If you thought customer service was long gone...well it's alive and well at Allied Builder's Supply in Seaford, NY. Today I went in looking for flat stones for an art project for my grandchildren. Not only did Anthony Albanese/owner accommodate me, he had one of his workers use the forklift to take down a huge container of rocks and let me pick my choice! The workmen even dug through the rocks with me. It does not get any better than that! And that was for an art project. I can only imagine the guidance and work that is offered withmasonry jobs. I like to shop the local businesses whenever I can but Allied reinforced the reason others wind up at the big box stores. I purchased 2 bags of paver sand ($20 each) and realized a few days later that I only needed one, so I returned the other. The sales guy points to the handmade sign on the wall stating ALL returns are charged a 20% restocking fee so it'll cost me $4 to return one bag of sand and for them to walk it to the pallet and throw it on top. After I said "Even on a bag of sand?!" he just pointed over his shoulder and said nothing. So I decided NOT to purchase the other item I was intending to buy and will stop by Lowes/Home Depot tomorrow. "Restocking" charges may be applicable to some large items, but don't screw the customer just to make a buck or to discourage returns---it also discourages repeat purchases. read more

I went to this place allied in seaford on merrick rd right off the 135 seaford oyster bay expressway. They were a huge help. I wanted to try an install a small paver patio in my back yard for my BBQ and table. I stopped by this place a few times , looked at all the selection of paving stones and wall stones , they had very knowledgable guys there. Tony helped me pick out the perfect color stone. My wife asks a ton of questions and they answered them all. They helped me pick the perfect stone and had all of it in stock and delivered the material for $50 , can't beat that !! I tried a few other places but they seemed like amateurs compared to allied In definitely gonna use these guys in the future if I have any other projects I feel like taking on. I wanted to caution everyone of the deplorable customer service @ Allied Builders Supply Corporation. The rude portly shaped worker is a want-to-be goon with no business etiquette or class. Rather, I would highly recommend Oceanville masonry supply for high-touch customer service and reasonable pricing. I wish I had this information before wasting my time and money with Allied Builder. Lastly, I plan to file BBB complaint against Allied Builders Supply Corporation. We've had a project on hold for months because we hadn't been able to find the stones we chose from a catalog, in person. After months of back and forth phone calls, running around the island to different suggested Show Rooms (and no luck,) we stopped in here, and not only did they have the stones we were looking for, they were labeled properly so it was clear. I went to Allied because they are a local supplier to me, however I would prefer to travel an hour plus NOT to deal with them. I went to the store on a Saturday and met with Tony. He stood behind the desk and didn't even walk over to ask me if I needed help. I walked around and since he didn't come to me, I walked over to ask for the price. He showed -0- care in making a sale. (meanwhile I am in need of 3100 sq ft of pavers & the store had no customers). I called the following Wed. to discuss pricing and delivery. Again, not to my surprise but still disappointed, Tony spoke to me in such a rude way. When I asked him if would compete with a competitor price (b.c I am a local customer), he HUNG UP. My advice- don't even bother with them. Try Costanza in Bellmore or Oceanville in Oceanside. Tony and this store are extremely rude and do not deserve your business. read more
