I have been an Allstate customer for 25 years. I recently skipped a payment, didn't realize I hadn't made it, then made the next one. My agency let me know a few days ago, and so I asked if I could pay it off, or if they could give me a few days as it's the literal middle of the week. They said they couldn't. So i contacted corporate through their social media, they also essentially told me pay up or be dropped. 25 years as a customer, not even a hiccup in all that time, and that is their level of customer service and appreciation. I was hit by someone who failed to yield the right of way about 4 months ago. The agents in Mark Goodson's office in Enterprise AL as well as the Allstate adjusters and litigation teams quickly took care of my car's damage and also made sure I got my $500 deductible back. All I really had to do is provide the police report and give statements as to what happened so very little work on my end. Everything went very smoothly and quickly and very professional. Update: We have gone from bad to worse! Here we are 8months after the initial claim with no resolution. We have gotten a public adjuster, filed a Department of Insurance claim, and things just keep going downhill. After requesting a new claims adjuster at Allstate, which we received (Lance Yamasaki), it's as if he's even newer and more clueless than Carmen. This guy denied coverage on the loft area which was where the incident occurred AND they have already paid out some on. Seriously?! Oh and not to mention he's now asking for pictures showing the area.....pictures they received long ago. It's as if no one at Allstate communicates and nothing is streamlined. We had Allstate for about 8 years. They insured our home and vehicles. We recently received a 45% increase in our auto insurance. I spoke to my agent and asked why the increase. He said it was an industry wide increase. Needless to say, I shopped and found auto insurance immediately for half the price. We have paid Allstate premiums with autopay.. I called my Allstate agent and requested our insurance to be canceled at the end of the month. I asked the office if we were paid up to date, and they said yes. Be careful when switching or changing policies with Allstate, I moved my property and vehicle's thinking I would get a better rate and Allstate didn't like the material of my roof even though it was never had a problem and still has a 8 year warranty they cancelled the policy and dragged out potential reinstatement for two weeks and now the cost of insuring the very same property that they insured 2 years ago a $894 is now $1,500 to $1,600 what a mess before moving any insurance make sure all inspections from the agents are done. If I could leave zero stars I would. Contacted them 9/30/23 about damage sustained as a result of flash flooding in NYC was told by 2 different agents that it would be covered. Was told my deductible amount. Submitted photos of damage and estimate from contractor to fix it. All calls are recorded now they are refusing to honor their word it was covered. Absolutely terrible. I had a claim in 2017 and Florida was my agent. Customer service was worse than bad and I had to sleep in my home during repairs (drywall and floor staining) because they wouldn't put me in a hotel. Bad follow up and very stressful process. Claim was not my fault but from neighbor above toilet flooding. I recently had to put in 2 claims 4 years later. One because of a construction project on building and another from neighbor above dish washer flooding. They sent me a letter to cancel my insurance with no prior warning that filling 2 claims would cancel me, 3 claims in 5 years. I ask if I could cancel one of the claims because no work has been done and they said NO. They were supposed to call me back today and didn't. I have not even got the work done because there has been no follow up with me and they wont send out a second restoration company for an estimate as the first was too high. This company has treated me terrible over the last 5 years. DO NOT USE JOE SCHNEIDER!!!!!!!!! BEWARE! I went to look for another insurance company today and All State Joe Schneider has 5 claims on my profile, I only filed 3! When I ask what the other 2 were I was told they didn't know but, there was no payout from them. They never followed up with me in regards. My car broke down and I called for my towing coverage to be used. We get everything squared away then two hours later they call me back to see if the tow company picked up the car and I said no they haven't then they tried to charge me $95 for a flat bed to use to tow the car and when I said the cars been towed before it doesn't need a flatbed they said they weren't going to send a towing company out until I give them the $95 AFTER they already told me about two hours beforehand that the towing company was on its way and I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. I called the towing company with the number allstate provided, allstate never dispatched the towing company. This is the WORST treatment I've ever had with an insurance company. read more

You're in good hands? I had a real frustrating experience with Allstate. I was displeased at how they handled a claim I had with them. Their insured ran their car into my property, was clearly at fault, making this seemingly a pretty cut and dry, open and shut case. Allstate obviously owed for the claim, but there was a ton of delays. It was completely valid. I'd call every few days to see what the delays were, and kept getting all kinds of new reasons for delay. Here in Texas, if the insurer doesn't pay or deny the claim within a certain amount of time, you get to hire an attorney at their expense to recoup damages, plus interest. Be sure to let your adjuster know if they're pulling the delay tactics for too long. If not, you can at least get bit of interest for their delays. They can't make you wait forever. In all though, they paid what was a fair amount that the repairman agreed to work with. The adjuster was good about answering the phone and returning phone calls in a timely fashion and was professional and courteous. But, he was eventually just good at coming up with reasons why Allstate didn't come up off checks to cover the repairmen's bills that needed payment. read more

Any insurance company can boast about lowering your car insurance rate. All they have to do is provide you with less coverage. That's precisely how my Allstate salesperson met my auto insurance price point. Unbeknownst to me I found this out the hard way a couple of months later when Allstate attempted to charge me extra for uninsured motorist protection. I refused to pay for additional coverage because it should have been in my original policy quote. Due to the dishonesty of the Allstate sales weasel that sold me a lemon policy I would be giving Allstate the boot in a few short months for pulling such an unscrupulous and unethical stunt. Allstate wanted the extra revenue for the uninsured motorist protection so the company pulled the funds out of my savings account. They didn't get away with much money because I strategically kept only one dollar in the account. I filed a complaint with my bank and prevented the Allstate swindlers from getting their dirty hands in my bank account ever again. A phone representative from Allstate assured me that all I would have to do is sign a form opting out of uninsured motorist coverage and the overdraft funds would be reversed. The Allstate employee lied. I was never provided with a full refund. Over the phone I could not see the Allstate employee's purported "good hands". He had his fingers crossed while making his pledge to me. There are valid reasons why a well-known consumer advocacy publication places Allstate near the very the bottom of customer service ratings. Well I was told by my claim adjuster that my final payment would get resolved by the 23rd of last month here I am on the 16th of December almost a month later and Emily Wade who is my claim adjuster refuses to call me back I've called the call center since the 23rd at least 20 times every single time they tell me we're going to put in a 24-hour call notice if it doesn't get resolved s going to get escalated but nothing ever gets escalated I have responded to Allstate community Care which is the automated response to any complaints on Yelp and on Allstate at least three to four times this will be the final and last time I'm doing this because I would not recommend anybody to get Allstate insurance they are the worst insurance ever like i said before 32 years of making my payment on time but Allstate takes their time in paying you back. read more

I've been a customer of the Autoclub for over 20 years and 3 times they have left me stranded, twice in the middle of town and once in a simi remote area. The first two I never received a call back and had to get a independent tow company. The LAST and final was in Pine Valley CA. I called and the quoted me over $600.00 dollars because it was over the mileage and that's what the tow company charged plus they would not come out until the following afternoon, I called at 5:30pm. They said the tow company would not come out because of shortages. I got ahold of a Local tow company in El Cajon, HANKS TOWING, they were great, Hank didn't hesitate and within 45 minutes, he showed up and was on his way to my house in LESS than half of what my "SUPPOSED" autoclub quoted me with their IFFY show up time BTY, i should have known ALLSTATE was a horrible company. Six years ago my wife passed away, After a few months I finally called ALLSTATE insurance which I had for 38 years. When I called to inform them of her passing they said ok. I've been a customer of Allstate for decades and it's mostly because my local agent is excellent. Today, I called the office and got an automated answering system. It took three tries to actually get to talk to the agent I was calling. It used to be their direct line. They said corporate Allstate made this change. And I wanted to pay my six months in full so I get a discount, but Allstate said I can't use a credit card. I can only get the discount by having it withdrawn from my checking. (Obviously favoriting the upper income clients) I have all of my bills automatically go to a specific card so I'm not surprised and overdrawn. I get paid once a month and it's just easier to use the credit card and pay it off than try to watch each day's balance. Allstate is about to lose a customer by their own hand. The person that hit my car even admitted that it was his fault to me and the Glen Ellyn police officer. this was done while backing out of a parting spot. The pictures show that I have damage to the drivers rear quarter panel in back of the rear tire, while the person that hit me, has damage to the rear bumper. The pictures are evident who is at fault. Allstate said that their investigation has decided that the accident is 50/50. I have to take my claim through my own insurance company and pay my $500 deductible. My investigation shows 2 things. We have 2 homes and 4 vehicles with Allstate and have been customers for a very long time. After a hail storm in the area, our claim for a roof due to the damage has been denied repeatedly. Every home in our neighborhood has a new roof as a result of these storms. We have had 2 independent contractors look at our roof and agree that it has storm damage and needs to be replaced. It is clear that several other contractors think there was damage in the area and several other insurance companies agree as so many other roofs have been replaced. Allstate's procedure for roof claims involves them hiring an outside company to take pictures of the roof and submit them to the claims department - the local agent is completely removed from the process and the claims office is in a remote location. As a result, no one from Allstate ever has first hand knowledge of the nature of the damage. This has been an unnecessarily prolonged battle for what should have been a very easy approval - with no end in sight. Very disappointing. Only after this began did we learn that Allstate is notorious for denying perfectly appropriate claims and making the appeals process cumbersome and lengthy. We will be switching once this is resolved and will make certain people understand what they are signing up for when they consider Allstate. read more

I wish I could give this -5 stars. We opened a policy for renters and vehicle insurance. None of the drivers have any tickets, accidents or claims, IOW we are great clients. Allstate sent us the policy and there was a problem. The effective date for the vehicle insurance was 20 NOV 2021... we opened the policy on 23 Sep 2021. So we immediately called to get the effective dates changed (btw we paid in full). Allstate said they would fix the problem in 24-48 hours. Guess what its been over 2 weeks with us calling and trying to get this fixed. Each customer service rep said the problem was fixed but again every 2-3 days the effective date was still the same. Allstate kept sending the same 20 Nov 2021 effective date vehicle insurance cards! Now its 8 Oct 2021 and we got an email stating they could not process the request for vehicle policies. We called back and the representative and supervisor could not give a reason why Allstate couldn't update with new effective dates - they were frustrated too! The last time we called the supervisor said she could fix it but guess what, it would take another 24-48 hours. Hello! Allstate has been saying that since 23 Sept and we are not going to fall for that trick. I have never in my 55 years had an insurance company be unable to issue insurance cards that same day. Matter of fact when we bought the two vehicles, paid in full, we got insurance over the phone in less than an hour with another company. The other big problem is Allstate could careless that we were driving uninsured even though we paid for a full 6 months! They also didn't care that we had spent over $750 in taxis to go to work, buy food. If that wasn't bad enough we can't register our vehicle without insurance and we have limited time to do that (after a certain date we will get fined). BTW our family has military members and you are required to have insurance to get on base, which we cannot do. Allstate is the biggest failure of an insurance company I have ever experienced. There is zero compassion, almost impossible to get ahold of a live representative, I must have spend 10 hours trying to figure out how to talk to someone. This is terrible professionalism, zero customer service and totally unacceptable behavior that advertises that 'you are in good hands with Allstate'. Last year, I found out that when I transitioned from Geico that my evidence of liability insurance was not submitted to the DMV. I am not sure if the burden is on Allstate to do this or me. The DMV renewal states that it is submitted electronically by the insurance company. They were speedy about processing our claim however they now have new policy that makes us pay for the rental car (estimated to be at least 2 weeks) personally and then will reimburse us after everything is finished. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! i have NEVER filied a claim in over 20 years. File claim day after storm on dec 19. they tell me they cant get an inspector to my house till mid Jan. Roof leak cause of wind damage. I tell them I cant wait till mid Jan I live in NY and snow was already predicted over the next weekend. I had company tar up any problem areas in addition to multiple tarps. The come and inspect and say the tar was there from a previous faulty repair and theyre not liable. excuse me. i have the receipt from tarp company saying they applied tar. they decided tp pay some remidation fees to servpro but refusing to pay any replacement fees. In summation they assumed some responsibity....... Be careful they can also replace $60k cabinets with 10k cabinets and call it a day.
