I hired AWS Solar to install solar panels on my home In May 2026. They completed the job a few…read moreweeks later. They did a very good jod. I am pleased. However, upon completeing the job, the project manager Tim Broughton called me, helped me log on to the Enphase app so that I could monitor the panels. After I confirmed that I was logged in, I was told that I was up and running And they were done. I was happy thinking I was now running on the sun. Wrong. So very wrong. I received my electric bill and astonished to see the electric portion was over $800.00. I called the power company and was told that the $130.00 application fee had not been paid. I notified Mr. Broughton and he immediatley saw that the bill for the application fee was paid and apologized for the error. Now the fun begins. I called the power company and asked when they would be out to install the proper meter for solar panels. I was informed that no application for a meter to be installed was on file and that I had to submit an application for interconnection. Hmm? No one mentioned anything to me about completing and application or that I had to contact the power company. I completed the PTO (Permission to Operate) form and based on the questions being asked and the information I needed to provide leads me to believe the Solar company was responsible for completing this form and sending the required fee. Ok. Lets not look to for someone to blame, lets just get the proper meter installed. I completed the PTO and submitted it. The power company came out a couple of weeks later and installed the a new meter. Onlyit was not a meter for solar panels. They installed the same new meter but it was the same meter as the meter I already had. I asked them why they didn't put on a solar meter and I was told that I needed to submit a PTO for a SOLAR METER, which is different. And by the way, they have a special person that installs solar meters and a special person to install regular meters. This seemed rather stupid to me. I ask the power comapany rep for the contact info for the solar department and he told he didn't know. I won't name the power company. LADwp. The one good thing the DWP rep did upon arriving to his office was to send an email to contact the proper department at the power company. I assumed he would have just gone about his business and let me flounder. I started on the second application which asked for job site photos. This was to me another indication that the solar installer was suppose to complete this form because Joe Citizen would not know what photos they were required. I did observe that periodically, the workers would take photos, but none were ever sent to me. Now I'm in the middle of August 2026 with fingers, legs, arms, eyes and anything else, maybe the dogs and cats, crossed hoping that this time I will get a meter. The bottom line is I would still recommend AWS SOLAR to anyone, but I'd have to caution them to make sure they get you connected and ALL fees are paid. Because I was dealing with the City of LA and being constantly sent to voice mail and waiting for call backs, this experience was horrendous.

The 4th year production shows improvement over the 3rd year as I kept the panels clean. However,…read moreit's still about 4.8% below the minimum guaranteed production (accounting 0.25% maximum annual panel degradation). It's 4 year in a row now the system failed to produce the minimum guaranteed production. AWS Solar chose to compensate for the shortfall again; we'll see what the 5th year production looks like. I suggested replacing some of the panels with the higher power ones to solve the issue, but I guess they want to see more data.

I really appreciate the direct accountability and quick resolution. I'm leaving my original review below for transparency, but their prompt response today restored my confidence in their management. I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

Hopefully they continue to be just as great down the line if we ever need any work or service done.

A LOVE LETTER TO DLS DEVELOPMENT: Your company operated with such a level of professionalism and respect that it deserves nothing less than the highest praises and the best publicity. I can't thank you enough for the stellar work your crew produced under less-than-ideal conditions (the heat last week was crazy). Your workers took special care to protect my property and they cleaned up the work site EVERY DAY before leaving. They were all very amiable and professional and I hope I adequately conveyed to them how much I appreciated their work and their attitudes. Spencer from DLS Development gave a great pitch, plus the quote was one of the lowest we received from almost all roofing companies. They reached out over a month later to check in and offer an additional discount. Pros: The workers did an excellent job and worked from nearly sunup to sundown. They had a few questions, which I could answer (or get my husband to answer) when I was around. It took about 4 days for them to tear off the old shingles and install the new ones. And it was hot out there! They did the work quickly, professionally, and efficiently! One of the crew members performed a walk-through with my husband once they finished, and my husband was very pleased with the finished product. I feel very grateful looking at my roof now, since the old one was very old. Cons Once we signed the contract and paid the initial deposit, we were told that the permit for our house needed to be pulled and that it would take about a week. Almost two weeks later, I asked the project manager if she had pulled the permit and when the project could begin. She then let me know the roofers would begin the following week. I guess I hoped that the project manager would have reached out to me first to let me know that the permit situation was complete and that they would begin the roofing process. You need to take initiative and find out what's happening, since I've never had a roof replaced before. Next, the project manager informed us they discovered and replaced rotted wood. The project manager sent us a change order for the additional amount, yet the contract did not list any extra charge for rotted wood. Additionally, they had already replaced the "rotted wood" before we signed anything, and they had no clear photos showing any rotted wood. It took a lot of emails and texts back and forth before we reached a resolution we were happy with. Still, it was a headache and frustrating for several days; we had to deal with uncertainty and explanations. Finally, the project manager never confirmed when the inspector for the last inspection would actually come to our house to collect my signature on a form. We didn't know whether we needed to be at home, leave the document out somewhere, or when the process would officially end. I received an email from the project manager asking me to reply and attach the form with my signature, as the inspector had come around but could not collect it because I was not there. I replied to the email with the form and asked the project manager if I needed to do anything else. Only when I reached out again to the general DLS development general email was I told what day the inspector would come around again to collect the form. We're thrilled with the roof and the quality of work, but it would've been less of a headache to have a lot of this information up front without having to keep asking, since I'm unfamiliar with the roof process. I also had to email the general DLS development email, as the project manager was not responding to some questions and concerns as quickly as I would've liked. I know she probably had a million things going on, but it felt like I got a response much quicker once I emailed through the general company email. This was not a cheap project, and I feel like this company lacks clear communication, but their workers and work are absolutely outstanding.

Update: The company's response below speaks for itself. I find its tone defensive, unprofessional,…read moreand threatening. After I described my own experience in my first review, the company sent me an unwanted private message through Yelp asking me to remove my review. Then Yelp removed my review. Now that I wrote about my direct experience with them after receiving their private message through Yelp - It has now publicly characterized my statements as "unfounded claims,", and instructed me to "refrain" from making them. I view this pattern of conduct, including the unwanted private Yelp message and the language in the company's public response, as an attempt to pressure and intimidate me into stopping me from sharing my experience. Both of my reviews describe my truthful experiences, observations, opinions, and impressions. My original review clearly stated that the recruiting email came from a third party referencing LA Solar Group and the CEO. I did not state that LA Solar Group itself sent that email. I have already asked LA Solar Group to cease contacting me. I do not consent to further private communications regarding my reviews. I stand by my reviews and strongly suggest that the company have its counsel review their actual language before publicly and falsely accusing me of making "unfounded claims." I am preserving all communications and responses and reserve all rights and remedies available to me. I also reserve the right to expand my review to other platforms, including my own blog, particularly in light of the company's accusatory and threatening response and its characterization of my statements in a manner I believe is completely false and misleading. Any further public discussion by me will remain based on my documented experiences, the company's own communications, and my opinions and impressions. As already stated in my response to your unwanted and unsolicited private message, as well as in my review, refrain from contacting me further, whether through private messages, public responses to my reviews, or any other direct or indirect communication concerning my reviews. If this unwanted contact continues even one more time, I will document it, immediately involve counsel, file a police report, seek a restraining order if legally appropriate, and pursue any other legal remedies available to me. Original Review: LA Solar Group sent me an unsolicited private message through Yelp asking me to remove my review after I shared my truthful experience regarding an unsolicited recruiting email I received at 4:01 a.m. Yelp then removed my first review on the stated basis that I was not a customer. I believe LA Solar Group contacted Yelp regarding that review. I consider the unsolicited private message through Yelp asking me to remove my review to be unwanted contact and an attempt to pressure me into removing criticism of the company based on my experience. This second review is due to the direct unwanted Yelp communication I personally received from the company. I have asked LA Solar Group to cease contacting me. I am preserving all communications and reserve the right to involve Yelp, appropriate authorities, and pursue any legal remedies available to me if further any unwanted contact - and what I view as silencing attempts - occurs.

Buyers beware. If you're considering doing business with this company, I strongly recommend reading…read morethe contract very carefully and getting clarification on every single term before signing anything. I was presented with a contract involving a 25-year commitment, and after reviewing it, I had a long list of questions because I found information that appeared to be missing, unclear, or contradictory. These were not minor questions, they were important details that could affect us financially over the life of the agreement. I sent my questions directly to Levon Juni, Vice President of the company, expecting that someone in leadership would take the time to address them. His response was that he didn't have time to answer all of my questions. That response was extremely concerning to me. When you are asking a customer to commit to a 25-year agreement, I believe there should be transparency and enough time to explain the terms and address reasonable questions before expecting someone to sign. My advice to anyone considering this company: slow down, read everything, ask questions, and don't feel pressured to sign until you completely understand what you're agreeing to. If something in the contract is unclear or contradictory, get it explained in writing before moving forward. For me, the lack of clarity and the unwillingness to fully address my questions were major red flags. A 25-year commitment is a serious financial decision, and homeowners deserve clear answers before signing on the dotted line.
