However, after having my auto serviced yesterday, I feel like a part of their family! This is truly the best automotive business in which to take your auto. You will most likely be greeted by Paige upon entering. She is professional and extremely kind and knowledgeable. Paige sent quotes to me before I took my auto in, she's awesome! I had planned on reading for 4-5 hours while waiting for my auto. Paige spoke with Micah (owner) and he went to warm up his truck to take me home. That was unexpected, appreciated and over the top customer service! I had a list from the dealership in KC of everything that needed to be done for maintenance. The pricing was SO much better with Garber, but in addition, they told me several of the items on the list did NOT need attention. Micah could have ripped me off and charged me to do some things that didn't need to be done. I have such peace of mind now that I found a place that I trust to maintain my auto!! I was hesitant to write this review because I know it could help to increase their business and when I need an appt I may have to wait.....but there's nothing like finding that local, family business which takes perfect care of their customers, I had to share and will take my chances of getting in to Garber!! This business should be at the top of your list!

Dale and Ron's Auto Service

I learned about Dale and Ron's from my Grandfather who has been taking his cars to Rick for over 15…read moreyears. He has had nothing but good things to say about Rick, and the business that he runs over at Dale and Ron's. So, when I needed work done on my car, my Granddad gratefully headed over to Dale and Ron's to talk with Rick about what we could do. This was about 4 years ago. Since that time, I have been to see Rick multiple times, for a variety of reasons. Every time I go in, he greets me with a smile on his face, and a shake of the oil soaked hand. I have to admit, Rick is a bit old fashioned when it comes to his office. The office is small, and lacks one thing that most people just assume come with any office now a days. Rick doesn't use a computer. Shocking I know. Some how he makes it work though. You have to be sure to give him a call, and he writes everything down in a notebook that he keeps on his desk. So, to the reason I am writing this today. I have recently purchased a new car, well recently being a year ago, and have yet to take it in for any kind f service. Lately there have been some funny things happening to it, so without going into detail, I'll just say that I needed to take it in. I have learned over the course of time not to take a car into the dealer, unless it is absolutely necessary. However, there in lies the problem. I now drive a Saab, and for any of you who know anything about the darn machines should know that they are virtually impossible to get work done on them. To make a complicated story short, Saab was bought by Saturn which went out of business a few years ago, so now its extremely difficult to get parts. Additionally, those Swedes went against the grain when designing their car, cause no one knows how to work on them. All of this being said, I called up Rick and explained the situation and he told me to drop it off the next morning and he would do everything in his power to get it fixed. I showed up this morning around 8:15 AM to drop the car off, and there was Rick with a cup of coffee and a smiling face. He greeted me by name, asked for the key, and with a shake of the hand told me he would give me a call by this afternoon. Now, for the shop. It is a bit out of the way to be honest. You have to drive past Mass, and down into the old part of Lawrence. If you didnt know it was there, you wouldnt find it. You have to hop onto Connecticut and then follow it until you hit 8th and see the "dead end" sign. Its a quaint building, with cars parked all around the place, waiting either to be looked at, or picked up. The man has a great reputation, as evident by the number of cars that pack the place every time I happen by. In the past, when taking my car over to Dale and Ron's I have gotten reasonable and accurate quotes. Rick has definitely helped me out of a pickle or two in the past. If you're needing some work done on your mode of transportation, give Dale and Ron's a call and set up an appointment to drop it off. Its hard to find a good mechanic, 15 years of loyalty on the part of my grandfather speaks for itself.

Me and some guys were trying to figure out what the issue was for almost two weeks. They had it for two days, got the problem figured out, got my starter relay replaced the next day, and fixed my window buttons without even charging me for them. As long as I live in Lawrence, I'm taking my car here whenever I need a fix. 100% recommend!

I brought my car in for an oil change after my cross-country move to Lawrence a month or so ago. When I was leaving, I told them they could look it over to see if any other work needed to be done and that, if the air filter looked bad, I'd be more than willing to replace it. I mentioned that specifically because we replaced it about a month ago. They said our air filter looked brand new and that everything else was totally in order (we got the car souped up, $600 with my old mechanic, right before the trip so this doesn't surprise me at all). Test passed!! Oil change for my Chevy sonic was ~$60. They don't have an area to wait or anything which is no big deal if you can have someone take you somewhere else (like a coffee place on Mass) or walk yourself (it's less than a mile). It's not the best area to walk through because of the high traffic. I understand that because they are so small a sitting room might seem silly. They also really liked having a lot of time (like a few hours for an oil change scheduled days in advance) so you wouldn't want to sit their anyways. Their parking lot is difficult to navigate because they have so many cars just kind of there. I think I don't understand why because I'm not a car person. All I know is, I was terrified of hitting something because they are so close together. Basically, cosmetic/convenience issues but a mechanic with integrity will always get at least 4 from me because they can be so hard to come by.

They wound up replacing the cat at an excellent price, and even fabricated a custom cage to protect it from future theft. Excellent, excellent service. My only criticism would be that the work took a while, but that's a very minor thing--they warned me in advance that they were backed up, and accurately predicted how long the job would take. Everyone I talked to there was smart, friendly, and helpful. The job was well done and inexpensive for what they did. Highly recommended.

My truck was blowing hot, and I assumed I had a ac line leak. They told me there wasn't a leak, just the control panel needing replaced. They charged $350 to do this, and when I got the truck back it didn't blow at all. They continued by putting 3 or 4 new control panels in, and in the end said they finally fixed it, but now there was a leak and needed another $530 to fix it. I ONLY agreed to continue because they confirmed the truck was blowing properly now. I took it home and it's not blowing at all again. I went in today and they now say it's likely not the control panel at all, but they only agreed to refund $335 dollars or leave the truck with them again after being argumentative and treating me like an idiot. My issue is simply the fact they tried the control panel multiple times, never fixed the blowing issue, lied and said they did so I'd spend another $530 to fix the leak, and now they say it's not the control panel at all. Such a scam. Stay away!!!

My car entered Don's Auto Center on January with a stalling issue. It is now June, and after they charged me $2,529.47 and installed three separate fuel pumps, my vehicle is in the exact same inoperable state it was in five months ago. They were about to install a fourth consecutive pump onto the car rather than admitting they couldn't properly diagnose the underlying issue. Enough is Enough. Their business practices are completely untrustworthy. On one of the stalling occasion, my check engine light came back on immediately after a "repair." I scanned it myself and found the exact same fuel pump codes. When I brought it back, the technician pulled up a circuit code and explicitly asked the manager, Joe, if he should clear the code (turn the check engine light off.) Joe told him yes. They completely gaslit me, claiming the light was just because my gas was low. I left, filled the tank, and the car violently stalled out in 4:00 PM traffic less than 20 minutes later, leaving me stranded and shaking while cars honked and swerved to avoid hitting me. As a woman, dealing with this establishment has been a nightmare. The gaslighting, the flat out dishonesty, the lack of responses when emailing or texting when I'm just trying to figure out what's going on with your vehicle is unsettling. How many fuel pumps should I allow them to put on my car? This fourth fuel pump was the last one in the world and then they were obsolete as what I was told. I asked them OK so if this one doesn't work then what? They said to take it up with GM dealer. Instead or admitting they were stumped and offering a refund, the General Manager, Ricky, officially banned me from the property, canceled my warranty, and refused to pay for a $105 out-of-pocket towing fee caused directly by their failed repair. When I safely removed my property from their lot and attempted to voice my experience, the GM immediately sent me aggressive legal threats via email to intimidate me into silence. I am refusing to be bullied. They took $2,529.47 of my money for a repair they could not successfully complete. Avoid this shop at all costs unless you want your time wasted, your money taken, and your safety put at risk. Everything I've said, I have actual proof and receipts of. If they respond in any kind of way to try to discredit it what I'm saying it's all a lie.
