    Black/Fruit Cake

If I could give no stars This is the worse bakery ever. They think just because they have been around for a long time that they can treat the community however they want. There's no way to even contact by phone because the phone either rings out or they answer quickly place you on hold, and make it so you wait so long the phone just hangs up. With all of that my mother still wanted her birthday cake from Allan's because the the nostalgia only for me to go and get the cake early morning and by the time I got home it fell into itself! I paid $70 for a cake that clearly wasn't ready. It literally folded into itself and when I called trying to call I couldn't get ahold of them. Do better! You don't deserve to be in service with the way you treat the community that made you famous!

    Red Velvet Cake Slice

This review is based solely on the red velvet slice. Came here with family for a quick dessert after dinner. I opted for the red velvet since it's my favorite cake. When I got home and took a bite I wish I had gotten two. SO moist and delicious. It's the most moist and fresh slice of cake I think I've ever had. My mother in law got some cheesecake and she loved it too, she said it was super light and fluffy. If you come here - try a slice of cake. Absolutely delicious.

    Dry flavorless bread.

Ordered the soft white bread, currant and coconut rolls via Door Dash because I was not in the mood to bake. My order arrived quickly. The rolls were delicious. They were sweet and moist but the bread was dry and tasted stale, definitely was not freshly baked bread! Doubt I'd return for the bread but would return for the rolls. Very disappointed with the bread!

I had the opportunity to sample Allan's Bakery at an event and cannot recommend it more! The Codfish Balls were tasty, with a crisp fried layer shelling a lot of filling. If you don't like fish, you won't like this as the flavor is strong. The Codfish Patties however, were much more mild and included vegetable filling. The meat patties were the best in my opinion, with even flaky crust (although I wish they had more filling). I had never had Fruit/Black Cake prior to this, but I LOVED it. It was rich, yet not overly sweet, dense/moist but did crumble a little messily when sliced. I would come back here and recommend to anyone needing some light snacks that will be definitely be crowdpleasers.

I was at an event this past week at the Little Carribean and they had the best snacks I've ever had in a long time. They had served beef, chicken patties and little Barbacalao bites that were super delicious. Even their vegetable patties tasted good and I don't like vegetables. I think a box of these would make a fantastic gift for Christmas or something to bring at a Christmas party if you don't want to cook. Everyone would definitely enjoy it!

Friendly neighborhood bakery with passionate staff, great black cake. Sure was delicious and moist. Was looking for rum cake but fed my cravings with the succulent black cake.

Had to stop by this bakery after lunch this afternoon. My friend and I bought currant rolls here. They are $2.50 a piece which is a decent price. I love those currant rolls. My friend bought coconut rolls too which I will have to try next time. There wasn't much of a line today but usually there is so come early. The service was good. The ambiance is comforting... there were so many baked goods to choose from. I'll definitely be coming back for more currant rolls next time I'm in the area. They only accept cash as payment so make sure to bring some.

A well know Caribbean staple located on nostrand serving delicious baked goods and island inspired eats. Although I've passed by this place too many times to count, the long lines always steered me away. However, I decided to stop by on a Friday morning at 8am before work and was lucky to only have 2 people ahead of me. I recommend knowing exactly what you wanna order before going because there's sooo many options and no one has time to wait while you decide at the counter. I obviously had to order their currant roll which is what they're mostly known for. I've never had one before and this might be my latest obsession. The crunch of the dough, the light tartness off the currant, and the sweetness of the cinnamon sugar was the perfect combo. I also got the codfish balls which were tasty and a veggie patty which I didn't care for. The bakery is cash only so come prepared or use the atm on site. Most items are under $5 tho so unless you plan to order one of everything, a twenty is usually more than enough. This is a take out spot only although I know they opened some sort of bar next door? So not sure what they have going on over there. Def worth stopping by!

Bake and Codfish Sandwich (Bake & Saltfish)

Now y'all know I love supporting local businesses and especially love supporting all things Caribbean. For this reason, Allan's is usually my go to for a good codfish and bakes sandwich. Usually the sandwich is stuffed with codfish but not this past Saturday. Maybe the cook forgot how we do it. It had barely any codfish. The bake was bit dark, too. Since I have usually had a good experience in the past, I'll try it again in hopes that it was just a bad day. As far as taste, that too, was off. It truly needed some salt and pepper.

02/18/23: Home of the current roll. One of the best ways to satisfy your sweet tooth. Allan's current roll is so moist, sweet without being overly sweet, and flaky crust all are perfect combo for each delicious bite! Their chicken patty is ok, not my favorite. But people, can we talk about their doubles. Pure deliciousness, a bit on the greasy side but awesomeness is each bite. I had the shrimp, well seasoned and totally tasty. Will always return for the current rolls and doubles.

Cute outdoor space, indoor space is also open air

I've heard about this institution of a bakery for the longest time from my Brooklyn friends, and finally got to visit! While they don't offer any gluten-free offerings at the bakery, it doesn't mean that they now don't have an adorable spot (and event space with an amazing DJ if you're into Soca!) for drinks for us to hang out at, with a small food menu where they can do a couple items gluten-free in case you're craving a bite. We got here after an early brunch to start our day drinking early before the party got started ( they were setting up for a private event), and waitress was super nice, the space was cute and Instagramable, and the drinks were stroooooong, though a bit on the pricy side. Sadly, I could not review their famous, delicious pastries, but what I can see from everyone else's reactions, they look amazing, the price is right (if you head to the bakery, ordering it at the table will include quite the surcharge) and totally worth a try!

The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Radio Bakery... is perfection. I completely understand the line…read more I first ordered the heirloom tomato & feta sandwich, which was unbelievable. It is so clear that they use incredibly high-quality ingredients and carefully curate each component, which is exactly why everything comes together in such an elevated way. The tomatoes reminded me of the ones I grew in my garden during California summers as a teenager. Perfectly salted, layered over soft, not-too-tart feta. The focaccia was made with beautiful olive oil and, while a bit chewier than I usually prefer, gave the sandwich a satisfying bite. I had to close my eyes while eating it just to savor it. The chocolate cherry almond croissant... wow. Such a creative combination, and it did not disappoint. Soft, buttery, and filled with a sour cherry compote that reminded me of a cherry cordial from a box of chocolates. 5/5. Hainsley, who helped me, was exceptionally lovely. Everyone even in line was very nice, the vibes were awesome. I'll definitely be back to try the spicy tofu sandwich and the heirloom tomato tart!
