Y'all, this gym, Eugene, and his coaching staff are AMAZING. The other people I train with are so awesome, and the vibe is so positive. The warm, welcoming environment is inclusive, upbeat and makes working out the best part of the day. Whatever your goals are, Eugene is there to help you whether you're 30 and in great shape or 70 and want to get/stay strong and active. I started…read moreworking out with one of the trainers, Lauren (also a good friend of mine, full disclosure here) last July. So basically, you do extremely heavy weights extremely slowly. You totally max out your muscles until you quite literally can't do anymore. And then sometimes, you want to hurl. And often, extremely foul words fly out of my mouth while working out with her. Actually, this morning, as I was doing leg press I think I said "Dang. I sound like a dude" because I did. You know, the big burly dudes at the gym who grunt and sound weird. Me, this morning. I have seen pretty cool results from this. I do weights once a week with her. You heard me - once a week! And my muscles stay really nicely toned. Now, you have to eat right, and do some cardio too, this isn't a magic workout that suddenly gives you a perfect body, but especially if you're a female, building muscle mass is very important. This is a way to do that without spending hours at the gym, or even having a gym membership for that matter. But you also can't be a big wimp and quit. Gotta trust the trainers and push yourself. I lovehate it. But I keep going back so I guess the love wins. Oh and they will work you out for free the first time. So if you're just curious, you can try it out and see what you think. I know, I sound like an ad for this place, but I really think it's good stuff and I feel great about myself when I see that I'm doing more weight, or going longer on a certain machine. And I love that little muscle that runs from my shoulder down my arm that is all nicely defined now!

Amy has also helped with variations on my other workouts to get the maximum benefit and is always keeping up with "what's trending" in workout and nutrition. They offer Olympic -style weight lifting, athletic training as well as high intensity workouts. When is the last time you worked out in a sandbox or ran on turf grass or had someone harnessed to you? The exercises here are varied so the workouts are much more interesting. The instructors are hands-on, friendly and very fit--think Olympic athletes. The classes are small so when you are here, there is a sense of genuine camaraderie among the group. Each class is also modified to meet your needs, you work to your best and the instructors will be there to guide and push you. My favorite of their classes is the HIT IT, which combines strength and conditioning and high-intensity all in 1 short hour. The class is fast paced and I always feel greatly sore when I leave. They offer a trial class for free. Registering is online and very easy.

Another huge plus to me is that the members themselves are great people to be with. I feel more comfortable working out with this crowd than I have anywhere since my college days.
