This is a very expensive shoe store with reputable goods and high prices in the very fancy part of River Oaks to the west of downtown Houston. Here you will find typical expensive men's shoes and fancy service and whatnot. I'm an attorney but don't really dress like one... and my wife hates on me for it. I've been a victim of buying $100-150 dress shoes for quite some time now. In fact, my wife hates my shoes so much that she has made it her LIFE GOAL to ruin my life until I burn all of my dress shoes. I'm loyal though so I refused.. until Christmas. For Christmas I got a pair of the black Park Avenue AE shoes. When I unwrapped the gift I admit I had to fake a "Ohhhhh.. coooooll" type of feel because they were.. SHOES. I wanted something else, maybe a cool part for my car lol. But I researched AE and pretty much every AE YouTube video known to man and was intrigued. I came into the store because the size my wife got me was too big. I met Cody. I can't talk more highly about Cody. Super helpful and patient. He walked me through the history of the company and many of the popular shoe models. I came in to get a new size and ended up getting a second pair! 2 days later I came back to purchase 2 more pairs! I met with Cody again, whom I've forced to be my personal salesman, and he was just as helpful as the first time. The store is lucky to have him. For the reviewers who had a bad experience here with service I invite you to call ahead and make an appointment with him. I was tired of buying shoes that would only last about a year before starting to fall apart. I came into the store after doing some research online. Daniel was great in approaching me, and helping me select the shoe that met my needs. When the store didn't have my size in stock, they placed the order for me. I later inquired about when I would receive the shoe, it was going to be about 2 weeks. Without any prompting from myself, Cody called the City Center location, found the right size, and had them ship those shoes to me. Perfect customer service. I have owned Allen Edmonds shoes for decades and have often got them re-crafted. I have found the folks in this store to be very helpful and much more service oriented than what I have seen at any other shoe store. I have gone to this particular store for years now. Measurement is critical when buying Allen Edmunds for several reasons. First, as you age your feet change size. For example, thirty years ago I as a 10 1/2 D and now I am an 11 1/2 E. Second, often feet your feet are not the same size. Third, some of the styles just fit differently. The sales associates know this last part well and can guide you when you pick out that style that may fit a bit differently. AE has a broad range of fitment options as well as sole customization options. Love the fact that AEs are made in America. Also very cool that their factories are churning out surgical masks during the COVID crisis. Can't wait for the store to reopen. In the mean time I am am putting in an order. My husband and I came into Allen Edmonds ready to purchase his 30th birthday gift. However, once customers starting arriving and it got a "little" busy we were ignored. He wanted some coffee colored shoes, but there was a slight defect on one of the shoes. So, they offered him a pair of Copper colored pair to which he declined. So we waited for the gentleman to return so we can go over our options in ordering the coffee colored shoes and he never returned to assist us. He got caught up helping the other customer and ignored us. Not even the available employees approached us if we needed assistance. My husband put all the shoes back in their original boxes and told them "we'll be back another day." Not a chance that we will be back! We are going back to the other location at city center where we should've purchased the shoes, since they're focused more on the customer! read more

For a classy, classic, high-end American shoe company, I expect more out of their retail stores. The particular sales associate who helped me was quite snobby and condescending, and gave me A LOT of undeserved crap (pardon the slang) for 1) not getting my feet perfectly measured by an Allen Edmonds store before buying Allen Edmonds shoes, despite the fact that I know the general vicinity of my shoe size, and 2) because I simply came in so I could try on a few models in the store? Moreover, being the age of 23 with a full-time, pretty-well-paying job in oil & gas, I did not receive the same level of respect and treatment some of the more elderly customers received. I understand--Allen Edmonds is an expensive shoe brand and they were simply playing up the demographics--but I was simply dumbfounded by the fact that I was treated as if I could not afford to buy their shoes based on my younger appearance and age. As classy of a company as Allen Edmonds is, it was shocking to see the conspicuousness of their discrimination (age in this case, and as a fellow reviewer posted below, race as well). I own a few Allen Edmonds shoes myself and am quite impressed with their quality and longevity, but I will NOT be returning to this store nor ANY other Allen Edmonds stores for quite some time (maybe until I look like I'm old enough to afford nice dress shoes?). While I also like the other Houston location, this place offers the best service I have ever had...maybe in my life. Full disclosure: I own about 14 pairs of AE shoes...yes, I have a problem and may need to look for a support group soon. I think I have purchased four pairs from this one location over the past few months & just ordered another today. I usually do not try to dispute others' opinions of locations, but I am surprised by the poor reviews. I have seen men and women that varied in age, gender, orientation, etc. here and see them give everyone the same level of service. In fact, the fist time I stopped in I was wearing Sperry boat shoes (without socks), inexpensive cargo shorts & a plaid shirt...other customers looked at me strange, but not the employees. I even needed to "borrow" socks to try shoes on that day! They know me now and do not stop helping others just because they know I am a "paying" customer. I believe the previous problems were before Daniel became the manager, or at least before he built his current team. Anyway, I hope that those of you that have had a negative experience will consider going back in! I just think these are the BEST shoes ever made and strongly believe that they care about their customers. Oh also, I am not friends with anyone that works there and have no affiliation besides the fact that I am extremely happy with the products and services provided by Allen Edmonds at this location. read more

I love Allen Edmonds. Every time a coworker talks about how they are dissatisfied with their shoes I take the opportunity to tell them that they should try coming here. Aside from providing some of the best service I have ever had in my entire life, they provide a truly quality product. My Dad bought me my first pair when I graduated from college. At the same time, he returned a pair of his shoes, about 20 years old and had them refurbished. When he got them back, they looked fantastic. The leather beautiful. Brought my first pairs of AE shoes the past week. Bought a pair of delray dress shoes. They felt ok when i purchased, but hurt after a day. The customer service at the store was exception. They stretched it out and its fits perfect. I also purchased another pair of the voyager walking shoes. Shoes were not in stock, but the store had them delivered by Fedex before my trip. It is 5:40 pm and I just left the Allen Edmonds store. When I entered the store I saw two white women and neither of them greeted me, but when two white men came in a couple minutes apart, both were greeted immediately. I'm not saying they are racist but they should be consistent with their greeting. I am highly disappointed with these two employees. read more

I have visited this store four times between November 2015 to January 2016. Daniel, the manager, is the only one who provides good customer service here. Everyone else I've dealt with is a snob. I have three pairs of Allen Edmonds. It's unfortunate the service sucks because the shoes are high quality.
