Victor called, came by to check out the work and took on the challenge. He and his crew arrived the next afternoon and knocked out the weed cleanup and hillside. If he stopped there, we'd be impressed, but he came back in the morning to completely cut down and remove that big hedge that always separated us from our neighbors. We now have an open from yard and can see down the street. Victor even helped fix a 2-year problem with our outdoor water system to water the vegetation on the hillside. We were so very impressed. Victor's very meticulous and was fairly priced. He is on my speed dial for any landscaping work.

Throughout the process, he was very responsive via text, visited the property and sent me pictures of the areas we spoke about. I was very happy with the quoted dollar amount but was unsure he could get it done in the two days he promised. He and his two employees (family members that he works with regularly) were in fact able to get it done in just one day! And the results were meticulous! They arrived on time and got to work immediately. I've had people clean up this yard in the past and they never came even close to the level of completeness that Victor and his team, did. They have definitely changed what I expect going forward and I've deleted my previous yardwork contacts. I am delighted to share our experience with Bazan Landscaping. We recently completed a front yard…read moremakeover and couldn't be more pleased with the results and with the expertise and service provided by Hugo Bazan and his colleagues. Hugo provided a detailed estimate for the work, far more thorough than the other landscape contractors from which we requested bids. He was the only contractor to provide references, and when we visited the properties we were extremely impressed by the quality of the work and by the knowledgeable and elegant design. When we talked with the homeowner at the first property we visited, he noted that he was so pleased that he recommended Bazan Landscaping to his brother, who took his advice. Hugo's brother Carlos has an engineering degree from university in Mexico, and we benefitted greatly from his talents; as one example, he recommended a different type of stone than we had planned for the edging of front steps, and his advice was excellent. The result was a more accessible and stylish entrance to our home. Hugo and Carlos also offered suggestions on the color of the pavers we selected, which complemented perfectly the stone and paint scheme on our home. Every member of Bazan's crew was skilled and courteous. I was extremely impressed by the level and range of skills each worker possessed, from carpentry and stonemasonry to handling tractors and other heavy equipment. Hugo knows a vast network of skilled craftsmen, so when we decided to pour a new concrete sidewalk and driveway approach, he was able to handle this facet of the project in a timely and effective manner, and the cost was considerably less than other contractors. Hugo offered us expert recommendations on our sprinkler and lighting systems as well, pointing us to excellent buys on professional-grade equipment and providing clean and efficient installation. He even came to our home in the evening to check that the lighting pattern he recommended provided the coverage that he had designed. The pattern was perfect. I have never encountered a contractor providing this level of customer service. Hugo Bazan has demonstrated a genuine commitment to quality and takes great pride in his company's work. He was always responsive to phone calls and questions and continually checked to confirm that we were satisfied with the quality and pace of the work. Throughout our project, he demonstrated professionalism, generosity, and integrity. We plan to do a back yard makeover in the next few months and will again use Bazan Landscaping. I cannot think of a stronger recommendation and urge you to give full consideration to this excellent contractor. ***** UPDATE ***** Since I wrote the review above in August 2013, we had Bazan Landscaping do a full makeover on our back yard, tearing out cracked concrete decking around our pool and again installing the excellent CalStone pavers we used in our front yard. Hugo added drainage lines, a concrete pad for pool equipment, a foundation for a 9x13 garden shed, as well as irrigation and lighting. The quality was, as before, superb. Again, his crew demonstrated excellent skills and an efficient work mode. Hugo offered his usual cogent advice on creating a powerful aesthetic, resulting in an elegant design, and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Since my 2013 review, Bazan Landscaping has reinvested revenues in the business, adding several tractors, a dump truck, and other equipment. They've done many and diverse projects, from substantial retaining walls to condo hardscapes. They've expanded their crew, and trained them in the high level of skills and commitment expected of Bazan staff. As before, I recommend Bazan Landscaping with great enthusiasm and sincerity.

My wife and I bought our house in part for the eclectic yard it had - large trees, a fairly new deck, a broken down but seemingly-repairable koi pond with 2 fountains, and two large groves of bamboo. Unfortunately it wasn't long before we realized the bamboo was taking over, the pond was irreparable and would be a hazard to our soon-to-be-born son. Instead of character what we needed was a usable backyard. We're the types that enjoy doing things ourselves, and over the next two years we took out the trees, dug out the bamboo, removed the koi pond and fountains, and the deck that turned out to be poorly constructed after all. However, we reached a point where we needed someone to come in and finish the job. We got several estimates. Despite being clear on what it was we wanted - a simple irrigated grass backyard - the estimates we received seemed to combine what we wanted with other things we didn't. John's estimate was for exactly what we wanted, nothing more, and he was able to give it to us on-the-spot (I'm not sure if that's common or not though). There were hiccups, but I'm giving a 5 star review because in the end, the result is outstanding, and John or someone from Force would always let me know what would happen next. It's clear that John is very concerned with doing quality work, and aware that his company's reputation is to be made or broken on the work he does. John was always courteous, helpful, communicative, and committed to getting the job done. I highly recommend him and Force.
