I've always have had outstanding service at the Lawrence location. For that matter, I've traded at multiple locations, with Discount Tire and have no complaints anywhere. The Lawrence store seems to take it to a different level. They are fair, keep you informed of progress and as we say in the service industry, under promise and over deliver. Now, a new service... they will also perform a 4-wheel alignment at a very reasonable price. Always in your best interest to get an alignment with new tires, to help protect your investment. I worked in the automotive industry as a service manager for many years, and can say without a doubt, their prices and service equal or exceed their competition. I have traded with Discount Tire professionally, as an auto shop manager, and as a client. In both cases, they get the job done, and go the extra mile for their patrons. I had a blowout last night, heading home to Olathe. Today, when I came back to Lawrence for work, I was told the tires I preferred, would not be available until the following day. Zack got with their supplier, got them ordered, and delivered, same day. Much to my surprise, they got me worked in, replaced my aging TPMS sensors, replace the tires, and performed an alignment. All in less than one hour! Lawrence has several options for tire service, and many good options at that. But consistency with each visit, and knowledge and empathy from the front staff can make all the difference when making a decision. can you get a tire plugged. They left my husband waiting in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours on his only day off without mentioning that they had already done the tire. I had to call and ask if it was done. This is the most unprofessional. They never once came out and called out either of our names on the service report. Gotta love class and hospitality of middle America. These guys are great. My daughter graduated UCB and was driving to the east coast for Christmas by herself. She got a low tire air pressure alarm halfway through Kansas. She was able to limp into to Lawrence that night and the next morning she stopped at Discount Tire early. The guys checked and leveled all her tire air pressures first thing and then evaluated the culprit tire to determine that it was healthy just needed a little air due to temp/altitude. I had an appointment but never got my car into the garage. I left due to their sales tactics, all they want to do is sell you a new set of tires. If that's not why you are there, you should save time and go somewhere else. I ended up going to Big O and got a complete set of tires AND alignment for less than just the tires at Discount Tire (they cannot do alignments at their shop). Waste of time going to Discount Tire unless you want a set of tires and to pay more for them. I will never go to an auto shop that uses bait and switch or high pressure sales tactics. Our daughter, a KU student, had a flat today. She called Roadside assistance, through our insurance, who came out and filled it back up with air. Thanks to many good reviews from other KU parents, I sent her here to get the tire checked. These were new tires purchased last summer back home and were under warranty- but we didn't know where to send her as the place we purchased them does not have a location in Lawrence. After calling that place, we found out she needed to go to Firestone where her warranty would be applicable. Not only did your employee check her tire but her offered to put her spare on for her- at no charge, all the while knowing she would need to go elsewhere to get the fix or new tire. There has been an occasion where the guys are busy and can't get to me right away, but all of the other times they get me right in and right back on the road. Cars. When they are working, I love them. But when things go wrong, I hate stressing over being taken advantage of as cars are not my area of expertise. The same goes for tires. When I had a recent tire problem, I turned to Discount Tire as I was somewhat familiar with the brand but had not had any personal interaction to this point. So I pulled into the Discount Tire lot with my car limping along with the little "donut" spare on the front looking like a misplaced stepchild. Immediately, I was warmly greeted by Patrick who came out to meet me at the car (who does that in the Winter months?) who listened to my tale and then quickly assessed the problem bringing me into the warmth of the store to discuss my options. He was able to order two of the tires I needed which came in the same day and were put on my car. The pricing was reasonable, the timing quick, but what I will remember was the level of service I got from Patrick. He was patient, and his easy going style helped me calm down from having a car problem in a strange city. Because of him, Discount Tire has a big fan in me! Long term discount tire customer , have purchased 7 sets of tires in past six years in Arizona and Ks . This shop is constantly overbooked , moved my appt a day after making it a week prior. We needed new tires. My husband had scheduled the appointment and I brought his cat in for the service. Upon entering the store I was not acknowledged at all, when I attempted to step toward a service attendant I was loudly told to step back and wait my turn though no one else was being assisted or waiting in line. When I was finally called forward after several minutes waiting the attendant was loud and abrasive. After checking in I was told to wait just take a seat. I've been into this shop three times in the past month due to various acts of god and at each of those times, I was stunned (probably visibly) at the wildly adept politeness that these employees display. They just don't crack, either, even when that place is busier than I think they're used to, it's amazing to watch. The first time I went here just to get my tire inflation checked, which they do for free. I asked if they sold tire gauges, but they gave me one for free. They also checked my spare tire, and said it probably wasn't any good anymore. They offered to give me one of the used tires for free, but didn't have any in the back when they checked. I came back a second time to get my tires realigned because my steering wheel was shaking. When they looked at it they said it was uneven tire wear and that they should be replaced (plus the tires were apparently 7 years old) they didn't pressure me to get new tires right then, but I did anyways. I asked about the spare replacement again, and this time they had one in the back (which they gave me for free). Their tires come with free rotations and free replacement tires in the case of a flat tire. I will admit I am a typical girl in the sense that I know absolutely nothing about car maintenance, but I was impressed with all the free services, and the fact that they didn't pressure me to buy tires, or the most expensive ones. read more

I've been a customer of Discount Tire stores in Dallas for several years and purchased new wheels and tires at my local Discount Tire (TXD-78) a few months ago. Discount Tire offers free rotations and balancing for life on tire purchases, which I utilize as often as needed. Knowing I was taking a weekend trip to Lawrence, I had my tires balanced on Thursday at my home store. Unfortunately sometimes balances don't end up perfect, and I was left with a highway shimmy in my steering wheel. Once I got to Lawrence, I planned to get a re-balance before heading back to Dallas on Monday. I was happy to see that a store had opened in Lawrence, so I scheduled an appointment for a balance on Saturday morning. The store opened promptly at 8:00, and the staff was already expecting me and Heinrich (06 Merc CLK500). I explained that I'd just had a balance but wasn't happy with it, and they said they'd take care of it. Although I only asked for a front re-balance, they chose to do all four. When I picked up, the employee even told me which tire was off and by how much. I'm a happy Discount Tire customer, and relieved that I could take care of an issue so quickly and painlessly (and free!) in Lawrence. read more

I have never been so pleased with a service done on my car as I was yesterday. All the way from the guys at the front desk to the guy that brought me my car after it was finished. I had made an appointment and was in and out with new tires in 25 minutes. Tyrese brought my car to me and explained EVERYTHING to me. Gave me some tips on why it was important to balance and rotate (I am bad at getting that done) and they were honest and told me that I did not need an alignment that it was just the new tires that were needed and a rotation and balance. Tyrese seemed like he was much younger and of course I figured it would be a quick pass off of the keys but this young man took his time to tell me everything and asked me if I had any questions. He was so polite, professional and on the ball. I will promote this company and especially this location. The guys at the front desk were superb. These guys are great. I had previously bought my tires, at home in TX, and had gotten a nail in one on my cross country trip. I called them when I was about an hour away (distance-wise and from their closing time) and he asked what make and color car I had and said he'd be looking for my car. We arrived 5 minutes prior to closing and they got me in right away. Unfortunately, for me, my tire had to be replaced but they stayed late and put on two new tires for me - after giving me (and the hubs on the phone) our options. Great customer service!!! read more
