My main goal of taking a firearm class was to get rid of fear and build confidence but I have achieved way more than that. From learning basics to choosing the right gun for yourself by trying different brands and models, you won't regret. I found this institute through the CCW certified vendor list and took the AllSafe Basic Handgun class. There are two classes (indoor and outdoor), which you only need to take one but I wanted to have more experience so I took both. Practice makes it better! And, I made the best decision ever. Indoor class takes 4 hours (two hours of lecture and two hours of practice at the range) and outdoor class takes 8 hours (two hours of lecture and six hours of practice at the range.) If you have the time and want to learn more in details, I strongly recommend outdoor class since it has more shooting activities and the instructors are more thorough. TJ is a wonderful instructor. He is very patient, keen and fun! And, the other instructors are very passionate and knowledgeable. The instructors are all volunteers so don't forget to thank them after the class. I've taken 2 NRA Instructor courses with TJ. I was recommended to TJ by a coworker, and I learned quickly the reason why. I've taken multiple courses and drills. This is by far the better one if you're looking for a little more advanced drills and legal understanding of use of firearms. Peggy Grangetto provided a great foundation and referred me to TJs classes. And I can't be more grateful. TJ, and his team, ran us through the knowledge in the am. This includes laws and policies in CA and other states. Provides a great breakdown of when to use and not to use your firearm and why. Then we went to the range. We got scores. It was real training. I'm fairly new to owning a firearm and my friend recommended that I take Michael Hernandez's class. Micheal is an instructor for TJ who owns Allsafe Defense. I did the CCW class as well as the shooting in dark settings class. Both were excellent. I do recommend if you're new to gun owning to definitely take a few of TJs beginning classes first. Both I took were excellent and never a dull moment. The time passed quickly. They take every precautions to make sure that safety is the number one priority. Also they spend the time necessary to go over all firearm laws and clearly explain how to avoid trouble in the first place but how to be prepared to use your firearm if it does become necessary to protect yourself or your family from injury or death. Standing in a stall and plinking paper targets will not help you 1) Move 2) draw your weapon 3) aim and place a shot(s) accurately 4) reload There is room for everyone to improve and while this is serious business. This a professionally run, super safe, range. The CCW class is engaging and friendly and really teaches you what you need to know. No one is made to feel out of place or unwelcome because they don't have the most experience. The staff will help with all direction. They are firm in their orders and rules to be followed but this serious business and I appreciated that part of it as it only takes one mistake. I incorrectly laid my weapon down with the ejection slide port facing down and was instructed on why you don't do that. I encourage all responsible gun owners to take a class here with this group. We just took the basic handgun course last week. We are 2 middle aged women who had no experience with handguns. TJ, Marty and all of the instructors are so knowledgeable, friendly and patient! The first hour is an informative, interactive classroom setting where they teach you gun safety, parts of the gun, your stance, eye domination and how to properly hold the handgun. In the shooting range portion, the instructors were very detailed and provided individual guidance and assistance as needed. Way beyond what we expected and we've been talking about it for days. We highly recommend this class to anyone with no experience who wants to learn how to properly and safely handle firearms. For those who already have experience, it is an excellent refresher course. All the other reviews have already said, what I am going to say. It was a very thorough and technical class, discussing specifications, laws and some history. TJ and all the other instructors are all adept, watchful and most importantly fun! I felt safe and at ease and for the women, there were plenty of women instructors teaching as well. I had a wonderful experience and if I continue to pursue training, I will definitely use Allsafe again in the future. I enrolled my husband and I for the AllSafe Basic Handgun course as his birthday gift. We both LOVED it and here's why: AllSafe Defense is very organized, thorough, fast pace, friendly and helpful. Our class had "newbies" like me, others who had a year of experience, and more. TJ and his instructors were kind, helpful and cautious. They focus on precision and speed. Not many places do that for beginners. I loved that safety was an absolute priority but so was having a good time. We covered a lot of info in the beginning of the course and as complete beginner, I was given specific feedback after every shooting exercise. It was great to try out different handguns to see which worked best for each student. I left confident, knowing what handguns I preferred and skills to work on. Personally, I was surprised at how tense I was shooting a 22 in the beginning. But by the end of the day, I was very at ease. Thank you again.  This course is exactly what I wanted as a beginner but waaayyyyyy more fun and friendly than I ever imagined. The instructors were so genuine and friendly. The first time I signed up for a course life happened and I was unable to attend. I emailed Mr. TJ, and without hesitation I was rebooked and scheduled to attend the following month. I hit another snag, I thought for sure I'm going to have to pay the tuition again and start all over, All Safe was most gracious again.
