Great place to take a vehicle. My only complaint is that it takes forever for them to get to your car. I would return.

However, after having my auto serviced yesterday, I feel like a part of their family! This is truly the best automotive business in which to take your auto. You will most likely be greeted by Paige upon entering. She is professional and extremely kind and knowledgeable. Paige sent quotes to me before I took my auto in, she's awesome! I had planned on reading for 4-5 hours while waiting for my auto. Paige spoke with Micah (owner) and he went to warm up his truck to take me home. That was unexpected, appreciated and over the top customer service! I had a list from the dealership in KC of everything that needed to be done for maintenance. The pricing was SO much better with Garber, but in addition, they told me several of the items on the list did NOT need attention. Micah could have ripped me off and charged me to do some things that didn't need to be done. I have such peace of mind now that I found a place that I trust to maintain my auto!! I was hesitant to write this review because I know it could help to increase their business and when I need an appt I may have to wait.....but there's nothing like finding that local, family business which takes perfect care of their customers, I had to share and will take my chances of getting in to Garber!! This business should be at the top of your list!

Called half a dozen local shops about replacing a stolen catalytic converter. Went with Harris…read morebecause their quote was very reasonable, but mostly because instead of rattling off a number, they talked to me about what would drive the price and how to make the job less expensive. They wound up replacing the cat at an excellent price, and even fabricated a custom cage to protect it from future theft. Excellent, excellent service. My only criticism would be that the work took a while, but that's a very minor thing--they warned me in advance that they were backed up, and accurately predicted how long the job would take. Everyone I talked to there was smart, friendly, and helpful. The job was well done and inexpensive for what they did. Highly recommended.

My truck was blowing hot, and I assumed I had a ac line leak. They told me there wasn't a leak, just the control panel needing replaced. They charged $350 to do this, and when I got the truck back it didn't blow at all. They continued by putting 3 or 4 new control panels in, and in the end said they finally fixed it, but now there was a leak and needed another $530 to fix it. I ONLY agreed to continue because they confirmed the truck was blowing properly now. I took it home and it's not blowing at all again. I went in today and they now say it's likely not the control panel at all, but they only agreed to refund $335 dollars or leave the truck with them again after being argumentative and treating me like an idiot. My issue is simply the fact they tried the control panel multiple times, never fixed the blowing issue, lied and said they did so I'd spend another $530 to fix the leak, and now they say it's not the control panel at all. Such a scam. Stay away!!!

The result was a car with a nice body, but a bad engine and transmission. Fortunately, I found Tim at A-1. Despite some health issues on my end, he followed through sourcing a new(to me, but old) block, all of the machining and subsequent rebuilding, transmission overhaul and reassembly of the car. His shop may not look the best, but the work is top notch. I can't recommend A-1 stronly enough, especially if you have a classic car.

The transmission overhaul cost over $700 and that was just his labor and parts, he did not even put the vehicle on his lift and take the trans out to perform the overhaul. Once the transmission was reinstalled and the vehicle was back on the road the transmission made more noise than before. The truck was taken back and he mentioned it was noisy and that he could not hear well enough to diagnose it so more money and repairs were done. Once the time came to do another test drive he proceeded to say that there is nothing wrong with his work that "this transmission" is noisy by design. Interesting that the trans before his repair made less noise. Last a good friend of mine went with me in case I needed a ride if the truck was to be kept until later in the day. My friend and Tim small talked about cars and during the test ride Tim said "Your friend seems to know everything, why didn't he fix it?" So everyone Mike is not trustworthy, credible or a person of integrity.

Brought my car in for brakes and knew it needed more work than that; turns out it was rotors. I've taken it two other places and they couldn't find the reason for the noise. Randy identified it from my inept description. But wait it gets better; after dropping my car off one evening he called me the next morning and described the brakes work and additional work which would fix the noise I was hearing. He quoted everything extremely accurately for a job that had a lot of unknowns and didn't do any work until he talked to me and I gave the go ahead. On top of that he had it all done within ~24hours. How many times have you been slipped an oil change or headlight cleaning that you didn't ask for? And the work is done and you're stuck with an extra $50-100. Not here. He was open about the risks, price, and work both for the work I asked for and for things to look out for in the future. Went above and beyond rotating tires. He never created false urgency or inflated the amount of work he was doing. He explained it like the expert they are there and then dumbed it down to terms I could understand when I asked. Moved to the area a couple months ago and I definitely found my mechanic! Won't be dreading my next visit, thus more likely to get ahead of car issues should they arise. Thanks Randy!
