I've been dealing with horrific brake squeals and sounds…read moreever since I had new rear drum brakes installed about 8-9 months ago by a different mechanic. I've taken it to several places who couldn't figure out the issue and quoted $700-$800 dollars for all new drum brakes. I didn't want to drop that kind of money since the current drum brakes are virtually brand new. Ace Steering and Brake Service called me and told me they figured out the issue and that it was only going to cost around $150 to fix. They essentially warrantied out the parts for me even though they weren't the ones to do the initial brake job, and I can't express how much I'll forever be grateful to them for showing me that kindness - since I'm unexpectedly unemployed as of last week so money is tight. I went to Performance for a second opinion after a dealer's shop (which I had used for over 10…read moreyears) told my wife that her 9 year old SUV needed 4 new struts and 4 new tires for $3,200! Remember, this shop had done all scheduled maintenance, including oil changes for 9 years (and put new tires on less than 4 years ago). Performance did a complete inspection of the SUV, and determined the struts were fine, and the tires good for 5,000 miles! Their report included pictures and measurements, which I appreciate. They'll be getting all my non-dealer-required work for both my vehicles ftom here on out.
