Soon after arriving and meeting Kyryl (one of our dance instructors) we notice the vibe is off. He is rude and slurring his words. We continue on with the tour and meet Andre (our second instructor) who was perfectly polite and professional. After some discussion regarding our upcoming event and layout, we start the class. Both my wife and I could smell alcohol on Kyryl's breath. He continued to be rude. Kyryl was partnered with my wife and I was with Andre. A few minutes into the actual class I see Kyryl slap my wife's butt - hard. I was in shock and could not believe this was happening. I asked to dance with my wife because I didn't want Kyryl touching her or close to her anymore. We maintain some semblance of calm and don't address the inappropriateness head on - my wife and I were both in shock. Just a few minutes later Kyryl slaps me the same way. At that moment, my wife exclaims: "that is not okay, consent matters, please stop." To be clear, we wanted to choreograph a dance to a ballad - there was no explicit moves requested. We left shortly thereafter. Although Andre didn't do anything inappropriate, he stood by and watched as his colleague violated us. This is not okay; it's harassment and completely outside of respectful, professional, legal behavior.

My daughter really likes ballet and hasn't complained so I am torn to write this review but I don't think we will be coming back here. This is our third dance studio experience due to moving. The reasons for my review are this: First- the front desk lady is pretty rude... all the time. I don't think she is happy to be there. I think she manages it. Second- you cannot see or watch your child. You cannot watch them practice. I personally want to have eyes on her and watch her practice and she wants me to watch as well, it's exciting. This may be great for older children and adults to avoid distraction but I don't find it convenient for young kids. Third- mask mandate has been discontinued for some time and they enforce it. They enforce the kids and anyone in the lobby to wear one. Instead of asking nicely, it's more of a snarl "you need a mask to be in here, ugh!" Topped off with a glare and eye roll. Fourth- The lobby is small and I have always had to stand up waiting for her to be finished so I end up just sitting in my car.... not like I can watch her anyway. Fifth- the parking lot is extremely small it's very annoying. You will more than likely park on the main road. Not reason to stop coming here, but it's quite frustrating. Sixth- instead of telling me or teaching me how they want her hair to be done they scolded me in front of the entire lobby about how she needs to re do my daughters hair because the bun I had it in won't hold.... don't let your child come in with one of those donut bun thingies. I spent all that time putting her hair into a perfect freaking bun... how am I supposed to know if you don't tell me? Needless to say she was very annoyed. Maybe this is all routine for ballet but I have found it to be somewhat a toxic atmosphere so why would I want to come back? It isn't inviting at all. All of the teachers have been great with professional demeanor, smiles and always kind. Maybe they want to be super professional and this is why it's like this. I'm sure they'll come back and say "ballerinas need to be prim and proper and without distraction." So if that's what you're looking for then this may be the place for you. Be ready to park on the main road and have no where to sit. I just want to bring my little kiddo to a fun place to start learning technique. None of the other places have been like this. It's weird to see such a lack of friendly customer service. We will find a new ballet studio or a new activity.

I took the beginner contemporary class honestly not knowing 100% what I was getting into…read more The class starts out with stretching/warm up and progressed into kind of three sections of movement patterns. Leveling up from the floor to standing and a combination of all movements. My body was definitely surprised by the different muscles being worked with the movement. The 75 minutes went by fairly quick. Michaela does a wonderful job leading the class and moves throughout the space to demonstrate the movement/sequences. The other students in class are also very nice and appears to be a mix of recurring students and newcomers (it was also a new first of a series class day).

I've attended some dance/fitness classes before at other studios, and actually this same one before it was taken over by Prowess, and I am truly impressed. The community here is what is a standout! Everyone is so encouraging, and the girl power is real. I grew up doing competitive gymnastics, and I've always looked for something that has scratched that itch, and lyra was that to a tee! Inga is a spectacular instructor, and caters to everyone's level, while keeping things just the right level of challenging. She implements great conditioning exercises at the start of classes to get everyone warmed up enough to do any inversions. There were mats in case anyone wasn't ready to do anything on regular floor, and with a max class size of 6 and 3 hoops, everyone got lots of time on the apparatus. The entrance has the main pole room which is nice and spacious. They also have another room for aerial classes and it also has some poles in there. They also have 2 restrooms. It is such a nice pole studio with the warmest welcome from not just instructors but the people there! You are surrounded by all kinds of amazing people at all levels who are so encouraging and that just keeps you motivated to keep coming back. I love all of the instructors who make it such a safe space to learn and grow with no judgment. I have never experienced a dance class that was filled with such loving energy before and people who help you tap into your most authentic and feminine self. There's something so addicting about this place where you can let go and express yourself fully. It's cool that the instructors offer you grip and even their heels to try. They also have multiple tripods so you can record your progress and choreo. People are genuinely so kind in the pole community. I love that they have different packages that are so worth it! A lot of dance studios just do drop-in classes which can really add up, but their beginners package is a bang for your buck, considering you can do multiple classes a day every day. I immediately bought it and try to go almost every day I'm off work. Thank you Prowess Pole for this new experience in my life. The staff helped us set up, did all balloons, ran the event (hosted games and supervised, ordered and passed out pizzas etc), and cleaned up.
