I thought I had blown out an electrical socket by dumbly putting two space heaters into one socket (don't ask). I couldn't reset the GFCI socket, and flipping my circuit breakers on and off seemingly did nothing, so I started searching out Youtube and eventually calling professionals since I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Since it was a Sunday, it wasn't easy. A couple "on-call" people offered to come out (without discussion), later that week. Others, who claimed to run 24 hour service and claimed to be open on Sundays, didn't pick up at all nor even call me back despite leaving a message. I was very fortunate that Brian did pick up after a double phone call on my end, as he thought it was an emergency. In order to try to avoid an unnecessary visit or cost on my end, he kindly walked me through trouble shooting the situation and felt that it was likely something to do with not FULLY flipping the circuit breaker or possibly a tripped GFCI unit I wasn't locating. After seemingly attempting what he advised and nothing seeming to happen, he agreed to come out at the end of another job the next day and even throw in a free part if it was something as simple as a wall socket. All this was totally appreciated since our water heater and bathroom lights were out as a result. He also encouraged me to keep looking at what he suggested since the issue didn't make sense and he didn't want to charge me for coming out and doing something simple like flipping a switch ( which apparently can and does happen). Taking his advice I kept playing with my circuit breakers and unplugging everything connected on the line that seemed to be out. With some luck, the power kicked back on, and I'm pretty sure it was indeed because there was one circuit I missed that I hadn't pressed completely and fully off ( hard to notice the small click at the end of the circuit breaker off position without this small piece of advice that numerous Youtube videos and other calls to professionals didn't help with). Needless to say I was very impressed and happy with the entire experience compared to everything else I went through to try and solve my problem. I know if I have a real electrical problem or need some kind of work in this area in the future I will for sure be giving All Star Electric a call! Thanks! read more

Brian did the electrical work for our retrofit HVAC installation cleanly and professionally. After the install was completed, we had an issue with another circuit in our house that we thought was related to the installation. Brian came out quickly, walked us through what they did for the HVAC install, and then started to troubleshoot the misbehaving circuit. With his determination he was able to locate and repair the issue. Even though the problem wasn't directly related to the HVAC work, Brian didn't charge anything for the repair, even after spending several hours identifying and fixing the issue. I've known Brian Bogges for about five years, but this is the first time I have had to use him for electrical work. My hot tub was popping the breaker frequently and I was told it was because the power might be insufficient. I asked Brian to take a look and give me an estimate. He was able to put in the conduit and run a new circuit from the panel and install everything that needed to be done in only a few hours. The cost was very reasonable and his workmanship was excellent. There was no need for any cleanup on my part and everything has worked perfectly since then. Due to his heavy workload at that time, he came out to us on a Saturday, rather than leave us hanging - something we really appreciated. He arrived on time - after calling to re-confirm - and took care of everything we needed - plus one new item that we asked about. He was personable, efficient, and reasonably priced. In an effort to cure an intermittent power outages in "random" parts of the house several electricians agreed that we needed a new main breaker panel, the cost was a tough pill. So we began to call around for estimates, on the third call Brian drove down to Petaluma (I hope he had another call) poked around for like two minutes and told me to call PG&E because their connection looked loose on one leg. He didn't charge us, even though I tried to insist. PG&E checked all their connections from transformer to box and three months later with no problems! Brian could have made an easy couple grand, the problem would have gone away and we'd be happy and none the wiser, but he's an honest man I would ask everyone give him a shot. read more
