After an initial diagnosis by Mike (the owner I later learned) determined the issue could be the thermostat. A quote for a replacement was sent the next morning, and scheduled for the next day. When I received the quote, along with it was a story about the company itself. Devon came out to install the thermostat and had it done quickly. I went with a WiFi until and after connecting it to the home network had some more issues. They were back out the next day and after a few hours of troubleshooting between Devon and Mike found there was a simple wiring issue in the crawl space. A few things that set this company apart for me. They are local and a family business, came the next day, met their promises of when they would arrive, checked with me to make sure it was okay to wait for the install and subsequent repairs, and were super friendly and kept me informed. Scott came and spent about 2 hours working on our heat pump, furnace, and descaling our tankless water heater. He was very organized and had the right equipment for the jobs in his truck. Good sense of humor, but also good advice around how to best upkeep those systems in my house. I ended up getting a discount by purchasing this year's service and next year's together. I took all the information and used AI to compare the mountain of info to get its take in the bids. Cm Heating consistently had the edge over the others. The main reason was the warranty. When it stopped heating in Winter (thankfully, we have back-up propane), CM quoted us $3,200 for a thermal expansion valve (TXV) replacement. They explicitly said that while the parts were covered under warranty, the labor was not. We got a second opinion -- and while the part failed, the second company pointed out that we had a 10 year parts and labor warranty (he was easily able to get to this info, which means CM should have, too -- especially since they sold it to me). I've now called CM several times to inform them that they need to cover the repair, but I've been ghosted. I assume this is likely because they can charge a higher rate for labor on a customer-pay job than they can be paid by the warranty company and are hoping I'll go to another company, but I have no proof of that. As far as I'm concerned, they sold me the unit and the warranty -- and they can do the repair. Once the warranty is over? I'll never deal with CM again.

Had another contractor add refrigerant in 2024 as it was running low and we suspect there is a leak somewhere due to improper installation. This year again, the refrigerant is running low. I had another contractor back to do a full inspection. They identified an improperly installed flare joint. Plus, all 4 machines' flare joints were not properly insulated. The hole through the walls were also not sealed at all. This sub-par installation costs thousands dollars of repairs within the 2.5 years since the system was installed and I'd rather pay someone a bit more to professionally install the system in the first place.
