We decided to come back and try again and were pleasantly surprised we had a better experience. Becky was our server and she was nothing but kind and genuine. If you go, ask to sit in her section! Our apps were great, the arancini was a special and I'm glad we tried. They were cheesy and the sauce on the plate paired well. The pizza was good with the garlic on it. Gave it more depth. The pork chop was cooked well and the pasta had great flavor. I had the lavender lemonade and it was a great mocktail for the night! Im glad we were able to try them again and have a better experience!

Ok, we've had a few new Italian places open lately but this one hit it out of park. Came tonight, fyi, valet parking, but sure there's free somewhere. So cold, don't care. Greeted right when we got in, decent ambiance. Kind of weird entry but seated with our reservation. Haven't been to Rookwood in forever so can't remember exactly what it looked like but bet it has great views with light out I would assume. Our server was Hannah who was super sweet and made sure to come back to tell Us they did get in gorgonzola olives for our martinis Order bread service and like other reviews, get it!! Also, asparagus salads, and a Caesar. The asparagus salad is one of the best salads I've ever had, hands down. Add a protein and I'm good to go. Also ordered the pancetta. Super good but other things outshined. (Asparagus salad) We had rigatoni, linguine genovesse, and the pistachio dish, forget the name. Perfectly cooked pasta and flavor. So hard to get al dente correct but they did. The Genovese was surprisingly my fav. So much flavor. Who thought shaved ribeye would be good in pasta? Food excellent, ambience a solid 4. I could nit pick things but overall, worth it. Can't wait to go back!

Early seating since it seemed they're really booked up on weekends. Let you know at the start, it's pricey! It's in the old Rookwood Pottery building. We were seated near the old giant kilns. (You can get a table in the kilns for a larger party) As for ambiance, nothing dazzling. There is a patio that is probably used in warmer weather. But no great views from the restaurant. Nice view of downtown Cincinnati from the parking lot! "Bread service" is their "1,000 yr old starter" 8 pieces of very tasty bread, for $17. Yeh. For bread. Wine, $17 a glass. Really good, but $17-$20 a glass. We split a Caesar salad. The dressing was not quite as creamy as I'm accustomed to, but still had good flavor. The croutons were way too crunchy. Yeh, I know, some folks like them crunchy. But these were VERY crunchy, to the point you couldn't stick them with a fork. And I was seriously concerned about cracking a filling while eating them. Suggestion to Al Lupo, if the waitress suggests splitting a salad, and the customer says they'll take a salad and split it, the restaurant could put it in two plates instead of the customer doing it at the table. Just a suggestion. My wife ordered the lasagna and I ordered the Garganelli Bolognese. Nice size portions. Unfortunately, both dishes seemed bland. Now, I'm not saying they weren't spicy , no, these dishes usually aren't. But it just seemed there was very little flavor to them, almost like the chef forgot the oregano or something. Hate to say it but I've had better. We didn't get dessert so we can't speak for that. We did order coffee. An Americano. Literally scalding hot, but once it cooled down it was really flavorful. Wait staff was good. Our waitress was training someone, so was shadowed. She was good, had decent knowledge of the menu. However, for the prices paid, I cannot say this is a "go to" spot. Sorry folks.

This restaurant is going to be a top dining destination in Cincinnati. Created in the former Rookwood Pottery space, the interior design is incredibly unique and full of history. The food is authentically Italian, and has gourmet touches from the skilled team of chefs. They also have an extensive wine amd cocktail menu. You can get pastas, apps, Neapolitan-style pizzas, and hearty entrées. This is a great spot for a date night or celebratory dinner.

Top-notch Italian food is the highlight at Al'Lupo, and the sweeping views of downtown Cincinnati from its Mt. Adams location make it all the more enjoyable. It is located in the old Rookwood pottery building - which gives this restaurant a lot of history! There is a dedicated parking lot and also street parking available. We ordered the bread service- I was curious if the price was worth it. And YES- it was. The bread was phenomenal as well as the premium olive oil and butter that was served along side. They have an extensive wine list as well as a full service bar. We had the Caesar salad- which was served with a Parmesan cracker- the dressing was super flavorful, creamy and just the right amount of salty to make it taste delicious. For the main course we ordered the garganelli bolognese and the bucatini carbonara. Portion sizes were generous. The homemade pasta was yummy. The carbonara sauce was balanced and creamy while the bolognese sauce had a delicious complex flavor. The prices are moderate. Definitely a good addition to dining in the area.

We were so excited to try this restaurant, partly because we had our rehearsal dinner at Rookwood Pottery 32 years ago and couldn't wait to revisit. The inside of the restaurant has been redone beautifully! Now, onto the less positive part of the review. Our service was very subpar and the food was not good. My husband ordered the special which he said was just OK and I ordered the short rib which came highly recommended by our server and she even said you could cut it with a spoon because it's so tender. As it wound up, I could not even cut it with a knife! It was super tough and even cold. We had waited close to 40 minutes for our food at this point so then the server asked me if I wanted something else. After 10 minutes of waiting for her to bring back the menu, we flagged down the manager who brought a menu over to me and I ordered the gnocchi. It was just okay - not worth the price tag that they had put on it of $36. I feel like the portion size does not reflect the price tag for their entrées and sides. The people at the table next to us were also very unhappy with their service and their food. I hope they can get it together so that another restaurant does not close down in that space but I'm not sure I will spend my money there again!

Tables just a few inches apart. We had a table on the other side just as close.

Unfortunately not the best and probably won't be back. It's very hard to compete in the Italian realm and Al Lupo missed the mark for me. 1st: The tables were annoyingly close! When I got up to leave I could barely squeeze out as a slim woman without getting my coat in the next tables food. So it made an intimate dinner feel so odd. The building was beautiful but the set up ruined it. 2nd: Slow. Each course and drinks were very slow. We got a dessert to go because of the pace and even that was slow. Our waiter was good and very kind, but explanation of the menu was incredibly lengthy, we tuned out. That being said-all of our food came out correctly. 3rd: The food was just ok. I got the truffle pasta. Make sure you LOVE truffle. It was rich. My boyfriend got the genovese (rib eye pasta) and said it was also just ok. Everything also seemed overpriced especially compared to high end Italian in the area. TLDR: The building is beautiful, but not enough to overpower just decent food at a high cost with slow service. I know they are new, but giving this two stars because improvements are needed.

The Italian spot is in a great spot in my Adams where you aren't fighting for parking . The server was efficient , and knew the menu well . Ambiance and the bones of the old restaurant is still here . They even retired a few private rooms which was nice . However , to the bad. I was there for my birthday dinner and it was just okay . The risotto was over cooked so it was mushy. I had the lamb shank and risotto special . You can almost tell from the photo . Thread was fine , but I really liked the butter. I was a little underwhelmed. I will go again in a few months so I'm not writing them off . It just was great. See ya next time , go yourself and let me know.

Celebrated my mom's retirement at Al Lupos and could not have had a better time! We started with wine and the Caprese. The Caprese came out different than we expected (no bread), but the layers of the dish were so good. I always love burrata! We both ordered pasta for dinner. I had the Bolognese and my mom had the Linguini All Genovese - wow! Both were so good and we loved we had some to take home. Our server was fantastic! We are excited to visit again!

Great pasta!! There is a window in one of the dining areas where you can watch them make it. the drinks were also amazing. This is our first time at this location since they've been closed for a while and it is so beautiful inside! Great spot for anniversary or celebrating something fun. It's right in the middle of Mount Adams so you have a beautiful view of the city.

Food was THE BEST Italian I've had in Cincinnati. Service was great, atmosphere was cozy and inviting. 20/10 will visit again.

Most delicious Italian fare at a beautiful & historic venue! Service was excellent! We were a party of 2 & dined outside on a beautiful evening! We're now planning a dinner party of 8 to book a table in a "kilm room." Highly recommended Al Lupo for a great experience & amazing meal!!

One of the better first tries for my wife and I in a long time. Bread service focaccia was soft and buttery, and we loved the asparagus salad. She got the rigatoni, which had just the right amount of spice. And I got the tomahawk lamb chop which sounds weird with sausage sauce on it. But it simply works and was cooked perfectly. Becky was a great server and really guided us with suggestions Highly recommend!

My husband and I went to dinner for our 10 year anniversary after a very difficult week for our family, and we were honestly too emotionally drained to make decisions. Our server, Jasmine, kindly took the reins and chose our meal for us -- which turned out to be the best decision we could have made. Every single dish she brought out was phenomenal. We started with the artichokes, arancini, and whipped ricotta -- each one better than the last. Then came the lemon pasta, spicy vodka pasta, shrimp, spaghetti and meatballs, and veal scallopini. Everything was absolutely delicious and clearly made with so much care. By the end we were so full we couldn't even attempt dessert. What made the evening truly special, though, was the kindness of the team. Levi, the GM, went so far out of his way to make us feel cared for and welcomed during a moment when we really needed it. The warmth and compassion we experienced there meant more than I can adequately put into words. Restaurants often talk about hospitality, but the team at Pepp & Dolores truly embodies it. In general, the food felt underwhelming for the price. My bill was around $100, and I didn't feel the quality or flavor justified it. Overall: great ambiance, but the food didn't meet expectations for the cost. I probably wouldn't return.

Our reservation was at 7:30 and we arrived around 7:25. When we got there I noticed the table near the chef's counter was still occupied, but we weren't too concerned since the party already had their to-go bags on the table. About 15 minutes passed and they ended up ordering dessert (slowly), so it became clear they weren't leaving anytime soon. The manager offered us a different table and apologized, but Lola had been really looking forward to the chef's seating since that's specifically what we reserved. In the end we waited about an hour, which was frustrating, especially since the other party could clearly see we were waiting. Overall it was an awkward situation to be in. That said, the staff handled the situation very kindly. The manager offered Lola a tour of the kitchen and the chance to meet the chef. My daughter was a little nervous and wanted me to go with her, but it seemed like the invitation was meant just for her and they didn't want adults in the kitchen (I get it!). The manager recommended eating the pan a cotta and pan de crème together and that was soooo good! It was a nice, light dessert but very tasty! I would definitely recommend trying it

It's still awesome till this day! My Mr has never been here so he booked a reservation surprise for my 50th birthday (9 friends were invited). When you walk in, it takes you back in time. You feel like you're in Italy. Love the Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling, the mosaic walls and old school pictures from back in the day. This is a family restaurant passed down from generations. And been here for over 70 years! Now that's respect! Omg! The menu is super huge! You better come here with an empty stomach because you will get what you pay for. They have everthing Italian you can think of. Except for pizza. Me and my Mr ordered: Bottle of Banfi Centine Toscana Rosso Spaghetti ala pasquale Canneloni lombardi You get a side salad and Minestrone with your meal. The food was on point! Homemade everything and made with love. The spaghetti had great flavor and love the soup that came with it! The Rosso (wine) went so well with the meal. My Mr and all my friends enjoyed their meals. They give so much food that we had to take some home. What an awesome experience! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. If you want authentic Italian food and love nostalgia, you have to check this place out. You will not be disappointed! I promise!
