I've seen several other jobs where the seam was still visible after the contractor completed their work. Sylvester and I discussed this potential issue and he told me he uses a special s curved jig to blend the seam together. We discussed the scope for work, the different materials of each layer, a start date and most importantly the price which was better than those national brands and large artificial grass companies. Sylvester contacted me the day prior to the start date confirming the time they would there. The next day, they showed up on time! we sprayed an outline of our design. Not your basic straight line edges that's easy... ours had curves... they started work and bang, 2 and a half days later it was completed and it looks great. In this day of age, it's difficult to find a contractor that responds to calls, shows up when they say they will and are great communicating with their client and putting them at ease. Note: Sylvester was on site most of the time. While on site, he works with his crew. When he wasn't he was picking up materials and only gone for a short time. I'd recommend Sylvester at SJ yard works for their artificial grass installations.

Hugo provided a detailed estimate for the work, far more thorough than the other landscape contractors from which we requested bids. He was the only contractor to provide references, and when we visited the properties we were extremely impressed by the quality of the work and by the knowledgeable and elegant design. When we talked with the homeowner at the first property we visited, he noted that he was so pleased that he recommended Bazan Landscaping to his brother, who took his advice. Hugo's brother Carlos has an engineering degree from university in Mexico, and we benefitted greatly from his talents; as one example, he recommended a different type of stone than we had planned for the edging of front steps, and his advice was excellent. The result was a more accessible and stylish entrance to our home. Hugo and Carlos also offered suggestions on the color of the pavers we selected, which complemented perfectly the stone and paint scheme on our home. Every member of Bazan's crew was skilled and courteous. I was extremely impressed by the level and range of skills each worker possessed, from carpentry and stonemasonry to handling tractors and other heavy equipment. Hugo knows a vast network of skilled craftsmen, so when we decided to pour a new concrete sidewalk and driveway approach, he was able to handle this facet of the project in a timely and effective manner, and the cost was considerably less than other contractors. Hugo offered us expert recommendations on our sprinkler and lighting systems as well, pointing us to excellent buys on professional-grade equipment and providing clean and efficient installation. He even came to our home in the evening to check that the lighting pattern he recommended provided the coverage that he had designed. The pattern was perfect. I have never encountered a contractor providing this level of customer service. Hugo Bazan has demonstrated a genuine commitment to quality and takes great pride in his company's work. He was always responsive to phone calls and questions and continually checked to confirm that we were satisfied with the quality and pace of the work. Throughout our project, he demonstrated professionalism, generosity, and integrity. We plan to do a back yard makeover in the next few months and will again use Bazan Landscaping. I cannot think of a stronger recommendation and urge you to give full consideration to this excellent contractor. ***** UPDATE ***** Since I wrote the review above in August 2013, we had Bazan Landscaping do a full makeover on our back yard, tearing out cracked concrete decking around our pool and again installing the excellent CalStone pavers we used in our front yard. Hugo added drainage lines, a concrete pad for pool equipment, a foundation for a 9x13 garden shed, as well as irrigation and lighting. The quality was, as before, superb. Again, his crew demonstrated excellent skills and an efficient work mode. Hugo offered his usual cogent advice on creating a powerful aesthetic, resulting in an elegant design, and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Since my 2013 review, Bazan Landscaping has reinvested revenues in the business, adding several tractors, a dump truck, and other equipment. They've done many and diverse projects, from substantial retaining walls to condo hardscapes. They've expanded their crew, and trained them in the high level of skills and commitment expected of Bazan staff. As before, I recommend Bazan Landscaping with great enthusiasm and sincerity.

We hired them to re-landscape our front yard, which was not an easy task. They handled the demo, re-leveling, sprinkler system, installation of plants, sod, installed pavers for a wall and stairs from the sidewalk, laid concrete for a new walkway, installed a new fence and installed outside lighting in the new front yard. I'm sure I left out other things, but they provided a skilled and professional crew to do all of this and this was just our first project. They also replaced a fence in our backyard (second project) and then we recently hired them again to replace our backyard deck (two levels). Each experience has been absolutely stress free and amazing. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone that needs work done. They listened to us, kept us informed, and worked through some difficult weather at times to get the job done.
