I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

By the end of the day I understood he got all of these five start reviews because he is extremely detail-oriented, works cleanly, is prepared and, okay, because he's personable and smart. He was with Chris today and Chris was all over it, too. They laid out protective paper on just about every surface they touched and kept dust to a minimum with careful vacuum coordination. This job for us today needed someone who could really pay attention to the details of spacing and leveling and being appropriately mindful of about 4K worth of semi-delicate fixtures. It was really done flawlessly and, not for nothin', we are kinda whiny perfectionists.

To paint a picture, we were looking for someone to hang a chandelier over our dining area where there are already some existing recess lights. All electricians I spoke with (and there were more than a dozen) stated we needed to do lots of drywall and painting work to hand the chandelier. Blake was one of the only ones who said we didn't and have us a detailed written summary of what he would do. He is simply amazing, super talented and uses the most cutting edge tools. Even once you find a handful of companies with good ratings, if you have a smaller job/project, others can become unresponsive after initial requests and waste your time. But Sun Craftsmen were great. Their tech Luis came out almost same day, figured out a good solution and had a reasonable quote soon after. Before conducting a site inspection, they required me to sign a contract and pay a $500 deposit. After completing the site plan, they informed me that a panel upgrade was necessary and that the battery would need to be installed in an inconvenient location. These changes increased the project cost by an additional $3,700, bringing the total well above the original quote. I was surprised by such a significant price increase and decided to cancel the project. I then requested a refund of my $500 deposit. It took nearly two months and more than ten phone calls before I finally received an answer. At that point, I was told that the deposit was nonrefundable because I had signed the contract. I find it unreasonable that Solar Optimum required a signed contract and deposit before conducting a proper site assessment, then substantially increased the price afterward and refused to refund the deposit when I chose not to proceed. In my view, a thorough site inspection should have been completed before providing a quote and requiring a commitment from the customer. Based on my experience, I would advise potential customers to carefully review the contract terms and understand the refund policy before signing.

We paid this company twice. 1st after the inspection was done, and another after they installed the new inverter for us. We paid what the technician told us was owed on the spot after they did their work. Over 6 months later, we get a call from them stating we did not pay the required installation cost. We paid what the technician told us to pay on the spot, same day they finished the install, before they left our property. Now they are saying we owe them more money. STAY AWAY Unless you want to get a collections call months later!
