I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE A STAR BUT HAD TO BE ABLE TO POST THIS WARNING HE IS ABUSIVE AND A CON MAN. Home Warranty of America needs to remove this repair man and his scam service IMMEDIATELY!!! He was called in to look at my fridge/freezer and dryer. Because he was doing 2 jobs the HWA claim said we had to pay $100 for each claim ($200) but because it was at the same house they wavered one of the fees. He only looked at the dryer, he looked at the fridge AND DID NOTHING saying it was fine even though the central piece was burning hot to the touch. Less than 24 hours later it died, totally defrosted, Water and blood was all over the kitchen floor. We lost over $600 worth of food and had to throw everything away. My husband called HWA who were going to send another repair man out and charge us again as a totally new claim! I called ALDO who showed up in less than 15 minutes, he pulled the fridge out, pulled the back off saying the condenser was the reason. HE TOLD US TO LIE to HWA and tell them he had fixed the fridge/freezer. He said that hopefully it would hold out until 30 days had passed. Why? because he told us that without a home inspection because as new home owners we should of waited 30 days before making a claim because HWA would NOT do anything without the home inspection paperwork. HE INSTRUCTED MY HUSBAND TO LIE to the HWA rep and tell them he had fixed the fridge the first visit.Then call it in again after 30 days, and ask for him, pay another $100 and he would come out and either fix it or tell them we needed it replaced. He then told us TO PLUG IN AN ELECTRIC FAN BEHIND THE FRIDGE "ON THE FLOOR" TO HAVE IT BLOW ON THE MOTOR SO IT WOULDNT BURN OUT AGAIN! An electric fan that would be sitting in the water if in fact it didnt hold out for 30 days with the likelihood to electrocute anyone unknowingly stepping in the puddle of water that would form! For the dryer HE SAID he would return Friday between 11-2 to fix the dryer. I told him that I had just started a new job so Friday would work. He didnt come UNTIL 6PM!!!! When he came I let him in asked why are you 4 hours late. He raised his voice to talk over me saying I told him to be here after 3pm, I said no one here told him nor anyone else to be here that late. At this p0int he had pushed pass me into the laundry and then started YELLING AT ME IN MY FACE shoving the invoice in my face trying to show that someone had written after 3pm on it. I told him I didnt know what he was talking about and I walked away stating this whole thing with him had been a nightmare from the beginning. At this junction I want to explain that this MAN was in MY HOUSE thinking I WAS A WOMAN ALONE. He came into the family area and in a threatening motion stormed in yelling "In fact it was you that said after 3 because you said you started a new job and wouldnt be home until 3 implying I was lying! what????!!! His yelling was threatening and it scared me and my dog.. I corrected him again referring to what he had said a week ago. At this point my 22 year old son walked into the room and looked like what the heck is going on in here, who is this man yelling at my mum!? At first Mike did not see my son, but when he did he immediately stopped yelling and went back into the laundry. Again this abusive rude man thought I was alone in the house. In less than 10 minutes he yelled as he was walking out my front door "Im done, the receipt is on the dryer, empty your vents" letting my door slam shut!!!!! He did not test the unit, he left my laundry a mess from pulling it out and scratching the floor!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS RUDE MAN. HE IS ABUSIVE, A CON MAN AND DANGEROUSLY INSTRUCTS YOU TO LEAVE ELECTRICAL DEVICES IN PUDDLES OF WATER AND INSTRUCTS YOU ON HOW TO SCAM THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY.NOT DOING ANYTHING FOR THE SERVICE FEE. I have had a number of Appliance repair companies come to my house over the years. Mike from Aldo Appliance service is 5 star (out of 5 stars) company. Mike is very knowledgeable in his craft. He came to fix our ice maker. Just talking to him on the phone he knew exactly what to do and what the price of the job would cost. It took him less than 45 minutes to complete this job because he knew exactly what to do (but that comes with his 51 years of experience). Mike showed and explained to me the problem and fix to my problem with the ice maker....not to mention a few good stories. He was also able to save me $100 on the part that I needed for the freezer. These guys were supposed to handle a Home Warranty of America claim for me and gave me a window of time to expect the repair man. A half hour after the window ended, I had to call them to find out that the repairman was delayed and they acted like it was no big deal because "delays happen". I agree, delays do happen and are unavoidable. My problem is that they didn't pick up the phone to tell me they are going to miss the appointment. The office staff was basically incredulous that I should expect service at that level. These guys make customer service at Comcast look good. read more

Mike came to fix my washer, he didn't put the door on correctly and now the front-loader isn't closing properly. I called HWA and they said they would send him back out and I was not to get charged the trade call fee ($100). He walked into my house FOR UNDER 5 minutes and walked back out... I GOT A BILL FROM HWA for $100... for what? What did Mike do? What cost me $100? Mike said he had to order a part.. how can he order a part if he doesn't take down information about my washer? Aldo Appliance was dispatched to our home by Home Warranty of America when our dryer wasn't working. They contacted us 24 hours after I initially filed a claim with HWA online. That part was prompt. When scheduling an appointment, Aldo Appliance told us they would be here on Saturday "in the afternoon." We were not given times. Although, at about 2:00 p.m., right in the middle of the afternoon, the guy called and said he'd arrive in approximately 20 minutes. He arrived on time. He was in and out of our home so quickly that I didn't even get his name! He was courteous enough though. He asked a few questions and seemed to immediately know what the problem was. He was in and out of our home within 10 minutes! Unfortunately, this repair (replacing a fuse) cost us $100, per Home Warranty of America. However, my contract states that it will be $100 for the service call OR the cost of the repair, whichever is cheaper. I don't know anything about dryers, but there's no way that replacing a fuse could have been more than $100. Aldo Appliance arrived on time, solved the problem (with a 30 day warranty on the fuse), and sent a courteous service tech. I might consider using them again, depending on my needs, but I don't want to have to plan my day around them. read more

My apple pie was ready to go in the oven and I realized my Thermadore never warmed up! I called the major appliance repair co's and I was given a date 2 weeks out and 5 weeks out! That would not do, so I went looking for the local mom and pop businesses. I came across Aldo and I was in contact with the owner's wife. Mike showed up 2 days later, on time, and with a 15 min-out call. He was personable and professional. He took care to not damage my cabinets while removing the heavy door and was careful to keep things clean too. He had my Thermadore working within 30 minutes. His cost was less than the fee the others were charging me to come to my house. Now my oven is warming as I type, and my apple pie having waited in the freezer for 2 days in about ready to be baked. If Home Warranty of America sends you to Aldo Appliance, I recommend that you request for another provider. When I spoke with Mike (from Aldo), he seemed pretty angry and I didn't feel comfortable with someone like that coming to my house with my wife and kids. I then read the other yelp reviews, and the reviews confirmed my suspicion. I called Home Warranty of America requesting another provider, and they gave me another one. They sent me to Triangle Appliance (815)-726-8112. The person I spoke with, Chuck, was more personable and gave me a definite time, where I didn't have to call off a whole day of work. I am prefacing this review by stating we did not actually have any work performed by Aldo Appliance, so this is solely based on customer service. Like many other commenters, we have HWA and Aldo Appliance Repair was assigned by HWA to come service our dryer that suddenly stopped working. I went on Yelp and was alarmed by the number of negatve reviews; however, before I could think about requesting another vendor, a rep from Aldo called to set up our appointment. She was very friendly and courteous, but what struck me was that their first available appointment was more than a week away, and she -- on her own accord -- offered that I could check with HWA to see if they had a vendor that could service our dryer sooner. That's what struck me -- it's not often that a business would think so much of the customer that they would essentially turn down work. I did end up working with HWA to find a vendor that could come out 4 days sooner, so I cannot comment on Aldo Appliance Repair's actual work, but I did think it was worth pointing out their kindness in a review. I think of gentle sloshing, but this was more like the L train passing my old house in Chicago. If I could give them 0 stars I would. 1st appointment the repairman could not give a time or even a window (a.m. or p.m.) as to when he was coming, so I had to take the entire day off of work. Then he had to come back to fix the oven, and when he came back he was 3 hours late and they had ordered the wrong part. The 3rd time they were supposed to come out they were 2 hours late, and when I called to see when they were going to come he told me my 3:45 appointment was going to be after 7. Aldo Appliance Repair was assigned my Home Warranty of America claim for the gas smell coming from my oven. The tech came out and replaced the igniter and told me the gas value would also need to be replaced. This was on 11/18/12, after calling Aldo once, 12 days later, they informed me that they were still researching the part. I called Home Warranty of America to inquire as to where this issue stood on 12/1/12. They followed up with Aldo and were told the same thing, researching the part. Then today 12/6/12 Home Warranty called to tell me that the office Representitive of Aldo Appliance stated that the igniter fixed the problem. But if I wanted the gas value replaced (the one the tech told me needs to be replaced) it would cost me $349. In my opinion, I don't think it's possible for the office rep. to diagnosed the problem from his office, since they had never been to my home. read more

Took Aldo 2 full days to show up. He is a nice enough gentleman. I have to tell you that, Aldo is so good he was able to ascertain the cause of the gas leak without having to use one of those meters which tells the technician where and how big the leak is. The ole nose is better than one of them meters -ha! A sponge with some dish soap (thanks for asking me first Aldo) was all the technology necessary to ascertain the problem. After this rigorous inspection, Aldo stood up and declared - The Gas Valve leaking and there were no replacement parts available for a Sears - Kenmore gas range. Aldo is a Jedi master, not only does he perceive the scent of natural gas by means of the olfactory nerves, but he is literally a walking compendium of what parts are available and not available. Why waste time researching the availability of parts - Just call Aldo. - Not. $100 is worth the show, if you have a $100 to waste. Use at your own risk, your mileage may vary. Is there a NEGATIVE star? Hesitated even giving them one star. Horrible, unprofessional, and not worth your time. One of the worst company's that you can have come out and actually 'service' anything for you. Don't bother with the hassle or unprofessionalism, there are plenty of other more reliable appliance contractors out there. Here's my experience: We have a home warranty as we recently moved into our new home. Our dryer was not heating, so we called the Home Warranty of America (HWA) to initiate a claim. They dispatched these individuals at the end of July. MARIO, the individual that came out is a condescending, unprofessional jerk. He had the same attitude in July, but I put up with it on the hopes that he would fix our problem, and I never had to see him again. He was here for about 10 minutes on that day, indicated that all that was wrong was a faulty thermofuse. Nothing related to any valves, wiring, or anything... but clearly was just a band-aid for the issue. Had they done a complete inspection / work up of the issue, they would have come across the fact that something else was wrong, not just the fuse. But that means that the lazy sack of crap MARIO would actually have to work! Plus.. if they have to come back out, its more money in their pocket, so they are actually incentivized to only do the bare minimum on each service request. To no surprise, only 30 days later, we came across the same issues with our dryer. The second time MARIO came out, he was again being condescending, unprofessional, and talking down to me as if I had inconvenienced HIM. After he walked out of our home WITHOUT repairing the problem (he did not like what I had to say about him not fixing our issues the first time, so he simply left!), I had the great displeasure of speaking with his manager - MIKE. Well, it was clear what / who enables the unprofessionalism with their staff. MIKE was as much of a jerk as MARIO. This company should not be in business. I've logged a complaint with HWA to at least have them removed from their approved contractors list, will be communicating via the Better Business Bureau, and any other type of social media outlet in order to ensure that others are not subjected to this level of service. It is no coincidence that a reader has JUST left a review only three days prior to my post complaining about these jerks. HORRIBLE. read more
