My All Star esthetician, Roisin, customized the facial for my skin and included antioxidant deep cleansing, exfoliation, light extractions, mask, and moisturizing using quality natural ingredients such as pomegranate cleanser and coconut enzyme peel. I opted for a 90 minute service (Groupon holders can ask to upgrade their 50 minute service for an extra cost) which included a super pampering and wondrous head, neck and shoulder massage, arm and hand massage, and lots of comforting and refreshing, lightly fragrant hot towels. Roisin was truly outstanding, and I found out she is trained in Ireland. The other esthetician at All Star Waxxing is Lisa. All Star Waxxing deserves high marks also for their super easy, user friendly online reservation system, and very friendly staff. Star followed up with answers to my questions and text messages will confirm your appointment as well as keep you reminded of any upcoming ones. Located in King Center with Bank of Hawaii and Chez Kenzo at 1431 S King, 2nd floor, All Star Waxxing is easily accessible by stairwell or elevator. There is a cute waiting room with a pitcher of water and some nicely wrapped products for sale; they make good gifts. I saw Mahina, who rents out a room here, to get my eyebrows threaded. My skin is super sensitive due to acne treatments, which is why I opted to get it threaded instead of waxed. Mahina was very friendly and her work area was clean. She began to sanitize everything once I finished my appointment. Mahina listened to my concerns (sensitive skin, uneven brows, etc) and took her time when threading. She was very easy and fun to talk to! She threaded like a pro. To be honest, the threading hurt less than the plucking (she plucked a couple of stray hairs at the end). I was amazed at how little the threading itself hurt. Will definitely be back! read more

I was able to get a last minute appointment on a Saturday which was nice. First this place is very difficult to find, so if it's your first time make sure you give yourself time to get lost. It's located on S King st (shortly past keaumoku) and located in the same building as the Bank of Hawaii. There is parking but if you can find street parking it's cheaper. Once I found the place I met Melissa who was going to be my waxer and she was very nice. She did my brows first. She was a little flustered because she said it was her first day back after vacation. She struggled with the wax on my brows and i think she used the wrong wax. After some struggle we got my brows done. Then i got a Brazilian which was my first time. I was really nervous but she helped me relax and did a great job. It didn't hurt too bad. They also have some cute local jewelry and i bought 2 bracelets when I checked out. Soon after I left though my eyelids felt sun burned and really painful. When i looked in the mirror i could see the damage to my skin. It's been nearly 48hrs later and it's still painful. Let's talk Brazilian, ladies. (Men: close your ears) This establishment has the fastest, most efficient women working on our "pretties" that I've ever seen. My friend and I both tried their waxing groupon and we both can testify that we were done in less than fifteen minutes! I had Melissa Taitano and my friend had Star. The girls were clean, professional, and very friendly! The price is right too! Full waxing is $65, maintenance shows $55 online but I get it for $35 with Melissa! Quick service means you can do it on your lunch break, and it's less painful to have to sit for half the time of a normal B's wax. Their business is conveniently located by Ala Moana on the opposite side of Kapiolani Blvd. Parking was not a problem. They are located upstairs in a hair salon so don't feel confused if you're double checking the Suite number. The only honest criticism I can say (which held me back from giving 5 stars) was the rear end servicing. When asked if I want the derriere waxed, I assumed she'd stop at the perineum (between the two regions). Since I don't have hair on my, er, butt, most aestheticians stop there bc it's pointless to go through unnecessary discomfort and pain. But bless Melissa's heart, she put hot wax everywhere and it was honestly pretty painful. Let me start this off by saying - I hate pain. No. Really. I do. I have been an adult for about 19 years and have always said I would NEVER wax the vajay... When last year I realized that ALL of my friends did it, even the sweet, prudy ones, I had to rethink my outlook on Vajay waxing. Everyone has someone they go to regularly. I have a nail lady, someone who waxes my brows and underarms, a hairstylist, all of whom I am in a committed relationship with and now I needed to find a vajay waxer. Of course, all of my friends offered up the names of theirs, but for one reason or another, I never made an appointment. I found a deal... not certain if it was Groupon or Living Social at this point, but for another salon in Hawaii Kai. I wanted to try different places before settling on who would be seeing my chach more than anyone else in my life. The woman at the other salon was friendly and I felt comfortable, but I was not really pleased with her technique... but, what did I know, it was my first time. All I know is that I was in PAIN. The swelling and pain lasted for almost a week. I left that salon sticky and was later educated that it was because she used soft wax. Found another deal (again, uncertain at this point from where), this time for All Star Waxxing, I Googled this place and found pleasant reviews. I purchased and planned to use before I went on vacation a few weeks later. I realized that the certificate would expire while I was gone. I called Star, left a message and was surprised when I received a call back right away. I explained the situation and apologized for being so last minute... It was just shortly after I had been waxed by the 1st woman and needed to wait several more weeks. Star was so kind and helpful, she suggested that we wait until I returned and that she would honor the certificate. The day came for my appointment... there is limited parking at The Kenrock Building where the salon is located, but the attendant is nice about letting you park when you tell him you're there for Star. The Diva salon is pretty and well maintained with extremely welcoming stylists. Star herself has a very calm demeanor which puts me at ease - I'm EXTREMELY high strung. She answered all of my questions patiently and thoroughly. She clearly has an excellent understanding of how to service each client based on their individual needs, preferences and most importantly, personality. She's quick and may I say, makes the painful process very bearable. It's been 8 months since that first appointment and I've been in a committed relationship with her ever since, seeing her every 4 weeks (I'm Portuguese and Spanish... we are hairy people!). The pain is very minimal, even for a cry baby like me, she uses hard wax which does not leave the sticky feeling afterwards and even after my first visit to her, I have never had any pain or swelling last longer than the time it took me to drive home. Had an amazing wax job! It's not the norm for a guy to wax his entire face and it does sound painful but I do because I hate having to shave everyday and I hate the look of a 5 o'clock shadow. Ok, so I've been growing out my "lady hair" (TMI) for about two weeks. The sole purpose was to get waxed. TODAY was the day to get waxed! As I was finished baring all, she came in & showed me how to position my legs (that definitely helped a lot). Right away, she went straight to work. We talked the entire time & that definitely took my mind off getting waxed lol. It wasn't awkward or weird vibes at all. I was so relaxed & comfortable. I cannot say enough about having my lash extensions done at All Star Waxxing. I've known Star for years, and she kindly invited me to have a lash extension done. Excited at the thought I couldn't wait to have them done. I totally got addicted!!! My first time was in December so it was perfect for the holiday season. She did Glam lashes on me which were the longest length she had. She is very meticulous and a perfectionist also. After she showed me holding the mirror over my face, I was bursting with joy!! Wow,! This was my first time ever getting a Brazilian wax. A family member reccomended me to get the Groupon and said Star was amazing! Unfortunately after I bought the Groupon, I realized star doesn't accept appointments for the groupons so I had to choose between the other 2 ladies which wasn't a problem! It's just there were no reviews for either so I was kind of going in this blindly. My first appointment I made a few months ago was with roison, she's from Ireland. She's very sweet! But during the whole wax I tried to make conversation every time but the conversation just didn't always flow. I mean I was pretty nervous it being my first wax down there so I would've felt a bit more comfortable if there was an ongoing conversation going on to some what distract me lol. The first thing I noticed is that she did the wax in 3 BIGGGG strips. One in each of the sides and one in the middle. I went to cosmetology school, so I know this wasn't the *best* way to be through...on a scale from 1-10 my pain level was like a 6. I have a high pain tolerance though besides the fact that I am pregnant (they say when you're preggo you're more sensitive but I beg to differ lol). After she was done, I will say I did have SOME hairs left...nothing too major but, idk why she didn't take the time to pluck what was left or idk isn't that the point of a Brazilian wax? I also asked her about after care because I wasn't sure. I was hoping that they sold some cream or serum like the European wax centers do, but she told me they don't sell ANYTHING. Which is weird because usually with any service, the salon provides take home products. Besides that whole experience I was still amazed with my results because previously I use to shave all the time and HATED it lol. My hairs grew back thinner and slower which was awesome. I couldn't wait for my next appointment! I booked the same lady again, again, no conversation. Just a quiet session in & out straight to the point. After she was done and I got home and I looked in the mirror, I had A LOT of stubble!!! It wasn't as smooth as the first time. Idk why. It was so weird. After this I was like okay maybe I need to try something else. I just want to add that yes I did do my own research since my waxer wasn't super informative and read it's good to exfoliate and what not so I did often in between and before waxes. Anyway my last wax came around to end my Groupon and it landed on a Friday, the lady I usually went to wasn't available for this Friday so I booked Lisa. The family member that reccomended me to this place went to Lisa as well (she also got the Groupon) and told me she prefers her as well so I felt a little more at ease. I came in and right off the bat, Lisa made me feel 100x more comfortable, was very friendly and accommodating, kept the conversation going, AND she did smaller sections and really took her time. I felt she really was thorough with this session! I had no stubble or stray hairs after. I would definitely come back again for her I just felt way more comfortable and although I loved my results the first time, I loved it even more this last time. I've always been hesitant about doing anything with my lashes because of some of the outcomes I've heard about and because I have fairly long lashes to begin with I didn't think it be worth it. It only took about an hour but the difference was incredible! A gifted TIPPR deal ($30 for Brazilian) got me to try a new waxing salon. I scheduled with Star in town. I got a partial Brazilian, not full. PROS: Was able to get scheduled for an appointment right away, Star was friendly, there was parking at the building (convenient location near Ala Moana), proper sanitation procedures were used (no double dipping!), she used hard wax, and tried to be thorough. CONS: Completely agree with another reviewer that this waxing was more painful and took longer than I have experienced elsewhere (35 min for a partial - in the past I have had this done in 15 min). I think 50% was her technique (not enough stretching the skin/pressure and she seemed a little tentative about "getting in there") and 50% was the wax she used. It seemed thin and to crumble a lot, which caused all sorts of problems. I also had LOTS of wax on me afterwards, even after she "cleaned" me up. The quality of the services could be improved with higher quality wax and refining her technique to be faster. SUMMARY: It was worth the $30 deal, but I will not be a repeat customer. I'm so glad I didn't get the full Brazilian. She did a lot right, but I was surprised to hear she had 10 years experience. I would have guessed 1-2 years. read more

I used to go to her while she worked in California and once she moved to Hawaii I tried to follow where she was working so I could go see her on my vacation.
