappe, it also came with homemade cornbread served as a muffin. Scrumptious. Is the 'homemade' resonating yet? But, we're not done. They had a panoply of desserts, of which I chose the homemade carrot cake. I am positive that it's impossible that the other desserts would be anything but excellent, but how can I NOT order the best carrot cake I've ever had the next time I come in? Now...the ambiance. Alma clearly took pride in presenting this small space in a dingy strip mall as reflective of the pride she takes in her food. Bead board, white trim, exquisite pillows and CLEAN. But, the food and setting aren't the best parts. The best part is Alma. When I was there, she came out to actually dine. Because the space is small, it's like being in a chic Santa Monica club with several of your best friends. They argued politics, culture and affairs of the day. Anybody was - and FELT - invited to join in. Frankly, after enjoying the food, I was too intimidated to converse. It was like sitting with a celebrity. They even told me that they wanted to inculcate a "barbershop" vibe. They absolutely succeeded. I hate writing this review because it may mean that Alma's will get too crowded. Dammit, though...she deserves it! read more

Be aware that even though says they close at 530 after 430 you cant order anything smothered The excuse was that they can only fry and grill after 430they can't make gravy. Was looking forward to supporting black business but I refuse to pay 20 bucks for a dinner that isn't what I want. Update! I find it very umprofessional that the cashier at this establishment found the review funny instead of someone reaching out to try and get better understanding of the situation. Black businesses have to do better. read more

Love this place! How do you turn around a man who is not happy to find out you're out of catfish? You serve him the best pork chop, black eyed peas and greens he's had since he can't remember when! That's how. Friendly service and real deal southern cooking. You need to get here. read more

Wow what can I say about this place. I tried the turkey with the potato salad and Mac and cheese. The turkey was fresh and had a great taste. The potato salad was yummy. The Mac and cheese was excellent. I also enjoyed the banana pudding. I will return soon and often. read more

place and food smelt good couldn't wait to try it.. the individual that was at the cashier was polite and nice but I drove 30 minutes to eat here and got here at 35 minutes before closing and was told at first that I had 3 min to order because food was being put away and then was told they put all their food away and can't be served. read more

So as of right now before I get my food I'd like to touch on something that irritated me about this place. First they said rice and gravy isn't a side. So I guess I can get soul food with just plain rice. I've never seen that. I mean they make gravy here so how hard is it to put gravy on my rice. If you want to charge $1 more ok but to say I can't get it as a side is weird. Secondly, if I have to wait for my food for 20+ minutes why would I want my soda? Since it will no longer be cold once my food is ready. I ask can I just get my full order all together and was told NO!!! I can see if they were busy but it isn't no one else in sight. Truly don't think I'll be patronizing again. Very big on better customer service. Plus walking in all I could smell was old burned grease. However the deserts do look very good. read more

We were looking for a place to eat since we would be in the area. Saw this place on yelp and the food looked amazing plus the ratings were high. Now that my meal is over I completely understand why they are rated so well. DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! I had the turkey chops with yams and green beans and my fiancé had the catfish with greens and macaroni & cheese. The food is fresh and hot made to order. The flavor is on point. The portions are huge (we needed to go boxes. Guess what's for lunch tomorrow lol). We also ordered some deserts to go. Brandon and Alma were super personable. In the time we got to speak with Alma we could tell she is very passionate about what she does and she's also passionate about where she's from. We will be sure to come back!! read more

I was in the neighborhood and checked Yelp for a place for some good food. Yelp did not disappoint. I arrived and Corina was super friendly and gave me her recommendations. I had the catfish lunch which was a great portion for a great price. Delicious fresh and crispy, with a side of smooth and soothing macaroni and cheese. It also came with a tasty cornbread muffin and a pat of butter. They also had some tasty orange and cranberry spa water complimentary to drink. ...and to top it off I had a slice of Corina's homemade circus animal cookie cheesecake. Creamy and delicious. I want you all to go there because I want this business to last a long time. For a selfish reason, I want to eat here forever. read more

This place was AMAZING ! Hands down some of the best soul food ! The customer service alone was 5 stars and so was the food which was made hot and crispy. I ordered the catfish lunch with fries abs red beans and rice and added a side of string beans. Everything had so much flavor ! The fries were so delicious they had a special batter on them ! I also added a side of the lemon cake and OMG the best lemon cake ever! It was moist and tart but not to much the perfect amount of sweetness ! Love this place drove an hour just to try it and it was truly worth the drive ! I will be back !!! read more

So i finally made it to Almas after seeing it on Black Ink Crew Compton.I made sure I was there about 15 minutes after opening. When we walked in the place seemed nice and qauint and clean which is a plus. However very small and there was no place for us sit because there was a group of about 10-12 people there having a private function..Needless to say i was already there so i decided to order the shrimp n grits to go. My friend attempted to order 4 different things which none of them were available so he opted to try desert. My order was taking a while so i told him to leave. I WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED..I even left and came back and order still was not ready..My order literally took over an hour no exaggeration!! I get there was a large party..However u knew that before opening. Instead of having people wait why not open later or hire more help for the day?? Unacceptable..Noone even offer me a glass of water. I hate writing this review because everyone seems so nice there...However for this being my 1st time I must say what a huge let down this was for me. ANNNDDD the food was just ok nothing speacial and definitely not worth the hour I waited to get it. I make it a point to patronize small family business so yeah Im truly disappointed !! Not sure ill go back but I hope that in the future you and your staff handle this differently. read more

Great catfish. hefty serving for lunch. green beans were boiled, a tad overcooked, but still good. Salmon croquettes were great too. Cornbread was a little too dry for my taste, but the flavor was there. Food was 3.5 stars, but the service was great, so I bumped them up to a 4. Will be back for sure. read more

I'm literally angry at how bomb that peach cobbler is. The crust, the juice, the peaches. I'm about to gain lbs messing with that. Hands down THE BEST PEACH COBBLER i have ever had. Pork chops and Mac n cheese on point. I just tried something new and this is about to be my spot. I'm telling you. You must try it. I will be a regular when I'm in the area. I might even travel a few miles to get there when i hear that cobbler calling my name. The owner is a really nice lady. Very helpful. Idk. Food service was great. Ordered fried turkey chop, greens, and yams. $15. One of the best turkey chops I've had and very flavorful. Did not care for the sides. Greens needed more seasoning and yams were not sweet at all. But would definitely go back for the turkey chop. The ambiance is cute. It is a very clean restaurant. read more

Well I'll start by saying that I LOVE Brandon he is the best at customer service my first encounter was very pleasant I grabbed fried chicken for work everybody loved it , it's non greasy and seasoned just right . I went two days after because I needed to try some more and I'm now hooked they give big portions good enough for dinner and leftovers for lunch and I'm a big girl so I love to eat LoL Once again thank you Brandon for making my experiences that much better read more

Smothered turkey chops are my go to here and they never disappoint! Huge portions with lots of flavor & generous amount of sides. Mac and cheese is delicious as well as the fresh cut fries. Partner got breakfast sandwich & pancake breakfast and it was amazing! And of course couldn't leave without at least one of the many delicious desserts. 6 later German chocolate buttercream cake was out of this world amazing my usual favorite is the red velvet cheesecake but this new one is a very close second. Partner finished off with a lemon jello cake & peach cobbler lemonade ( his personal fave & go to). You really can't go wrong with any of the food drinks & desserts here. Some of the nicest service too. You just know you're supporting a good local business. Worth driving out of your way if need be!! Just DO NOT leave without grabbing a dessert! read more

I tried to give them a second chance with a simple breakfast. I asked for grits, runny eggs, bacon and wheat toast. My husband who ordered second had the pumpkin breakfast which is the same but it included salmon croquettes. He received his first and i received mines 4 minutes later without the grits that i ordered and stiff eggs (not runny like i emphasized that I wanted) i repeat i recieved stiff eggs, no grits, wheat toast 4 minutes later. How is that possible. It was only one other couple in there and we had ordered way before them. I had the fried chicken the first time I visited and it had no seasoning but I tried to give it another chance it won't be another. Maybe somebody else have luck. read more

Let me just say don't go when they first open up. If you open up your establishment at 11am then your workers should be there at least 30mins before doors open to prep. I got there and ordered a breakfast sandwich around 11:15 and they hadn't even turned the grill on. I left to go order my child some Popeyes came back 15mins later and my food wasn't if started yet. They need to get it together and prioritize better. read more

I'm always looking for nearby soul food. Little did I know there was a place less than 5 minutes from my house. I had pork chops with grits, over easy eggs, and a biscuit. My son had chicken and waffles. Everything was seasoned well. The wait time was as expected. There is a $1.50 fee if you pay with your card (so try to bring cash). I really only took away a star because my eggs didnt seem freshly prepared...and they were fried hard not over easy. I will be returning to try the dinner options, since they're so close. read more

Finally, I see a German chocolate cake with the right color (reddish brown, not Suzy Q brown). I am so pleased that someone knows what they are doing. I just wish It had a few pecans in the frosting. Maybe it did. Too tired after the Bill Pickett Rodeo to eat the entire piece. I'm glad you were there. Delicious! read more

I loved this place! We were just passing by this city so we aren't here often but I'm glad we stopped, the staff was so beyond welcoming and friendly and the food was top tier. Been in Cali for almost 3 years looking for a good soul food restaurant.. Then while watching black inc they ate here so we decided to go.. OMG.. it was delish to the 5th power!! Upon arriving the Owner daughter came out and gave me a hug and welcomed us in.. I instantly felt like I was entering Big Mamas house.. the young man behind the counter was a sweetheart!!! My hubby ordered smothered chicken wings with Greens , white rice and sweet potato's yep it was good!! I had fried cat fish, salmon coquettes, shrimp and grits and cornbread.. plus to wash it all down with a big cup of KOOL AID!!! We was in heaven!!! The food here is amazing..., I have nooo idea what "Angel K" is talking about...it is true everyone's taste buds are different and I am VERY particular on what I eat...I don't even normally eat catfish but the fish at Alma's is bomb. Its cooked perfect...you don't even have to ask for it to be well done because the already know. And don't even let me get started on the desserts....So kudos to this family owned business keep up the good work. And sorry sweetheart this is a REAL review....I mean who has the time and energy to post over 300 fake reviews...are you kidding me?!?! And I seriously doubt if they have time since they're never empty .... Loook ok I love everything about Alma's cookies and company. I have recommended this restaurant to so many ppl just on the fact alone that their CUSTOMER SERVICE is amazing. Corinaaaa also makes some of the best desserts I've ever had (banana pudding, peach cobbler, cheesecake ) I have had them cater 2-3 events for me and The food is always delicious and they always get My orders correct and work with me! read more

Food was delicious! I ordered the catfish meal with 3 sides and they give you your money's worth. For dessert I ordered the chocolate cake and I am pleasantly stuffed. The young man taking my order was very nice he said it would be 15 min, I stepped outside and when I came back he was bagging my food...great customer service. Will definitely be back! read more

Came for the Turkey chops, but they ran out. Settled for 3 wings which were perfectly fried goodness. Chicken was perfectly seasoned.. 2 sides were mac n cheese and greens and they were both bomb. The other half had the catfish with yams and greens. He said it was all good. Serving was perfect size for filling your belly and having some left for midnight snack. Staff was friendly. Meet the Business Owner: Corina M.

Corina (CookiegalC) Pleasant is a chef and Baker who learned from her grandmother, aunt, and mother. She also attended culinary school to further her education in food service, and has a dedication to her customers that is unmatchable. She has catered for over 20 years, and finally has established a home for she and her mother Alma's first restaurant in the great city of Compton, with southern hospitality at the forefront. Alma, our namesake began cooking at an early age and put into effect southern techniques she learned from her mother Annie and older sister Betty Jean who both were awesome cooks from Arkansas. Alma in turn shared what she learned with her 2 daughters, Yvonda and Corina. The baby girl watched her mom prepare food and desserts and was always intrigued as a very small child by what was done in the kitchen. From there grew a fascination that has grown into a career. Come and get some of our southern hospitality!

My last trip was kind of spontaneous because I suddenly got a Fivestars reward that day for these waffle bites. However, when I arrived, I was looking for the Fivestars tablet only to be met by a Clover tablet instead. It felt like I went through a time warp because the employee working behind the register didn't seem to have any idea what I was trying to say regarding Fivestars, though he did notice a little trifold card on the front counter mentioning Fivestars. I asked if he could get his manager so I could explain, and even show, him my Fivestars reward. The reward said "already accepted", which he almost thought meant I had redeemed it already, but if that were the case, then it would have said "already redeemed". Given that they've now done away with Fivestars, I'm not too surprised he may have gotten the words "accepted" confused with "redeemed", but luckily, he was happy enough to honor it for me. The employee who assisted me was very helpful, though he did ask me to repeat the topping and the drizzle that I wanted. I chose the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor ice cream with Fruity Pebbles toppings and a Strawberry drizzle on top. Since I had already tried the cookie flavors before, I figured I'd try the fruity flavors this time around. He said he needed about 5 minutes to prepare my waffle bites, which were presented a little different than last time. Last time, I got the Cookie Butter flavor with *Cookie* Crisp and Peanut *Butter* (see what I did there?), and it came in a small plastic takeout container. This one came in a large plastic cup, and I'm thinking the logistics may have changed a ton between my last two visits. I did appreciate how the employee asked if I wanted the waffles on top of or beneath the ice cream before making the waffle bites; I chose on top. He also asked if I'd like powdered sugar on top, to which I agreed. Unfortunately, neither of the waffle bites I got from my last two visits impressed me that much. As a matter of fact, the only thing that impressed me was the strawberry drizzle. Everything else fell kind of flat. While generous in size for the $8 price tag, the Cookie Butter and the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream didn't really taste like these flavors at all! For whatever reason, the peanut butter didn't add much flavor, but the strawberry drizzle added a lot! How even?! In short, the waffle bites weren't that much of an upgrade from the ice cream scoop that I had on my first visit. I'm willing to say "too much good was no good" here. The waffles themselves were good, but they can only do so much when a flavored ice cream doesn't even taste like that flavor. It's worth noting that on my penultimate visit, when I got the Cookie Butter Waffle Bites, I saw two employees behind the front counter who were ready to take my order. I asked them to explain what the waffle bites were, but it took them a couple of tries to actually understand what I was asking. From what I gathered, the waffle bites were similar to the ice cream scoop I had on my first visit, but with the addition of a warm waffle to supplement the ice cream. However, the step-by-step process remains the same. I was initially told it would take 6 minutes to prepare the Cookie Butter Waffle Bites, but it actually took 15! It seemed like one was training the other or they were trying to gather the ingredients and/or the steps needed to create the waffle bites. After about 10 minutes, I was told by one of the employees they had to make a new batch of waffles because the first batch had burnt. The music was getting pretty loud, so it was hard to hear him after that, but I didn't want to hold up the kitchen prep process any longer. I just said "Alright, sure" so he could continue preparing my order. I do appreciate how he let me know of this so that I'd know the reason for the extended wait, but I wish they weren't so ill-prepared during my visit. So overall, still 3 stars overall. I appreciate the prior partnership with Fivestars, but these missed opportunities have led me to believe that Cravings is just not for me. I doubt I'll try anything else on their ice cream menu, and considering that there are only a few parking spots in their lot, it will take a lot to get me to try their hot chicken. And speaking of lack of parking, I also want to mention that on my second visit, I saw two open parking stalls right in front of Cravings, one on either side of a car. That car had its driver's side wide open so that I couldn't park there. I had to park on the passenger side of that car, which he left much less room for. Perhaps a microcosm of the clientele in this part of town? Everybody deserves a second chance, right? Unfortunately, not everybody can make the most of them, and this is just one example of such. Thanks for the sweet treats Cravings, but I'll get my next one somewhere else.

So where do I begin??? Its not often that you find a gem of a restaurant that not only exceeds your expectations with its food and menu offerings, but has an amazing ambiance and friendly staff. Although this is my first review of Alma's, I dined on the at the Grand Opening and several other times. Each and every visit, the food has always exceeded my expectations. So far I've tried the Fried Catfish, Oxtails, Pan Seared Catfish, and Fried Chicken. The side dish offerings include expertly prepared options including Candied Yams, Black Eyed Peas, Green Beans, Mac and Cheese, and Cornbread Dressing. The dessert menu is to die for!!! Too many to name. This family owned and operated eatery in the City of Compton is situated across the street from the Compton Courthouse, City Hall, and Sheriffs Station on the corner of Acacia and Compton Blvds. It shares a parking lot with Popeye's Chicken in a strip mall. Parking is tight sometimes depending on the time of day. The eclectic decor and immaculate dining room feels very homie. Alma's also has a full catering menu and can easily feed large crowds of 300-500 guests for events. Free beverages and water are a available with a Yelp check in. Food has no flavor, no seasoning. Customer service sucks, don't try to order your food over the phone because they don't allow it. Which means you have to drive there and wait in the roach infested restaurant forever until your food is ready. Not to mention that half the food on the menu is not even available. Everyone loves "Not your mamma kitchen" which is a few blocks down Compton Blvd. I figured I give Almas a try, but never again will I walk into Almas. Don't waste your money. Go to Not your mammas kitchen. Waaaayyy better!!!! PS. If your unhappy with this disgusting Fabuloso smelling place, don't write a review. The disgusting looking owner of this place will reply to every negative review with the same attitude that is given when you visit this nasty place. Great customer service, not to intrusive, just good at making the customers feel appreciated. The food was yummy, the dessert are amazing, I have a big sweet tooth, so my favorite is the strawberry short cake! Chicken, crunchy yummy, salmon to salty, yet still edible, :) Yams yummy, greens yummy, Mac & Cheese , yummy! I hope this restaurant continue to thrive, and keep being amazing! The food was amazing, I had the fried catfish with French fries, a side of macaroni and cheese and the fried Turkey chops because I couldn't decide. Everything was cooked to perfection, the seasoning is so flavorable, I suggested the bottle and sell it as an item on their menu, especially the catfish seasoning. The only negative is they need to print more menus, they had only one to review and order from so we had to wait and pass it around, this is tacky. However, the atmosphere is pleasant, the staff friendly and warm. I will definitely be back to try the oxtails. read more

Great food, period. This is a Compton staple, and it is right across from the courthouse. I have tried the breakfast sandwich, chicken and waffles, fried chicken plate, greens, green beans, mac, cheese cake, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie AND cheesecake, and it is all bomb. I hope to try everything on the menu because it never disappoints. Alma is lovely, and so is her staff. This is comfort food at it's finest. I took my uncle here for lunch to support local businesses and needless to say that, this is the BEST EATERY IN THE CPT!!!!! !!! The establishment was super clean, the staff are polite and professional to a tee!!! Everything just felt like home!!!! Oh my Mrs. Alma the food I order today the smoother pork chops with greens, yam and Mac n cheese was bomb.com! Everything was delicious. I'm bad with names but the young gentleman that took care of me your a doll service was A1. We just happened to be in Compton for a few hours and I came across this restaurant. When I tell you the food here blessed my soul. We had the fried catfish Mac and cheese, fried pork chop, fried chicken wings, hand cut fries and yams. Everything was so flavorful and cooked fresh to order. If your looking for some good down home cooking from the soul that's where you need to be. I'll definitely be going back there. Loved it! read more

OMG!!!! I ordered food from here using Uber eats and I was just so amazed! I've never had soul food from a restaurant THIS GOOD!! I moved away from my grandmas house years ago and I haven't had anything that reminded me of home. Until I ate this food! I ordered catfish with yams and corn & banana pudding. Today was my very first time eating from Alma's and it was great. My food was. DELISH. They also have great customer service. I witnessed an elderly woman come in and return her fried turkey chops because she wanted grilled turkey chops. They politely asked her to specify grilled next time and they would be happy to prepare them for her if did not mind waiting. She did and they did. read more

Okay I've been wanting to try this place because my mother just lovesss her salmon croquettes. I was disappointed when they didn't have fried shrimp but they recommended the fried catfish and let me tell you...BOMBBB! Hospitality was amazing and it was their 2 year anniversary. I had Alma's chicken and waffles for breakfast ($7.99). It was amazing! The chicken was flavorful with the right amount of crunch and the waffles were Delicious! You will not need to add syrup. I have had the chicken sausage croissant breakfast sandwich too. It is fabulous and you can't beat the $5.00 price. Love this place! read more

First time going to this place. Food and desserts were excellent. It was a soul food restaurant. I got the smothered turkey chops, rice and greens. They had this drink called peach cobbler tea that was excellent. The fried chicken looked great. Will have to go back for that. I had a slice of coconut, pecan cake, great. read more
