I have used Allmake on 3 occasions, twice for refrigerator repair, and once for electric double oven repair. The same technician (Zoh) came each time. I was skeptical about using a repair service other than ones that were authorized by the appliance manufacturer, but the cost for Allmake to do a diagnosis was far less, and Allmake was more willing to discuss the issue over the phone before scheduling an appointment. Since the appliances were out of warranty, I decided to give Allmake a try and hoped they would have multi-brand knowledge. They were able to set up an appointment within a couple of days of my call on all three service calls. Zoh was very personable and professional and even removed his shoes upon entry of my home. On one of the refrigerator repairs (having explained the problem to Lindsay on the scheduling call ) Zoh quickly diagnosed the problem and discovered solid ice in the back and bottom of the inside refrigerator and said he may have to return after it was defrosted because he could not get to the condenser because of the ice. Instead, he said he could try to apply hot wet towels to the ice to see if it would melt enough to chip away, and it did. He brought the condenser with him (having suspected it was the issue from what I shared with Lindsay), which was impressive. After the visit, I researched the cost of the condenser online, which had plenty of 'OEM' options that were a quarter of the cost of what Allmake charged. I challenged Allmake and Zoh called and explained that the online options were all plastic inferior versions of the metal OEM, and offered no significant warranty. The condenser he purchased was through the manufacturer and provided both warranties for the part, and warranties for the service call to replace the part if defective, which I would have had to pay for to replace the cheaper version. This made me feel more confident of Allmake's commitment to quality parts and service! My double oven is all electronic with touch screen technology and had a persistent error code. I knew this potentially could require replacement of the entire control panel and might be very costly. I asked Allmake to research the cost of the panel before sending someone (considering I might purchase a new oven instead of repairing this one), and they complied with my request. Not many service providers would do this without a service visit. They called the next day and advised it was $999 for the panel, and if I went with it, there would be no charge to install it. I decided to go ahead and schedule the service call with them, hoping it would be something that would not require the whole panel be replaced. Zoh was the technician again, and I wondered how someone could have in-depth expertise in multiple appliance types, let alone multiple brands of each type. He removed the display which was a complex array of circuit boards, wires, and connectors and checked against schematic diagrams he had already pulled up on his phone prior to the visit. He found a paper thin square with micro wiring that appeared to have a loose connection to another circuit board. Like a surgeon, he carefully tried to clean and secure the connection with precision tools. Remarkably, it was successful...the oven was back in operation with no error codes, but unfortunately, after a couple of days, the error code started again, indicating it was a more complex issue. After explaining to Zoh, he did not hesitate to offer a refund, since his solution did not fix the problem. And he offered more options for me to troubleshoot. He encouraged me to call the manufacturer to see if there were any recalls, or if reprogramming the control panel (rather than replacing) was an option. After investigating, it was confirmed replacement was the only option. I researched online and found an OEM panel for less than the $999 quoted. Again, Zoh encouraged me to research the online supplier's warranty and return policy. As it turned out, there were strict rules around returns, meaning if it was taken out of the box and it did not fix the problem, it was not returnable, AND there was a restocking fee. Zoh worked with his supplier to get a discount AND their assurance that if the replacement did not fix the problem, I would be able to return it for a full refund. It's working, and with Allmake's 90-day warranty, and the agreement with the supplier, I feel confident in my decision. This level of honesty and service goes above and beyond and I will not hesitate to use Allmake for future appliance repair needs, and recommend them highly for their professionalism, expertise, and value! read more

Zoheir and Dylan showed up one hour into the four hour appointment window I was given. They had actually tried to come over two days earlier on Saturday but we weren't going to be home at that time. They were friendly, informative and professional. They quickly diagnosed the problem with our refrigerator and had it fixed in 15 minutes. We are new to the community and got a recommendation from a friend for Allmake when we discovered a leak in our 17 year old washing machine. We called on Thursday morning and we had a service representative at the door in the afternoon. Zoheir was very congenial and explained all the steps he took to analyze the problem. I called Allmake on Friday because my dryer was super loud. They offered to come out that day but my schedule wouldn't allow it. They came out today (Tuesday) with replacement parts on hand if needed based on my description of the issue while making the appointment. Appointment was set between 2 and 6. Dylan showed up at 1:55. Extremely professional. Took the dryer apart and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. No replacement parts needed. I didn't observe his work as i was busy working myself. He was kind enough to take the dryer apart again to show me how and where the problem occurred and offered a quick and easy maintenance solution to avoid the problem in the future. 30 day warranty on the work. I was expecting a great outcome based on the reviews. I relayed to Allmake prior to the appointment that the tech should bring a dolly to remove my built in double oven. My appt was set up between 8-12. At 730 am Zoh rang our doorbell, then before I could answer, returned to his car. When he came back to the door he was confused and it appeared he thought he had the wrong address or went to the wrong address although it wasn't clear. He came in, looked at the oven, then indicated he needed a dolly and we would need to re-schedule for tomorrow at either 6/7am or 6/7 pm. 2 hours later Roxanne left me a voicemail that Zoh is not coming back and the owner Dave said we should use Precision Appliance in Batavia as he thinks we would be better served by them and happier with their service. We did our due diligence by notifying Allmake 4 days in advance that the tech would need a dolly so they had ample time to prepare. If they couldn't have it available to him, they should have re-scheduled. Then the owner tell us to go elsewhere to get better service! Based on my experience, I don't think finding better service will be hard. read more

I have used Allmake Appliance Repair in the distant past, but just haven't had a need, or so I thought until today. I smelled a petroleum smell around my dryer so I called Allmake. The call reminded me what a fantastic service and how fortunate Fox Valley is to have this company in our area. I had just chalk painted an antique chest in another room then waxed it. The area in which I painted did not have this smell, but the lady that answered the phone at Allmake was on it and asked if I painted recently. I did a couple days ago and just waxed the piece. She said the dryer picks up on it to burn the smell away and will take a couple weeks to dissipate. Who knew? I thought something was wrong with my dryer. Several weeks ago, the electronic control board on our gas range broke away from the front panel. I called an appliance repair firm that I have used in the past and the repair was completed satisfactorily, although expensively because after all, the control board is probably one of the most expensive parts in the range. I just was not overly impressed with the technician. As a matter of fact, I was rather put off by some of his comments which I thought were not customer friendly. Nothing terrible mind you, I just did not get a good feeling from the guy. Two weeks later, we had another problem with the range, this time with the self-ignitor that lights the burners. So I went searching on my trusty ol' Yelp and came up with Allmake Appliance Repair, a local company with glowing remarks. And am I glad I called them. First off, Allmake's diagnostic charge is less than the other firm's. When Nathan arrived I told him about the control board and he set to work. He was very personable, thorough, and explained exactly what he thought caused the problem and what needed to be done to fix it. Thankfully, the problem was not caused by anything the other repair firm had done, but Nate got us up and cooking again at a reasonable price and on a timely basis. He gave us his honest opinion on the appliance, and, knowing that it is probably 20 years old, repaired it the cheapest way possible for now, but also gave us a reasonable quote in the event we decide to change out the panel. He also gave us some great pointers on how to car for the oven and other appliances to make them last as long as possible. THEY FIX MICROWAVES!! All Make really helped me out of a nasty situation when I placed food in a recently purchased microwave (see my review of Budget Appliances). After I hit "reheat" the microwave started but the door would not open when the cycle finished so my zucchini patty was stranded in microwave limbo. All Make not only fixed the microwave but also replaced the broken plastic part with a better part. The microwave now works like a charm. I know that most every service and product gets good reviews and bad reviews. You can't assume you can please everyone. However, in my situation it wasn't a matter of pleasing me. They charge a fair price to come out - $79. I knew that up front. I told the person I called and made the appointment with for the anaylsis of my washer problem what it was doing. They said they work on all brands even though they weren't factory authorized dealers for Electrolux washers. The tech came out, spent about half an hour, took off the top and the back, we had the error code I was getting so he looked that up in the manual and told me what it meant. He did not test anything, never ran the washer to see what was going on, but he did keep telling me I should get a better washer, Electrolux isn't as good as LG. Well he wasn't there to tell me what kind of washer he would recommend he was there to determine the problem and give me a cost for repairs. He also made sure he told me several times that if it were the computer board or motor he would be very expensive, like $400-500. When he looked at the rear with the panel off, he saw some old rust in areas. He said that's the problem so it is PROBABLY the motor. This problem only began a couple of weeks earlier and I told him that so how could rust actually build up like that in only 2 weeks? It takes relatively long time to actually materialize so this rust was from an over flow or something years ago. Finally he put everything back together and said if he had to guess what it was he would bet on the motor. Then I had a factory authorized tech come out to diagnose. He did everything that should have been done that the first tech did not do.He spent the better part of an hour testing an actual load, checking voltages to be sure it was correct, took off the belt and tested the spin and looseness of the motor, it was fine. It didn't make any noise either another clue it wasn't the motor. Finally he confirmed that it was the computer board and it had to be replaced. The cost was far more than I wanted to put into a 7 year old washer, $650, so I paid him and we were done. The machine does operate just fine in every cycle (there are at least 10 different cycles) except "Normal" so we will just use the other cycles until this thing goes out entirely or preempt a breakdown and we decide to replace it. I wasted $79 on Allmakeappliances but that's better than having them replace the motor which would have been the wrong part. read more

Refrigerator that is more than 50 years old and although Neil had t seen that particular model before, he knew everything about it just by looking it over. He diagnosed my issue, repaired a condenser fan on the spot and charged less than $100! My appointment was also at 6:30 a.m. Yes, it was early (by choice) but a great option for those of us that have to work and shuffle kids to school. We've been lucky enough to have never needed any repairs on our appliances since we moved into our home 7 years ago. Needless to say, we had no idea who to call when our dishwasher stopped working. There's a reason Allmake has (at the time of this writing) twenty five star reviews...and even the 18 "not recommended" reviews are all 5 stars as well. The reason is that they are the best- honest technicians who can quickly diagnose and fix a problem. When my washer leaked, Neil was quick to figure out the problem and fix it, at roughly 40% of the cost of the two other estimates I received. The only slight, slight downside is that they don't take credit card- only cash or check. Well worth the minor inconvenience for those of us who like to charge everything, for the exemplary service and honesty. read more
