As the original owner of my vehicle, I had a K&N filter installed back in 2004. The truck is a 2004 vehicle.I have had my truck smogged and never had problems EVER . The ONLY reason I came to this establishment was because of the lousy coupon. Well thought everything was going well as the owner is a fellow veteran. Then the other guy finally comes back with the paperwork and I paid. Then he tells me that I have an illegal K&N filter on that you can't buy in California. Not true as it was purchased in California. Not thinking about much as I paid I asked him if I failed, which is the first time and remember I'm the original owner. They said I had "tampered" with the system. They even included a certificate charge even though I "failed " because of my illegal device. Why didn't the guy just say after he popped the hood they can't test because of the K&N filter. But instead kept it back there for 25 plus minutes only to tell me it's illegal and then charged me. Not a legitimate way of treating people yet alone veterans. Beware of this place! read more

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value I just bought a car from a private owner it's my first time not buying from a dealer, at the dealer they take care of all paperwork. I was shopping for a Smog station I had no idea there were so many places it was overwhelming. I called a few and got a bad feeling they were to pushy but when I called All Star Smog Check they were professional and kind they were patient enough to explain the process. I showed up and the Tech Operator Tom was professional the place was easy to find and my smog check experience was painless fast and easy. read more

From the moment I walk into this guy smog shop he looking for any reason to not pass my vehicle. The first thing was he thought that an engine swap was done on my 2008 bmw 335i because it had twin turbo. He had all these outdated books with different makes and model and according to him Bmw didn't put turbos into 335i 2008 that they were first installed in 2016. He went the extra mile and called a BMW dealership proving himself wrong and that my car had the original engine. My car also passed the computer scan test no problem, but this guy still failed my car because the down pipes gives off a little to basically nothing of exhaust. This guy is scam artists he failed the guy before me as well for who knows what reason. I wouldn't give this place any business. I have proof he failed my vehicle for no reason! I went to another location and they passed my vehicle no problem this guy at this location is scam artist wanting to come back to him for retest..... read more

I'll make this review short and sweet, just like my visit. It was so quick and painless, and not a ripoff like other places I've been to! No appointment needed, although I called a bit before I came over to check the wait time. The owner was friendly and knew his stuff. Nobody else was there at 1:15 on a Thursday so I was in and out in barely 15 minutes. I was recommended this place by a friend and I will definitely pass on the recommendation to anyone in the vicinity of Oceanside! read more

Found a $29 coupon to this place on line. Handed the coupon to the guy when I checked in. Took forever and the guy kept mumbling about why my car wasn't goin to pass. Finally passed then mumbled something about why my car didn't qualify for the $29 coupon. Bad news!! read more

Really inexpensive smogging and we were in and out in under 15 mins! Definitely recommend.

WOW!! What a horrible experience!! There are several Star Smog Stations in Oceanside area. Avoid this one!! Very creepy guy. Even the $29 coupon from their website was a complete scam. When you check in they accept the coupon. When it comes time to pay, they come up with a disclaimer that the coupon doesn't apply to your vehicle. I cannot recall having an experience anytime anywhere recently when I felt so ripped off. read more
