I have traded with Discount Tire professionally, as an auto shop manager, and as a client. In both cases, they get the job done, and go the extra mile for their patrons. I had a blowout last night, heading home to Olathe. Today, when I came back to Lawrence for work, I was told the tires I preferred, would not be available until the following day. Zack got with their supplier, got them ordered, and delivered, same day. Much to my surprise, they got me worked in, replaced my aging TPMS sensors, replace the tires, and performed an alignment. All in less than one hour! Lawrence has several options for tire service, and many good options at that. But consistency with each visit, and knowledge and empathy from the front staff can make all the difference when making a decision. He said, "They can fix it in 10 minutes and it will cost you about $16." Yeah, right. So I headed Westside 66 and kept my fingers crossed. The cashier told me to pull around back and they would look at the tire. Honestly, within ten minutes... the tire was fixed and it cost $16. I could not believe my good luck on finding this place. The mechanic who worked on my tire was nice, professional and he knew exactly what to do to get me fixed. He did not waste time with small talk and he got me right on my way. The cashier was very nice and courteous. She, too, was professional and very helpful. I appreciate her guidance. I asked her if they had been busy and she said it was a slow day for them. As I was leaving work yesterday, I could hear a rhythmic "thuk thuk thuk" as I drove down the ramp of my work parking garage. I thought it might have been a rock embedded in the tread of my tire, but when I pulled over to investigate I instead found half an inch of a bolt sticking out of the center of my tread. I called D&D because I've had good experience with them in the past, and I asked if they would be open if I could get my car to them in the next 40 minutes. They let met know that they would be open for another hour, and that if I could get the car to them, they could patch me up. After a quick tire change, I was on the road, and made it in their door 20 minutes before closing. They took my keys, pulled my car in, and went right to work. They extracted the bolt, and let me know that it looked like it probably was broken off of another person's car, but that they could apply the plug and patch that would take care of the hole. A few minutes later, they let me know that it was all done and I was ready to go. Not only did they take care of plugging the tire that I had been transporting in my trunk, but they also replaced it on the vehicle, and put away my donut spare and the tray with the scissor-jack. All told, I was finished and back on the road as if I never had a tire puncture in under 20 minutes for less than $20. I am very thankful to D&D, not only because they patched up my tire in small emergency, but that they fit me in to a small window just before closing time, and took care of me as a customer. Incidentally, I had bought these tires from D&D about a month ago, and I had very good service then and have been very happy with the work. I had not yet written a review about that service, but that work on my tires (and at a reasonable price for four quality tires, mounted and balanced, as well as a brake job that took care of a longstanding issue with a warped rotor) coupled with this excellent service for a puncture has elevated D&D up to a level of greatness in my opinion. Had to schedule a few days out because it was late on Friday and Monday was booked. They got it on the lift on Tuesday (and even let me look at it) and told me that the only problem with my car was my tire (among another issue that wasn't immediate) and they don't even sell tires or tire service directly. I later asked them if I needed to address the problems the other place was trying to charge me for and they weren't convinced those problems were worth addressing immediately. The reason I write is, I believe the service they did was solely out of building a trusting relationship with me and future clients and I know that's hard to find in an auto repair shop.

Brought my car in for brakes and knew it needed more work than that; turns out it was rotors. I've taken it two other places and they couldn't find the reason for the noise. Randy identified it from my inept description. But wait it gets better; after dropping my car off one evening he called me the next morning and described the brakes work and additional work which would fix the noise I was hearing. He quoted everything extremely accurately for a job that had a lot of unknowns and didn't do any work until he talked to me and I gave the go ahead. On top of that he had it all done within ~24hours. How many times have you been slipped an oil change or headlight cleaning that you didn't ask for? And the work is done and you're stuck with an extra $50-100. Not here. He was open about the risks, price, and work both for the work I asked for and for things to look out for in the future. Went above and beyond rotating tires. He never created false urgency or inflated the amount of work he was doing. He explained it like the expert they are there and then dumbed it down to terms I could understand when I asked.
