I have to be honest I am overly disappointed. I had a gel set from a place back home that lasted beautifully for four weeks. I knew I was pushing it timing wise and should have gotten a fill, so it ended up coming off. I went the next day to Allston Nails to get a new set. (1) She did not wear a mask the entire time. (2) Other girls who were working were clipping their toes near me and just being overall relaxed. I was the only customer in the store but this came off unprofessional and dirty. (3) My set was very short and thick making it look unnatural and tacky. Not like the picture or the actual nail (I saved one that fell off) that I brought in to show her exactly how I wanted them. (4) They charged me more than the website said and randomly didn't take credit cards OR VENMO because the "girl with venmo wasn't there" so I had to pay to withdraw cash from their machine. The woman started commenting on the price of my bag which furthered into an interrogation like conversation on the bag's price making me uncomfortable (left me wondering if she up'd the price for that) (5) Two nails have popped off after 6 days. My last set was FOUR WEEKS and 30 dollars less. I am very disappointed in pretty much every way possible and will never go here again. read more

Nothing bad to say about this place. Love the decor and the treatments they have. I got a gel mani and after two to three days they are starting to chip slowly. I think it could be the polishes there are pretty old looking. Looks like they need to stock up on new fresh ones. I went to Lisa Li and she was awesome. Told her I had an hour break and made sure I was finished before that. I dont know if I'll be going back. For the price I was paying less where I usually go bad my nails lasted two plus weeks. Allston Nails is super convenient for most apartment dwellers on Comm. Ave. I've been getting my nails done here for about 6 months and have always loved the results (I usually get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure). The hot stones they use during the pedicure are amazing and you walk away feeling totally relaxed! My gel manicure usually lasts about 3-4 weeks, which is perfect! Ask for Amy if you can, she is the best and does an amazing job. There are a few suggestions that I would make for this place to go from a 4 star rating to a 5 star rating: 1. When you walk in, it's sometimes unclear of who to talk to. Usually one of the staff members in the back yell across the room and ask you what you're looking to have done. You then have to yell back and tell them what you want. It can be a little awkward and unprofessional, especially if you're new. 2. At times, I worry about the tools they use being clean enough. On a few occasions that I have been there it seems like they are reusing towels, etc. Most of the towels are stained, but overall, it is very clean and this has only happened once or twice. 3. You could cut the tension between staff members there with a knife. I have seen them speak poorly to and about one another in front of customers. However, they are very nice and accommodating to their customers, which is great! 4. Don't bother calling ahead and making an appointment. On busy days, I have seen customers with appointments end up waiting longer than walk-ins. If you're new to the area and would like to treat yourself, or are just looking for a fresh color, this is a convenient place to go! read more

I absolutely love this salon. Every time I go in I feel very relaxed. The music is on but its trendy and not loud at all. The staff does not scream back and forth to one another and the overall atmosphere is relaxing and calm. I also notice they are very clean with their tools and the staff always offers me water or coffee/tea. I have gotten a pedicure which I loved, but more frequently I get the gel manicure. There are so many color choices and I love how long the color lasts - usually 2 weeks for me because I need to cut my nails after that point. The best is the paraffin treatment they give you after your manicure!! Think of it like a wax and it makes your hands so soft it's unreal. The price is fair and reasonable being in such a prime location. If you go during the day/afternoon you usually don't need an appointment but after 4 I would highly recommend one, this place tends to get very busy!! read more

I literally just left the salon. But my friend and I were looking to get our nails done. My regular salon couldn't take both of us so we tried to find one in her area, Allston. We called the salon to check if there was availability. She said yes. We rushed over there only for them to say they could only do my nails cause I only needed a fill and friend wanted a full set. But another customer came in after my friend and got her nails done. The person who did my nails was ok but that experience had already left a sour taste in my mouth. Then it came time to pay. I never usually pay more than $35 for a fill with gel polish. This lady told me my total was $49. $46 for my fill and $3 to repair one nail. That was beyond highway robbery. I paid $45 to get my full set done at my regular nail salon to begin with. This place will definitely not be seeing my credit card again. If you're trying to get overcharged and underwhelmed then go right ahead and drop in. Just inspected my nails further they weren't even painted properly. For $49 I should be getting stellar service. I called and spoke with a staff member that assured me that I can come in and have a facial. I repeated several times and told them what was wrong with my face and what I need. She assured me to come in. When I came in only the manager to tell me that they don't do facial until Wednesday that her staff didn't speak English. I asked her why does she have someone that doesn't speak English answer the phone and tell me to come in. The manager was very rude and not apologetic nor did she offer any compensation for driving 30 min to get here. Unacceptable. The techs have always been friendly, attentive and skilled. The gel generally lasts 3 weeks and my nails look amazing. However, my last 2 sessions were disappointing. After 1 week the gel was chipping but they repaired them at no charge. Next, I tried the dipping powder - beautiful However, at the end of 7 days, three nails had fallen off. At no charge the 3 nails were redone. But, upon inspection, one nail contained a small hair and the other 2 were smudged - exhausted & frustrated, I left. Nails looked horrid until I had time to remove the gel. I can't blame an entire business for one careless technician, so I'll try one last time. Suggestion: take as much care with the repairs as the initial procedure. read more

I don't get my nails done much, but this place had good reviews and I wanted a pedicure today. I went and overall this would have been a good pedicure, except that the woman made me bleed when she trimmed me. it took her like 3 minutes to stop the bleeding and now i'm worried it will get infected since it is on my toe. it really hurt too. I came to this location on 9/15 thinking I would treat myself since it was Friday, and I was getting my car serviced at the nearby Infiniti dealership... so I said why not just stop in to get my nails done while I wait for my car to get done. As I proceed to walk to the salon I called ahead of time to see if they had openings and they did. When I walked into the salon I specifically asked the person who came to the front which I assume was the dedicated guest greeter and asked her if they did a particular design that is showcased on their website with a color (the gold rhinestone nail-tips) they said yeah sure. I proceeded to get a classic manicure which was posted on the side of the massage chair for $33. I tried to relax and melt the stress away but the fire alarm kept going off...still not worried as I tried to zone it out by watching the fashion tv network which I enjoyed...but it never stopped. In the meanwhile my nail tech seems very inexperienced with cutting cuticles and painting my nails...even got some paint on my sandals! But I was still waiting to see what she could do with the gold rhinestone nail tips I wanted...she says oooh we'll get to that. Now it's time to get my hands done; Seriously I felt my hands were being done by my little niece...paint was everywhere, she had to go back around the nails and surrounding areas with acetone and that brush to get the paint off, and of course some spots she missed and had to be told to take it off.... she also cut my nail even after I told her to file only...I was not impressed at all...and she still didn't know how to cut cuticles on my fingernail...at this point I was like damn I should really tell her I'm not feeling this...but didn't want to be rude...time passes and I still don't see any mention or direction to do the nail tips so I asked her again and she asked the lady next to her(I assume she must've been the shop owner-a blond lady) if she can do the design with the gold nail tips...both tell me no they can't do it!!! I said hmmm so I show them another design from Pinterest oh nooo that's too technical....I was like wow ok that defeats the purpose of me coming here...I should've waited until I made it back to Boston to get my nails done by my official nail tech that does designs and everything ...because the one I had didn't have a clue and should not be employed there...I think the blond lady is the one that knows what she's doing, but then again I never had her... but I know if I'm ever in this area again, I will skip this place, and will never recommend it to a fashionista that knows nails! read more

This place is great for couples looking to get away from a stressful week and unwind. I got a facial while my girlfriend got the works (manicure, pedicure, facial) etc. My girlfriend said they have a wide range of selection for nail polish from Chanel, Essie, RGB (chemical free), Mariah Carey's, Katie Perry's brand, etc so there's a preference for everyone. What makes this place stand out from the rest of the nail salons in the area is their customer service. They are very welcoming and provide refreshments and comfortable chairs/seats to provide you an experience worth your money. Not only was she not very talkative or friendly, but she also destroyed my hands. This occurred on not one nail, not two, but three of my fingers! I didn't even want to finish the set because my hand hurt so much from her accidentally drilling my skin on three fingers and drawing a LOT of blood just because she wouldn't slow down and be careful. She apologized about it but seriously this should not be occurring in a professional salon especially multiple times in one visit. NOT going back no matter how nice the decor is.... Recently myself and a friend went to Allston Nails. It was a pleasant surprise to see how busy it was and also how friendly the people who work there were. I am a former salon owner so I was giving them a pretty good glance over and was pleased with the atmosphere. I had a mani and pedi which was done by Yim who gave me one of the best mani and pedis I ever had. My friend was being serviced by Kenny who she said gave her 5 star service. Overall, my experience there was a positive one and the only problem I had was they didn't have a waiting area for their customers. The worst experience I ever had. The ladies just cannot understand you and she will blame you on not making things clear. I've done my nails continuously for so long and have never had any worse service than here. She hurt my nails and I tried to tell her to be gentle and she told me she's been doing this for 10 years. What's wrong with that again? And isn't it reasonable that I got pissed off since here? And the nail lady was like: Why are you mad? The service here is a mess, and it seems like they treat customers with no respect at all. Or maybe they are racist because I am an Asian. At least I could have some request for my nails, right? Went here for the first time last week because convenient... lady was nice and took her time, but gel nails chipped and were cracking after 4-5 days. Called and asked whether I could get them fixed and they told me to come in. After coming in the lady said they would change color, and said it cracked because I have "really bad nails" (thanks?) I asked whether they would charge full price given circumstances, and she said no. The lady who did the polish change was VERY rough. I do have pretty weak nails but she filed my nails so hard my nail beds were stinging. Got to the register and they charged me $20, and before I was even done signing the lady asked for a cash tip and reached out her hand. I always tip, but that is unprofessional. I also asked the original person who told me they wouldn't charge full price and she said "that's how much it is." Granted I paid $33 for the original, that is less. Apparently they've hired some new people. There are three whom I believe are (Russian) just started working in this salon. I've come here many times for acrylic and fill-ins with no complaints. However, a few weeks I received a fill-in from one of these ladies and the result was very poor for 23 dollars. My nails were filed too much and were a weird un even rounded square shape. The acrylic was applied uneven so the nail polish looks like I tried to paint my nails myself over and over. I don't recommend this salon unless you are serviced by an experienced person. I believe these new girls should practice on each other with supervision and critique before taking customer money for services. I am disappointed :( read more

RIP OFF RIP OFF RIP OFF! went in for a simple full set. First of all they didn't disclose the cost of a full set nor did they have any signs posted with the prices. $35 for a full set. I know of other nail salons that are wayyy cheaper. They also did not disclose what came with it. I did not ask for a parrafin treatment on my hands. they said it was free but i think they include that to jack up the prices. They also kept trying to get me to upgrade to gel nails. I came here with a friend for pedicures based on Yelp reviews and I think the quality of the experience is largely based on the staff you get. We came early on a Saturday evening and there were no other customers. My pedicurist was a young man who partially paid attention during the whole thing. Stationed me under the nail dryer at the end and didn't bother to turn it on, just walked away and got involved with his cell phone. I had to ask for someone to come and turn it on. Also, I didn't notice until after we left that he had not painted all the way to the edges of some of the nails - so this is going to grow out and look bad fairly soon. It was expensive, and the hot stone massage spoken of so highly by other Yelpers lasted about half a minute. I think my friend had a better more thorough experience but I would never go back. Lesson learned for me - check the pedicurist's work before you leave the establishment. But I still believe they should do a good job without having to be checked on and asked to fix it. read more

I went to this salon when I first moved to the area. (I have since found better things). I went in later at night when it wasn't too busy but they still had about an hour and a half before closing. Great! Since a gel mani should only take about 45 minutes to an hour. NOPE. It took the girl about an hour and twenty minutes to do my nails. They looked okay, but not great. Meanwhile, what bothered me was this blonde girl behind the one doing my nails. She was just staring at me, then counting her twentys, on her phone, packing up etc. The girl who was doing my nails did not seem bothered by it; but clearly they were leaving together and she was getting impatient. The only real positive I got from the salon was the fact that they give a "free" paraffin dip with every mani. However I am sure that I was paying for it since the price of the mani was more expensive than usual and sub par to other places in the area. read more

If you're looking for a really CLEAN place that does a very exact job, this is your nail salon. This place is terrific. Seriously terrific. I've been coming here for a little over a year, and I've had acrylics, gel, pedicures, eyebrow waxes, and massages here. I'm pretty sure I've been serviced by everyone who works here at least once, and they've all been really impressive. The manager, Lan, keeps these people super sharp. Nails are done perfectly, and I'm a perfectionist. My nails are always exactly symmetrical and clean. Nails are always exactly the same length, and their gel manicures last 3+ weeks. Today was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I went in for a pedicure and gel manicure, and picked the color I wanted for my toes. I was told there was no Essie gel polish but that they have many gel colors ("3,000" -obviously exaggerated) and they could match one. While having my pedicure done by a nail tech another nail tech (Julie) came over with three colors to see if they matched. They didn't. I asked my nail tech if we could check and she said sure after my toes were done. After mani prep I went to the back sink to wash my hands when my nail tech began to help me find a matching color. Out of no where the nail tech (Julie) who had first helped to try and match my colors came stomping into the back room and started yelling at me telling me that this was taking too long, and there were no matching gel colors and that there were a lot of customers and I needed to hurry up. I was completely humiliated! As if I was not a paying customer who deserved any time. To make matters worse management was ZERO help giving a surface "I'm sorry" with no steps forward to show a sincere apology or any interest in customer satisfaction. I wish I could give zero stars on this rating. If you want to pay to be humiliated, yelled at and rushed out the door (without so much as a smile to thank me for being subjected to near verbal harassment) while getting a sub par over priced manicure then Allston Nails is the place for you. read more

This is in response to the 5-star review criticizing the college student. I am not a college student, nor broke and I found to be turned off by the way they go about bumping up your manicure without letting you know. I asked for a manicure and my friend received a pedicure while she waited for me. I do want to say the place was very nice and my manicurist was as well but after she finished my manicure, her and another worked left with me drying under the UV rays and left us with the older woman who didn't speak any English. She had no idea what we were saying and we could not leave until the women returned almost 20 minutes later so we can pay... $63 dollars. I did not ask for my hands to be covered in wax but she did it anyway and charged me for something I didn't ask for. Probably won't return. This nail salon is amazing! I started going here the day after it opened and I will say that I wont go anywhere else. I get my eyebrows waxed here as well as my lip, I have gotten both acrylic nails, gel nails and great manicures. I have yet to do a pedicure but that is next on my list since I have seen them do it and it looks like they take there time which I LOVE! I have been going every 2 weeks to keep up with everything and every time I leave I am beyond pleased. I agree that their prices are a little high but you know what it is worth every penny. Dont get me wrong I worry about money like a lot of other people but when I do something for my self (which is not often) I want to feel great when I leave and if that means paying a little extra so be it. The staff is awesome! I am not really the type of person that talks a lot when I get my nails done but I find myself talking to them. They are very inviting and friendly and the owner is freaking awesome. She makes sure that you are having a good experience, she recognizes that your a loyal customer. The nail salon is also beautiful, the decor makes you feel like your in a really high end place with the huge chandelier and two big tvs. Also what I love most is that if you dont like something the way they do it if you say something they will correct and they wont get pissed. Every place I go to when I ask them to change something they catch an attitude which makes me uncomfortable as hell but they alter it as many times as you like them to until its right. Also it is very convenient! I work across the street so right when I get off work I can go right in. Over all my experience here is great and I will continue to go here on a regular basis. This is by far the best nail salon I've found in the area. I'm a sucker for aesthetics, and this place is beautiful. Everything is impeccably clean, decorated to the 9's, and equipped with a giant chandelier. Everyone that works there is super friendly, and absolutely into having a chat or helping you choose exactly what you want them to do. Their prices represent their quality; if you're getting a manicure you're getting the whole 9 yards with parafin and serious attention. I've been coming here since they opened last March, and the owner (who is fabulously stylish and helpful, btw) told me the other day that in appreciation for their first year, they're doing free waxing all day on March 1. All I can say is, a pretty, clean, and comfortable environment is exactly where I want to be for a mani/pedi/eyebrow wax. Wouldn't go anywhere else in the area. read more

The place is immaculate and the service FANTASTIC! I got a manicure/pedicure and the girls did an excellent job, The absolutely GORGEUS and stylish Owner 'Lan' was very polite and courteous and kept checking in her talented staff. The vibe was very social and I found myself striking up a conversations with my chair neighbor and her chair neighbor. . I became a 'regular' instantly! This is definitely NOT your average nail salon by any means. The decor has a royal feel to it, somewhat exclusive.
